Crystal, the pre-op diet sucks. There's no way to sugar-coat it, lol. The thing that helped me the most was knowing that it was for my safety.

The fact that your husband is doing it with you is awesome. That level of support is incredible. Hang in there, and you will be through it before ya know it. Good luck!

High 5 to the beloved ! My pre-op was a high protein, low carb liver shrink. I got to have lean deli meat 2oz & a shake at dinner or a sandwich with 4oz of meat. It will pass, it is fo your health. Keep hanging, you will do fine.

Once you start loosing the pounds from it, you wont look back! It is a great way to start you weight loss too! I have lost 11.5 LBS in 13 days so far. It is a great feeling and it helps you look past the fact that the protien drink are so yuky after time. Good luck, you can do it!!

Hang in there you can do it. I did my 10 days liquid diet for pre op and lost 20 pounds. Had my surgery on the 13th of March and now on my 10 day post op diet. All is going well. I'm not even hungary.

Best of luck.

Michael

Thank everyone for your support. I had to call my dr. today I was suffering with a bad headache and the shakes. He said I was through sugar and caffeine withdrawal. He told me to drink a diet soda and chew some bubble gum. It has help with the shakes; my head feels a lot better. I can deal with it now. I know this will pay off in the long run and that is what keeps me going.:thumbup:

Yea, I had headaches for the first 2 days.... Its normal.. Pre-op diet does suck... lol but you have to do it to make sure you're liver is small enough for them to do sugery on you. So keep it up :tongue_smilie:

Best,

Chris

I understand you! I am on day 9 of 14 days and my surgery is next wednesday. Best advice I can give you is dont skip the shakes. Try to keep a normal meal time plan. It helps and drink lots and lots of fluid. Sugar free jello when you feel like you cant stand it anymore will give you a full stomach for a little while. Good luck! and what a great husband my wife is sitting here eating girl scout cookies and smacking her lips lol!!!!!

Crystal, I am having surgery on 3/30 too. Like you I started my 2 week liquid diet on Monday. I just about killed someone yesterday. I called my dr. and they said I could some raw or steamed veggies. That really helped a lot. I'm much better today. How's it going for you?

Dia

So how is it going today??

Crystal:

You're going through the hardest part. I started to mourn food when I started my pre-op diet. I went from being sad to being bit%%y about it! By thinking about how it was making my surgery safer I got through it.

sugar free popsicles and sugar free jellow saved me from going insane.

It's so worth it in the long run.

Best wishes to you.

I love my band!

Sue

Crystal,

Hello! I am 5 days till my new birthday! Make sure you are getting 60mg of protein/day! That is key. I carry a little cooler with slim fast or whatever protein I will have, maybe some pudding and applesauce, spoon and water. I am always prepared incase I might need it. It has been good! Good Luck, hang in there!
