  1. I see Francis Veninga in Carrollton and I love him. He did my band in 2009, gallbladder in May and revision to sleeve on 7/10. I love his staff too. He really took the time to answer all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with my decision.

    Removal 6/3/13

I am 5 days post op and so glad the band is out. The doc said he thought it would be an easy removal but had some difficulty getting it out due to some adhesions. I'm so glad I made the decision to remove it before it did some real long term damage. I was lucky enough to convert to the sleeve in the same surgery. I was 225 going in to surgery so we are pretty close. I thought bypass was too extreme for what I needed and I also debated about if I should do anything at all. In the end I remembered why I did the band to begin with and the likelihood I would regain if I didn't do the sleeve. That made the decision easier. Other than the difficulty removing the band and having to take a little more of my stomach than he wanted, I did fine with no complications and came home the next day. Good luck to you on your removal.

    Removal 6/3/13

I'm having my band removed and converted to the sleeve on 7/10/13. I'm so done with the band and the port and can't wait to get it out.
  4. I was banded about 4 1/2 months ago. Since my last fill, I burp constantly while I am eating or drinking anything... even water. It lasts about an hour after I am done. Before that fill I could drink 100 oz of water a day, no problem... now it takes me an hour or more to drink 16 oz and I am exhausted at the end of a meal. At best, I can eat 4 or 5 bites of solid food. Anyone else experiencing that? Is my band too tight?

    Burping all the time

Even water is difficult to go down (no straw). By the time I called the surgeon yesterday the office was closed. I called this morning and they are trying to get me in today. Thanks for the feedback.

    Scar pain

My scars don't hurt, but they itch like crazy! I was just banded on 3/30 so I know it is part of the healing process but it is killing me! Let us know what your doc says.
  8. I had a similar experience to everyone else, except I found it really hard to wake up from the anesthesia. When they got me up to take my chest x-ray, I told them immediately while still at the bed that I was really dizzy. By the time I got to x-ray, I thought I was going to throw up. I tried to stand again for the x-ray and started dry heaving. That sucked more than I can tell you. They took me back to my room and gave me some anti-nausea medication and tried again in an hour. I was scared that my band moved with the dry heaves but the doc said it looked okay. I was there much longer than I anticipated, but everything went well and my husband was a total trooper. Each day has gotten better and better and I can tolerate more liquids. I wasn't even the slightest bit hungry for the first few days. I have to agree that gas is the worst! I go back to work Monday and really look forward to being fully healed and able to exercise.

    First Day Liquid Diet

Crystal, I am having surgery on 3/30 too. Like you I started my 2 week liquid diet on Monday. I just about killed someone yesterday. I called my dr. and they said I could some raw or steamed veggies. That really helped a lot. I'm much better today. How's it going for you? Dia
