4th fill today, 2 1/2 months post op. 30 lbs lost

my weight has fluctuated some, but if you go by todays reading i am at 224.3, which is like just over 2lbs lost since my last fill... (not enough!) so today he filled .5 mls.... we shall see if this makes a difference or not. im starving right now, i can tell you that for sure. no responses on my earlier post regarding occasional Left shoulder pain... oh well. how are other folks doing?

Curious if anyone else stil has some Left shoulder pain?

So occasionally I am getting left shoulder pain... ususally when I'm heading towards eating too fast or too quickly--- feels like it did post op with all the gas. Is this weird? Anyone else experience this? Quick update: So I'm scheduled for my 4th fill next week. I have lost almost 30lbs which is great, but only like 1-2 lbs in the past few weeks. Started at 250-254lbs, and now weigh 225. I'm hoping for at least a ml.... Insurance stopped paying at the end of next month for fills:ohmy:

update, 3rd fill done, 26 lbs lost in 2 months

:thumbup:I have lost 26.5 lbs total.... 20 of them came off right after surgery because of all the liquids...   1st fill: 4cc's 2nd fill: 1.5 cc's 3rd fill: (this week) .75 cc's   Down to around 227 lbs, which means 27 more until I reach my first goal weight of 200. (Thats my doctors goal).... Ultimately I'd like to get down to around 170... We shall see. I continue to eat less and less, use much less insulin, I don't snore anymore according to my hubby, and all my clothes are getting way loose. I can't eat anything but oatmeal, yogurt, etc (slidy things) in the morning, which is fine because I'm not too much of a breakfast fan anyway. For whatever reason my band seems to become looser during the course of the day, and is loosest late at night which happens to be when I'm way more likely to pig out unfortunately. can't tolerate any white breads anymore, toasted or not, no rice, no cold chicken (random I know, but I found this out last night, yikes)   Stuff getting stuck is the most painful thing ever. I absolutely hate it. This can happen when I havn't chewed sufficiently, or when I try something my band rejects... For instance I chewed the living daylights out of a bite of blueberry muffin the other day, was pratically liquid going down... couldn't tolerate it, came back up.   I do tend to feel satisfied longer, on smaller portions, although not drinking anything during meals sucks. It's a strange, crazy trip. I hope I continue too lose, and hope the pace picks up a bit. I'de be more than happy with a pound or 2 a week but sometimes dont' budge one bit.

Second fill today- gurgles!! Gurgling!

A little over a week after my first fill a had my second one (about an hour ago) my weight went from 230.8 to 232.1 so just around 1lb of weight loss. My first fill was 4mls, and todays was 1.5mls.... so I have 5.5 in a 14ml band. I have got the BIGTIME gurgles... has anyone else ever experienced this? not burbs, just gurgles. They are so loud it seems the whole world can hear them. Yikes.

First fill today!

Ended up having my first fill today after a couple cancelations. Here's how it went: he had my lie down flat, and felt around until he was sure he had located the port. He then cleaned the area with alcohol, and injected some Lidocaine to numb the area (ouch!) I closed my eyes, put my hands behind my head, and the rest was finished within a couple minutes. I didn't feel the actual fill at all! He had me sit up, take a drink of water to make sure I had no trouble swallowing liquid, and sent me on my way. I have scheduled 2 more fills: one in a weekish, and one a weekish later. Apparently my insurance only pays for fills/unfills for 90 days after surgery! Would have been nice to know that ahead of time- the surgeon told me this today! So, hopefully I can find a sweet spot by the end of September. I wonder how much a fill costs with no coverage- yikes!

first post op follow up and cream of wheat

Had my first f/u appt today: my incisions look good, and other than that no new news. I have gone from 250lbs to 229.5 as of today which is pretty sweet. My 2 week f/u with the dieticion is this week as well.... Not sure when the whole fill business happens. We shall see. Oh yeah, and I ate too much cream of wheat today I think... My tummy is feeling a little too full like I totally pigged out. I ate 2 bowls (like a cup each) like 6 hours apart. Ok, all for now.

post-op day 11...egg beater heaven...

:crying: hi everyone, here i am almost done with my two week week recovery time, and getting ready to return to work early next week. updates: i took the steri-strips off my small incisions and they look ok. i am leaving the big one for my doctor... today i decided that i NEEDED to eat something other than a liquid, and made myself some soft cooked scrambled egg beaters with a little melted cheese. i ate very slowly (it must have taken me 10 minutes to eat the tiny amount i cooked) and chewed about 12 gazillion times before swallowing. one word. :tt1:YUM. after endless liquids it was like a feast. so tasty. fullness: i am pleased to report that i did indeed become quite full. after putting down the plate, i plopped down on my back on my bed with a big smile and took a nap. OH! I'm no longer too sore to sleep in my normal position so that has been quite lovely.   all for now. amh

2 posts in one day? yowza. my shopping trip..

Ok, well I came home after spending around $45 on stuff at the grocery store. I got 2 little things of meat baby food (I'm sure I will regret this), some cream of wheats, organic lowfat creamy soups-in-a-box, (broccoli? butternut squash/ tomato) a bunch of yogurts, puddings, and i think that just about does it. Have I ever spent so much on so little? I ripped open a boston creme pudding and devoured it right off the bat... Probably shoulda eaten it much slower. For dinner? While my husband and kids have fried chicken, cole slaw, and delicious pan sauted fiddle heads I will attempt to feast on a lovely liquid delight.

post op day 6 blues and pains

Welp, Today my kids went to their first (rainy) day of Summer Camp, while I stayed home to do more recovering. I managed to sleep from around 9 to 2ish... and woke up sore. I can now sleep if very very careful on both sides of my body.... but the second I attempt to get into my favorite position (on my belly, arm under head, knee tucked around a pillow) I hurt...bad. I still don't feel "normal" and wonder if I've got a hernia near my port site. That whole area is extremely tender, sore, and firm. I guess I'll find out if something's wrong Wednesday, when I go in for my 8 day follow up. I keep reading about sliming and PBing.. I think I understand what sliming is... not so clear on the PBing. I keep picturing someone spreading Peanut Butter on toast and then remembering they can't have the toast, throwing it out the nearest open window. Can someone clarify? I am now on my way to the grocery store to see about some vanilla CIBs, and whatever delicious liquid delights catch my fancy. I'm craving meat. I want a huge medium rare filot with onions and mushrooms.... perhaps I'll find a baby food version?

Yay for BM's! (read at your own risk)

Well, I have two BM's today. Both came on quick, and after not having one for 3 days lets just say that when nature calls I am gonna answer happily. In other news, I have really not consumed all that much today but continue to feel very full and gassy. Had some jello (maybe like 3/4 a cup), had one cup of edensoy chocolate soymilk, and a little clear liquid protein supplement stuff here and there. Slept most of the day, and am almost out of liquid pain meds. (Which really stinks since tomorrow is Sunday). Tomorrow my kids and Dh are going to climb Mount Monadnock! Very ambitious.

1st blog-3 days post op concerns, foods, & stuff

I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience... I had taken off all the bandaides from my tummy, (left the steri-strips alone of couse) I am very very sore still, and find most of my soreness on my left side. My large dressing/gauge area (where i think my port is?) is the most tender, swollen, and painful. The weird thing is that to the left an inch from where the dressing/bandaides are is where i feel a definite firmness. Naturally Im paranoid that something is wrong, and that the port flipped or somehow moved significantly to the left. I don't have a follow up with my surgeon until Wednesday (5 days away)... Should I worry? Otherwise things are good. I have been drinking chicken broth, k20 pink lemonade protein drink (delicious), edensoy chocolate soy milk, muscle milk, carnation instant breakfast, and have had a little jello here and there as well. I have no interest whatsoever yet in yogurts, cream soups, etc. Clear liquids, and full liquid protein supplements have been great. Today I managed to stay awake a few different times for 1-2 hour increments. I am currently utterly exaughsted and about ready to go back to sleep... Oh yeah did I mention that getting in and out of bed is very unpleaseant? And forgot lying anything but flat on your back.. Oh well.   Angela
