I'm new to this Forum, i got some questions
No I cannot feel my port, but I don't go looking for it either I have had three fills at the office and I have not felt any pain, not have I had any bruising I get a fill every month if I need one I have never vomited, been stuck, nor have I Bp or slimed I have lost 33 pounds so far. I was banded 11/11/08 My spleen bled during surgery and I had an issue with pain meds, which required I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days. I exercise at least 5X a week for 60-minutes I have lots of energy, losing lots of inches and dropped three pant sizes. I am 5'5" started out at 253 and I am now 220 I have no regrets. I would do it all over again! Good luck!

Why did they schedule my first fill 6 weeks after, the day I start full solids?
Coffe and wine is where I draw the line. I will not give those items up. I have coffee every day and wine maybe once a month.

Massage ??
I will send you a private message.

How long do protein drinks fill you up?
I have increased my work out and find that one NewWhey protein bullet or Isopure hits the spot for me. But I just had a fill yesterday and have great restriction, so I am full for 4-hours after a protein drink. Before fill, I was good for about 2-hours only.

2 week pre-op diet
Follow your doctor pre-op instructions and ask your doctor how much weight they want you to lose. It is always best to refer to your doctor regarding your WLS.

Preop Endoscopy Procedure
I have never had this procedure done, but my mom had it done a couple of weeks ago. My dad actually had to be there for her because she was really in a fog from the meds they gave her to place her in a twilight sleep. She said she felt no pain and the drugs were good. My mom is 64.

Massage ??
I have never heard that we should avoid a massage. I will not give that up.

Well I like the Isopure fruit drinks, which have 40 grams of protein. I also like the NewWhey protein bullets, which have 42 grams of protein. I but them at GNC. But other people have bought these items at Wal-Mart. I have never founf them at my local Wal-Mart.

Suggestions Needed - Trip to the ER - Emergency Unfill
Heather: So sorry this happening to you. Sounds like you are making the right decisions by contacting your doctor. I am sure they can refer you to a local ER, which can do the unfill.

Just wondering
Yep, the pain I had was difficult to manage with the pain meds given at the hospital. Because I did not do very well with the pain meds and because of another issue, I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days. But by day 7-post-op I was feeling great! I was sore, but not in pain. It does get better. Good luck!

Why!!!!
My doctor wants us to drink right up to the point we start eating. Their reasoning is that the Water makes you fuller and you consume less food. My doctor does not allow us to drink, while we are consuming ffod. And we cannot drink after a meal...we have to wait at least 60 minutes. It is interesting the variances between doctor's and their instructions.

Losing patience
Congrats and best wishes on your journey!

gall stones
There have been other Bandsters here that have had the gallbladder removed during the banding. Will your doctor consider that, so you don't have to go through to surgeries and two recoveries?

A Question for Runners
This is a great question. I always wondered when I could start running again. I use to be an avid runner as a teenager and in my twenties, but stopped when life became busy. Anyway, I power walk on the treadmill and log in my exercise on the exercise thread of this forum. I was reading through other peoples exercise and saw that there were people there who were my size running. How do the do that, I thought to myself. I thought I would not be able to do that until, I was in Onderland. But if other people are doing that then why can't I do that. And guess what, I can do that. I just began slowly doing it. It is hard, but every day I add more minutes of jogging/running to my exercise program. I really cannot believe I am doing it, but I am. I started running around 5.5 weeks post op. Now I am not a quick runner, but I will get there one day. I just know I will! Anyway, it is helping me lose more weight and tons of inches. And it has not caused any knee issues for me. Good luck!

Few questions
Yes, I felt hungry after surgery, while I was still in the hospital and that was with a 3cc fill at surgery. While I was in the hospital a burped so long and loud, I amazed myself. I never had gas issues, until the band. Now I do not have the burping thing anymore, but gas from the other end continue to occur at 2.5 months post op.

I have never heard of this before???

10 pounds in one day after surgery? You?
Not my experience, but I am sure there is a lot of Fluid and gas retention there. Glad you had your surgery!

Pouch bigger--help!!
Chuck, I have rad that on this forum before. I have heard that the doctor removes all the Fluid to give the pouch a rest/stomach. During this time, people go on the 5-day pouch test, which might help shrink the pouch. I don't know much other than that. Here is a link. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test Good luck!

January 2009 Exercise Challenge
Today: No work-outs. The dentist says my root canal has a bad infection, so I am now on a high dose of a different antibiotic. Let's hope it works.

Exercise frequency
I think the energy comes from more exericse. Sounds crazy, I know, but I gradual increase my exercise and I have more energy. My doctor also has me taking B12 under the tongue, which is suppose to help with energy as well. Right now I am doing 60 minutes on the treadmill 5 to 6 times a week. At least five times, but I try and do more. I always give myself one day off for good behavior. :bored:

Work outs and restriction
I go completely tight after a workout. This cannot be good for your overall health. Have you considered taking out a small portion of your fill? Talk to your doctor about the issues occurring with your last fill. Good luck!
