  1. A protein drink is great after exercise. Every Dr. is different. Mine never said don't drink them, so I do.
  2. I am doing the 21 day Daniel fast with Jentezen Franklin and need some support. I need some recipes that aren't so high in carbs if you have them and don't mind sharing them. My carb count on the fast is surpassing 100 per day. I'm still losing weight, but I would like to stay below 100 grams of carbs. I did find a frozen meal at Whole Foods called Amy's Tofu Scramble that is completely vegan that is relatively low carb. (19g) It also has the same amount of protein so it's balanced. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. The place I go to have colonics do this massage during the colonic for better results from the colonic. They also have what is called a soqi bed that is relaxing and helps you achieve better results from a colonic. Glad you tried something different. Congrats on your wedding!
  4. As we go into a New Year (2009), it's nice to reflect on our past year for what goals we accomplished and those we didn't accomplish and set new goals for the New Year. Now the goal is to set "attainable" goals, both short term and long term. Short-term goals are ones that you will achieve in the near future (e.g., in a day, within a week, or possibly within a few months). Long-term goals are ones that you will achieve over a longer period of time (e.g., one semester, one year, five years, or twenty years). Long-term goals often are our most meaningful and important goals. One problem, however, is that the achievement of these goals is usually far in the future. As a result, we often have trouble staying focused and maintaining a positive attitude toward reaching these goals. This is why it is helpful to set up what we call enabling goals. An enabling goal is a special type of shorter-term goal. It is written to help us achieve a long-term goal. Enabling goals are like stepping stones that help us measure our progress toward reaching longer-term goals. I had LB surgery in September and to date have lost 38 lbs. but did it quite haphazordly. Had I set goals for myself, I might weigh less. Setting goals is important which is why I started this thread. My goal for 2009 is to increase my exercise routine from 2-3 days to 4-6 days per week and at least 1 hour a day. Although I eat a pretty normal diet, I would like to juice fruits and vegis more and be more disciplined with meal planning so that I can stop eating by 7 P.M. every night. Short term goals include a weight loss of at least 2 lbs per week (8 lbs per month) average with the long term goal of 96 lbs by the end of 2009 causing me to reach my total (long term) weight loss goal and actually surpassing it. I look forward to you sharing what your goals are for the New Year 2009. Happy New Year and may you reach your goals!!!
  5. I've been to New York and NJ and NJ is just a train ride away from New York city. I would love to attend this conference and certainly don't mind staying in New Jersey.
  6. My husband and I decided that would be our gift to one another this Christmas. We got the Wii bundle with Wii Sports, Fit, Play and Mario Kart. I LOVE the Hula hoop, Yoga, step, balance games, bowling, tennis and even the running is interesting. I do the hula hoop daily in an attempt to rid myself of inches from my mid section. I still love going to the gym to do body pump, zumba and aqua aerobics then chillin in the sauna.
  7. Before getting banded in Sept, I read about people PB'ing and sliming and since I HATE throwing up, I mean it totally mortify's me I tried to do everything within my power to not PB; however, I have slimed and it's gross enough. I just hung over a toilet and spit til the episode ended, but NEVER have I PB'd...THANK GOD! I try to be very concious of chewing my food before swallowing. If you're distracted it is easy to swallow more than what you intended to and then you wait to see what's gonna happen. It's so much better to concentrate on eating and chewing so you don't risk the chance of something getting stuck. Good luck to you all in this wonderful weight loss journey and lets make some attainable goals for the new year.
  8. The gym I am a member at offers Les Mills programs. I did body pump with my trainer before being banded and saw great results. I didn't keep the weight off after no longer having my trainer. That's when I had lb surgery. Now I'm back into body pump and certainly follow it up with cardio. I do body pump and zumba back to back on Mondays and through out the remainder of the week find another form of cardio in conjunction with body pump. I've never tried body jam, body flow, body step (i hate regular step classes), body attack or body combat. I think I want to try body combat, body flow and body jam. I LOVE body pump.
  9. Are there people on here that do body pump? How do you like it and where do you do it?
  10. Everyone recovers differently. Tell her to be patient, this too shall pass. It took me all of 2 weeks to feel like a halfway normal. My first 2 weeks I second guessed myself and thought what in the world have I done to myself. Now, 3+ months out I'm feeling great and have a steady weight loss. Tell her to keep her head up, be postive and everything will be alright.
  11. I did the 2 week pre op medifast diet and there is no way in hell I would go back on that nasty diet. That is the grossest food ever. I can tolerate the protein shakes and the pudding but the rest is horrible! I will stick with weight watchers or lean cuisine if I must have a quick meal. I have lost a total of 35 lbs since my pre op diet.
  12. Lori, We all on here are or were "big" girls or guys. I totally understand how you feel, but you must face your fear and go to the gym. I have found that a group fitness class or aqua aerobics is great for helping to build your confidence in the gym. Also, you may want someone to show you how to use the exercise equipment properly and that will help build your confidence. Get on a bike or an eliptical and have fun with it. You can do it!
  13. After eating dinner one night I immediately drank some water and I felt like I had just swallowed a grapefruit and it was struggling to go down.and then I got the urge to swallow again and the experience was the same...it was painful to say the least. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a sign of being too tight? Also, when I eat certain things, I sometimes gurgle, but it goes down. Is that a sign of being too tight or is that my sweet spot. I just don't know what kind of feeling to have when I'm at my sweet spot.
  14. yes. I even eat a greek yogurt with no fruit. They just don't want food getting caught during the fill.
  15. Hmmmmmm, I'll have to ask about this. Thanks.
  16. your nurse searches for the port with her fingers, locates it, sticks the needle in and moves it around for about 30 - 50 seconds then tells you to tighten your stomach and when you do the nurse says "there, all done", when it could possibly not be done? Could the saline not make it into the right spot for tightening? And if so, where would the fluid go? How do they know "it's done or it's in the right spot"? I just had the 3rd fill yesterday and so far, I feel no different than I did prior to going in for the fill. Granted, I'm on the pureed stage til tomorrow then soft and then normal on Friday, but wouldn't I notice on the 2nd day if it took or am I being way too impatient. I'm so ready to be at my sweet spot and thought I was really close. I'm a little perplexed and don't know if I should or shouldn't be??? Curious if anyone else has ever thought about this?
  17. Love your signature!!! I'm shouting girl!!! Wendy's chili pureed is good for a quick pureed meal and filling too.
  18. I was told Tylenol only! Hope you get to feeling better.
  19. When looking down at my port incision, it is slightly to the right of my navel and about 4 inches above it.
  20. I totally gave up soda. My Dr. never said don't drink it...they serve it in diet form at support mtgs. I just chose not to indulge anymore and chose to drink more water. I have found it to be better for me and there's no bloating from carbonation. In the past, there was nothing more refreshing than a coke. I haven't had a soda in over 4 months.
  21. What brand of greek yogurt are you eating with 22g of proteing per serving? I'm eating fage single serving containers with 17 g of Protein because Oikos single serving containers do not have as much as fage. Please tell me which one you're eating. I want the 22g of protein. I LOVE greek yogurt. I like it with 1-2 t of splenda with fresh berries and a little granola with added walnuts for additional protein. It's a great night time snack.
  22. This is great to know. I'm flying to Paris next week and that's a long flight. I certainly do not want lb complications due to flying.
  23. I hear these stories about hair loss and thank God I have a lot of thick hair which means a little hair loss won't be as noticeable. I am taking biotin now which should help with that. Good luck to you all!
  24. I can't think of any reason a person couldn't and shouldn't do WW. I think it's a great idea to help keep yourself on track. WW is the only diet program my Doctor will reccomend. I also don't see why it is important for WW to know you had LB surgery. I certainly wouldn't tell them.
