  1. You know, that would be grand if she does. Zoe needs someone to show her the way to regular little girlness. We have cousins but they are boys or much older. Her little friends are either clueless like her or non-traditional vegetarian political 9 year olds. No kidding.
  2. I'm so out of it... I'm just not a pop music listener...However while on the bus in Vegas some girl was asking her mom, "Who is Toni Braxton and why is her picture EVERYWHERE? She's no Hannah Montana! Hannah is a bigger star." Mind you at this point most everyone is a bigger star than Toni B. but it was pretty funny.
  3. You are just a trend setter you hearty heart girl. I heart how we post silly little messages. I wonder how many people have been turned off the bycyling page by it. But I don't wonder about it much.
  4. Rain My DD is 6. It's a chore at times but the best job in the world really! What you might want to do is take a "time out" for yourself after you yell/threaten/say something mean. My daughter gets put in a big chair with no TV and no toys. I go and put myself in the same chair and tell her that Momma needs a time out. It's not only a way to apologize, it also teaches there are consiquences and most importantly you tell them you need to be left alone for five minutes (or whatever is your standard...Zoe gets a minute for every year of life. Ahhhh what I'd give for 39 minutes!) It won't keep you from exploding but it might give you a guilt free way to deal with the aftermath.
  5. I heart you too.
  6. Just an aside, you do know that if you donate your clothing you get a tax deduction. That's what I've been doing, just because I don't have time to ship out clothing. After I offered my sister some items and was told very firmly that she didn't need my used clothing, I thought that was my easiest solution. Now granted that doesn't get me other people's stuff...so it's only a one sided solution. Interesting what someone said about people taking and taking to sell on e-bay. That's terrible! I'm always surprised about how greedy some folks can be.
  7. W and one more thing... If you are taking 41 minutes and I'm taking 40 we are essentially running the same speed. I'll kick your ass if you called me a slow runner. Actually I'd kick anyone's ass if they said anything less than me being phenominal...I mean if you're going to say something, be positive. Right?
  8. ZZ I'll send you those pants. I bought them for running but they are pad less bycyling pants. They are very long and pretty roomy on me. Give me one more month of running in the cold with them and I'll send them your way. I do believe they are XX. I love reading stuff that seems very far fetched. It's one way to make it a reality. We shift slowly, us human people. W- I'll tell you what, that's NOT slow. It's about a 13-14 minute mile and that's respectable. And its RUNNING. Hello, Running is a bitch and hard and you can run for 43 minutes! Like I said before, this time a year ago I'd not have run out of the way of a car kareening toward me. I would have been resigned to getting hit, thinking, "looks like I'm gonna die."
  9. Mary, Thanks. I think I knew that, but then I thought I might be wrong so I asked. Tia, WOOT WOOT! You're doing great!
  10. ZZ You can run girl!!! I'm surprised as hell that I can. And WOOT WOOT, I did 3 miles in just under 40 minutes today. I'm working toward a 30 minute mile now!!! Who'd a thunk it? Take it slowly and we'll cheer you on!
  11. Gwen, I need to take some time to cook batches of food. What did you make? I tend to make chilis and soups, but after four days of chili I get tired of it. I need new ideas. Dems, Why can't I remember your real name? Let us know what your doc says about the BP. It's hard to winter in Michigan. It gets so cold and yucky outside and it's so freaking beautiful the rest of the year. Try to keep looking forward to spring.
  12. Body Bugg users Are you still using it? I took it off for the weekend in Vegas and didn't miss it. I'm thinking about retiring it, but don't know. I know I'll want to measure my calorie burns when I get to biking again, but now I've got a good understanding of what I'm doing...hmmm Thoughts? I've gone back to tracking my calories on fit day too. I just like it better. Though I'm going to take a closer look at Sparkpeople. Apex is just a bitch for food tracking. Mamma don't like.
  13. Well, if finances are an issue leave the boys at home and come for the day with just Korrine. It'd only be $25 for you. The vegan thing is amazing. I've known many a vegan and they look like runners...very thin. You get all the props in the world. It's not my cup o' tea, but I do recognize the benefits. Rock on.
  14. Penney, You are in bandster hell. You'll see lots of posts on that. No you don't have restriction, well not much, and your tummy isn't swollen from the surgery anymore. You are using words like "about" and "like"...perhaps you should measure your food for a meal or two so you know literally what you are eating. Or you can just relax about it until you get your fill. Sounds like you are hoping on the scale often too. Again, relax...you'll get there. You're fine.
  15. So BG, are you vegan now? And btw, we are definately going to the waterpark on the 2nd.
  16. Hi Gang. I was in Vegas this past weekend. It started out being a planned LBT thing, but everyone fell through...all but one woman, Paula who lives there. She met me and my SO out and took us around to different places and chatted my ears off! She was so great! If you go to Vegas and you like meeting new people, she is very good people. We are taking my DD to the indoor water park in 2 weeks. Again I'll be hooking up with a different woman I met on LBT who I cycled with last summer. Our daughters are close in age and the park is half way between me and her, so WOOT WOOT. I haven't stepped on a scale so I don't know what kind of damage I've done, but truly my band gives me good restriction unless I actively try to eat around it, which I don't do generally. It's just so hard changing one's point of reference about food. We went to a buffet for our first meal this weekend and I was like whoa, never again. Yeah I didn't eat like I used to, but I ATE!!! The SO wanted to go again for breakfast (She's skinny btw) and I was like all I need is an egg and toast and I'm not buying a buffet to get that! UGH. One day the struggle won't be as hard. I know it won't.
  17. Workinonit I too am a food service chica, what is it that you do? I'm in school right now to get my MBA so I can get away from where to food is served to some other part of the business...WELCOME! Pamela, Alison asked if you two were going to meet us. It would have been a fantastic treat to see you, especially last minute. We did meet a Vegas woman from LBT, Paula, and she was fun. Not queer but a riot and a nice addition to my LBT friend collection! You were the first! Howdy the rest of yas.
  18. Hi Kids, I'm back from Vegas. Viva and all that good stuff. It was a great time and considering I'm sick with a head cold, yet the fuck again, we had a blast. The bike ride didn't go as well for me as it did Alison. It was 5 miles up, up and up some more. I made it to the top, I walked quite a bit but it was beautiful!!! However the next mile was down, down, down. And now comes the excuses... I was on some bike that fit my legs, my back and arms, but the handle bars were GIANT and the grip for the breaks was a stretch, I could only barely grasp them with my first two fingers. After the first mile of down hill, my hands were numb. And the dude who drove us out there was talking shit about the first hill being cool an easy 30mph, but the second hill he liked to hit 50mph.... So, there I was not feeling well, not realizing the breaks were a struggle and truley just ever so slightly terrified of that 2nd drop after having done the first one...so I chickened out and called the company to come and get me. I sat on a rock in a beautiful spot for 2 hours Saturday morning while Alison went on to have a great ride. Apparently after the second drop it was pretty level. I'm sad and don't even want to confess I was a candy ass, but I have to be honest with you all. But the rest of it was great. Paula who I met here on LBT should have picture posted someplace. I haven't looked because I came here first...But she was fantastic and very fun. If you go to Vegas and you want a local to give you the ins and outs she was amazing and fun. You should look her up. Okay on to read more. JC, Dude, I'm glad you're on the mend.
  19. Okay, I need to start looking around too. But what gives with the apple and the tape measurer??? I don't know about you all but I can't eat apples and I started out looking like one with a head and feet attached. Bad choice of an image. And I'm lucky that's the worst thing I have to worry about I know. I'd never post that any where but here on page 305 of a thread only 10 people read.
  20. You have got to be kidding?! Even at my highest high I needed to be HURTING for sugar to grab one of those nasty, waxy, icky things.... But you know I probably have 15 gallons of premium ice-cream in the freezer at all times so if I need a fix, I'm not going to eat a lil' Debbie. And then there are cookies and cookie dough for the times a girl couldn't wait 13 minutes to bake them. It's sick I tell you.
  21. DEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's fantastic!!!! To have reached your goal is an amazing accomplishment! You have got to be feeling stoked! Congratulations. As for the weekend me and the GF are heading to Vegas tomorrow!
  22. HP- School gets easier. It's hard at first to fit all the obligations in and wrap your head around what is expected of you. But after a bit you'll find a groove and it will become better. JC- Settle down there, tiger. Your band will be fine, you will be fine. Let it rest, get an unfill if you must, but above all else keep us informed. Sorry, that's got to blow big time. ZZ and B, Who knew people stole that stuff? Mine are lil'debbie snack cakes. I go to the store room and find empty boxes... And ZZ, I'll cool it on the lube talk...Just trying to make the conversation flow. XO
  23. Cruisin' the isles, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
  24. I was surprised that Target, TARGET of all places carries large bottles of Astroglide... I er, uh, just happened to notice.
  25. Grease=lubrication....and as I see it there's nothing wrong with that.
