  1. Staree, good luck! I know you a nervous, but all will be fine & you will be home before you know it! Let us know how it goes. I will pray for you!
  2. Hey! I am from Nashville...really close & am getting banded tomorrow at Baptist Nashville! Good Luck!!
  3. Good luck everyone this week, not too long now. It is just a matter or days! YAY! I can't wait to look for everyone's progress! I am down 16 LB in preop and I am hoping I can loose another 2 before Friday to get into ONEDERLAND! YAY!
  4. I am banded this week! Friday is my day, so only one day past yours!
  5. My date is now 4 days away and I have a question. Can I take my birth contol on the day of the surgery? Or for that matter the day before?
  6. Your story reminds me a lot of mine also. I am 22 years old and ALL of my family members are over weight. I was not brought up with correct eating habbits and I believe that I made a lot of bad food choices that got me where I am today. With that said, I did struggle with the decission to get the band, mostly because I am so young. I am not sure if I could do it long term or not with out the band, but I do know that I am making the right decission for me. I need to loose 74 more pounds to get to 130 and to me that is a huge goal and I am very thankful that I have the oppertunity to make it happen! My advice is do it now, don't wait until your 30 or 40 and look back and wish you had done it sooner.
  7. That is so great! Congrats on your success! You are an inspiration to us all!
  8. Well, honestly like most banders will say on here, you can't think of the band as a diet. It isn't..it is changing your life forever. You have to make the choice to give up old bad habbits in order to be successful, because the band is not a calorie counter. It can only help you feel full from the food you eat, not make you choose a piece of baked chicken over a greasy burger. There are people who get the band that don't loose, because they are unable to stop their old ways. However, if you put your mind to it and make the choice to get healthy and stick with it, then you have every oppertunity in the world to be successful.
  9. I have been on my preop diet now for 16 days and have averaged about a pound a day up until today when I stepped on the scale and had gained a pound! How could this be? I have not cheated one bit! Did any of you start the yo yoing in the preop stage?
  10. I don't have surgery for another 9 days, but my pharm. tech told me today that the antibiotics we are put on after surgery often cause a loose stool. As far as the post-op diet goes, I'm with Camp3... My Dr. actually lets me go on mushies on day 4-14. After day 14, I progress to a regular diet. Days 1-3 are all clear liquids. He has performed over 1700 surgerys and is board certified as a teaching Dr., so I am pretty confident in what he says. I would just listen to your body, if it hurts or wont go down then slow it down and go back on liquids....I hope you figure it out. Good luck! :sneaky:
  11. Girl, I'm so feeling your jitters! My surgery is in 10 days and I have been on my pre-op diet for 2 weeks already. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get! Recently, I have been worried about my blood work. I haven't had blood taken in like 6 or 7 years, so I am so affraid that tomorrow when I go get it done the results will come back bad! I know I am freaking out about every little thing, but I just want March 27th to get here and be done, so I can start my brand new life! Good luck on your pre-op diet & I hope all goes well with your surgery! Jitters are completly normal!
  12. I'm almost on week 3 of my pre-op diet and something I have found that will kick the sweet craving is belive it or not.... calcium chews! You need them since you aren't getting dairy anway, so why not get the chocolate or carmel ones? I personally like the carmel, but not only do they taste good they are only like 20 calories and full of the calcium you need. Also, depending on your age you can have 2- 3 a day...one after each meal!
  13. I would say the same, Paul Mitchell tea tree works well too. It acts kind of like a stimulant. Maybe you should get blood work done sooner, it could be more serious than you think. I would talk it over with my doctor and ask him if it is normal.
  14. Quick question, at how many pounds down did people start to notice your weightloss?
  15. Once you start loosing the pounds from it, you wont look back! It is a great way to start you weight loss too! I have lost 11.5 LBS in 13 days so far. It is a great feeling and it helps you look past the fact that the protien drink are so yuky after time. Good luck, you can do it!!
  16. Keep up the great work! 28LBS is nothing to laugh at! You are doing amazing and you aren't on anyone's time table but your own. I learned something early on in this after getting lot of judgment from everyone who didn't approve and that is, "screw them, I'll be healthy and they will still be over weight and stuck in bad habbits"! Keep it up, you will make it!
  17. Thats so funny, when I saw this post I couldn't believe it! I wasn't alone in thinking the same thing! I told my husband at the begining of this, "I know I am successful when I never shop at Lane Bryant again!" Thank you for the words of advice and congrats on making it as far as you have!
  18. Thats a great idea Baylor, you will deff. kick start your metabolism that way. My only piece of advice it to be cautious not to get tired of the protien shakes early on, B/C once that is all you can have, you prob. won't like them any more. I have had to chage brands a few times, B/C I started to get nautious from the same taste over and over.
  19. I deff. went through that phase just last month. I am being banded in a week and a half and am in the pre-op diet stage. Right now I crave everything, but I am able to over come it by just putting mind over mater. However, before I was on the pre-op diet, I would eat my favorite foods (Zaxby's, Mexican, and Mac-n-Cheese) and think "Ahhh, is this the last time I am going to be able to enjoy this". Honestly, you will get over it and probably wake up one morning and say "ya know what, I'm over it"! Thats what happened to me and I actually started my pre-op diet a whole week early! I am on day 10 and am down 9LBS. You can do it, just don't over endulge now, or you will pay for it when it comes to talking it back off.
  20. I am about to be banded on the 27th and am wondering what type of mushies work well after surgery? The doctor gave me some ideas, but what is high protien low carb mushies & what worked best for you?
  21. I have been using EAS protien drinks. They are 11 oz. each and have only 110 calories and 3g carbs, also they contain 17g protien! They are sold at Walmarts or Kroger and come in Strawberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla. I love the strawberry & so far it is working well for me....I have lost 8LBS in 8 days!
  22. PreOp diet is so far so good! I am on day 8 and have lost 8LBS! I can say the only cheating I have done was eat 3 peanuts! Only 15 more days left! I am hoping I can loose another 12-13 LBS beofre surgery! All this toture makes me think of a certain country song..."If your going through hell, keep moving, don't look back.." Good luck guys!
  23. Quick poll...How much did you loose in your PREOP diet? I am on day 3 and have lost 1.5 pounds so far and am wondering what I have to look forward to by the end of this.
  24. Well, I have decided to add torture to my life-LOL. I want to make this happen so bad, that I have opted to have the pre-op diet for 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks! Mine consists of 2 protein shakes & 1 frozen meal a day. So far, if I get hungry my best piece of advice is load up on water & crystal light! It works, I promise!
