  1. Ugh I hate it when people comment about things they just DON'T get. Nobody that doesn't have the disease of obesity can understand what a frustrating process it can be, lose than gain lose than gain, feel bad about yourself=eat. My husband wishes he could have fixed everything that was broken inside me but I had to be strong enough to get this band and fix myself. The people who are banded are not weak, we are the strongest of the srong because we took a stand and are fighting for our health. You have done an amazing thing don't let anyone ever make you second guess it. God bless and good luck healing!

  2. PBing is productive burping and you will know when it happens and try to avoid it at all costs lol! I got banded 2/6/09 and the port pain especially for sleeping lasted a couple weeks it's normal they had to cut through alot of muscle in there. Congrats on the begining of a fabuous journey!

  3. So as I was rushing to get dressed this morning I looked in the mirror and of course just started mentally listing my complaints. I carry most of my weight in my upper waist so I look like I have a spare tire there. Granted it had gone from a full size truck tire to a small donut looking tire but still I hate it. So as I was putiing my size 18 pants on I tookk a moment to say a quick thank you to god and my surgeon and my friends and family. Back in January when I was still weighing in at 348 pounds I would have traded my left arm to be in an 18 pant and to weigh 266 (this mornings weight)! I'm 5'10 and must say I look so much different than several months ago I'm going to start savoring every weight along the way. I will NEVER be the weight I am right now again in my life because every day I work at going in the right direction, but it took alot of sweat and tears to get here so I am proud of it spare tire and all god bless 266 pounds and dropping! Have a fabulous day everyone Sara! :o

  4. First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! second of all we all wish our success came faster and our weight loss was quicker. We all obsess over food that's what led to our being obese in the first place. Congrats on the amazing weight loss so far and only 11 pounds away from 200. You are almost in wonderland!!! Be proud of what you have done, look in the mirror and tell yourself your proud of what you have daone and cut yourself some slack!!

Love a fellow obsessive guilt eater!!

  5. PCOS is the main reason I have had the lap band surgery in the first place. after a failed fertility treatment I along with my husband and endocrinologist decided losing weight to get my pcos under control was the smartest thing to do. After alot of research the lap band just seemed the best choice. I have lost 80 pounds since the secoond week in January 09 so in a little over 4 months. I weigh 268 now and am 5 ft 10. I have noticed a completely regular period since getting the band and my blood pressure has gone from 159/90 to 122/78. The band was the best thing I have ever done in my entire life I'm going to try and get pregnant in March of next year it will be just after a year for me then and I will go off the pill. Hopefully I will get my weight down to about 200 by then. Good luck to you!! Any other questions just ask.

  6. good for you! My DR does it different though I had my surgery on 2/6/09 and had my first fill 6 weeks after so 3/16 (I think) They gave me 2cc I already had 3 in my band so that put me at 5 no real restriction. I was told to wait 2 weeks and 2 weeks to the day I went back and got .8 cc's almost at 6 felt a little restriction but not alot so exactly 2 weeks later I went back they couldn't find my port so I had to wait a few days but then I got my fill and went to 6.8 and I feel great have had good restriction for the past 3 weeks. Just keep at it and be your own advocate if after 2 weeks you feel nothing go back!! Good luck

  7. I had to drop weight quick (15 pounds in 2 weeks) before my surgery cause i waited so long to get started and while I don't recomend it cause it is such a quick fix it definitely worked for me. I got the hollywood 48 hour miracle diet at wal-mart and dropped 8 pounds in 2 days then went really low calorie and no carb for the remainder it came off but if I hadn't gotten the band right away it all would have come right back. Good luck

  8. You said it right in there this in an addiction as powerful as any drug or alcoholic drink. Just because we have the band we are still addicts which I think makes people with the lap band the bravest, strongest people in the world. Not only do we make a choice to permanently put something in between us and our addiction we make the choice through bad and good to not let food beat us. Be proud of all your accomplishments this is a journey and you'll be a better stronger person for traveling it. Good luck

  9. I was terrified about the surgery before I did it. My husband is a nurse at the trauma center here in Maine and I met him while working in the E.R so of course my brain goes straight to the worst possible case scenarios about what could have happened. Honestly though it has been the single best decision I have ever made in my entire life! Good luck to you!!

BTW I am totally planning on an Edward hook up when I reach my goal weight lol!!

  10. That is absolutely awful and I am so sorry to hear about it. I work at a hospital and it sucks but when stuff like this happens you are still on the hook for the fee. The only thing I would check is to see if the company is willing to cover any of the cost of your new surgery, you should contact realize themselves because it is their screw up. Good luck to you!

  11. I agree not a single regret! The second week in January this year I weighed in at 348 pounds now only a little more than 3 months later and I weigh 285 it is hard work but really at the point I was at what options are there. I feel so good now! Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

  12. So I had my 3 month post op appt today and before I start complaining let me say I have gone from 348 pounds in the second week of January to 286 pounds!! The dietician at my surgeons office said that was one of the highest weight losses she had seen at 3 months. I have been working out so hard every single day it was awesome to see it all paying off. Now for the complaining my doctors office has an amazing nurse that does all the fills but she is leaving at the end of June so she has been training another nurse for several months. Well the nurse that always does it is off till Tuesday of next week so I saw the trainee and she could not find my port. I got stuck 3 times and she was digging around for 10 minutes with the needle in me before she told me she couldn't find my port and I would need to come in next Tuesday to have the regular nurse do it. So now I have a bruise the side of my fist on my stomach and am soooooo nervous to get another fill it hurt so bad! I just don't understand with the other lady I don't even feel it ugh! Oh well done bitching I have lost 62 Pounds in a little over 3 months woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I agree she probably is jealous, you said that while your stepdaughter is an only child you have other kids. Her mom's whole life probably revolves around her daughter and if she isn't remarried herself she has alot of time to try and moniter what goes on at your house. Just keep smiling and don't give her what she wants which is probably a confrontation. Good luck :)

  14. I tell everyone about my band, if I could get a T-shirt that said banded 4 life I would so wear it! This is the most important thing I have ever done for myself and I find that 90% of the people who hear about it are truly interested I get alot of good questions and have had alot of good conversations about it. I find that when people know you are serious about really being healthy they are so supportive, everyone loves an underdog, right? So I would order what you feel comfortable eating maybe tell your date beforehand I guarantee people will be impressed because it shows that you care about yourself and that you take being healthy seriously! Good luck

  15. So I got banded on 2/6/09 when I started my pre op diet the second week of January I weighed in at 348 pounds for a female that was the most I had ever weighed in my entire life and I have no idea how I ever let it get so out of control. As of this morning I weighed in at 296 pounds!!!!! For most people that is still a ton but for me I am back in the 200's and so so proud of that! First goal officially reached!! Good luck to everyone, hope you all have a beautiful day!!!

  16. No problem!! Weight Watchers makes these great mini cups of ice cream and they only come 2 in a package they are great to keep in the freezer for when you have a big craving!!! Alot of flavor but still relatively little damage also the 2 small cups is a perfect portion and keeps me from overdoing it. 90% you I chose the band over the bypass because I wanted some control, but it's crazy how the old habits are in there and the times they creep up on me always throw me for a loop. Anyway good luck to us all!!!

  17. I agree with Michelle I was terrified before. But I also had to do a liquid diet, if they think you are at risk for a fatty liver doctors do it just to be on the safe side. You will be fine after the surgery you will be so grateful that you have had this done!!! Having full control over what I eat is such a relief! Good luck to you!!

  18. You Probably don't want to hear it but truthfully you should worry more about the smoking than the teeth. There's a reason they make you quit before the surgery it aggravates the lining of your organs including your stomach and could potentially cause seriouse problems. Besides that it doesn't matter how hot you are when your dead! I know I used to smoke also did for 13 years and quit 2 years ago, hardest damn thing I ever did but you can do it and everyday you continue to smoke is just like everyday we put off losing weight. Good luck to you!!

  19. My surgeon put my band in with 3cc's in it so at my first fill on 3/25/09 I got 2 more which put me at 5cc's. I definitley noticed the difference but I wanted just a little bit more because I felt like I could eat over a cup at night. So 2 weeks after that on 4/8/09 I added another .5 cc's that seemed to be perfect I am still on pureed stuff cause for 4 days after the fill they have u eat soft but I notice a huge difference from 5 to 5.5cc's. I was hungry after my surgery not for a week or so but my appetite definitly came back and I didn't feel like I had that much restriction I was hungry between meals etc. My doctor's office says most people not all but most are comfortable within the 5-7 cc range. I feel like my weight loss is slow but I started this in the 2nd week of january doing my preop weight loss and since the 2nd week of January I have lost 44 lb's. I started heavier than some people though I was 345 when I started this so only a pound or so away from being back in the 200's :rolleyes2: Any more questions feel free to ask and good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!
