  1. This may be it. I will try journaling again. Thanks!
  2. If I were to get a fill right now I would be PB'ing ALL the time. I have very good restriction. I'm just now sure if I should pick up the workout intensity. I may be eating too little. I'm going to begin journaling again.
  3. I was banded Sept 2, 2008 and have lost 46 lbs to date but I have been there now for at least 2 to 3 weeks and I'm taking 3-4 exercise classes a week (sometimes more) and training a couple times a week for 30 min at a time. I have good restriction and eat pretty healthy so I'm not really sure what I should be doing? I know other banders have been where I am. What did you do to get over your plateau?
  4. I hate chewable vitamins and have been in a search for a liquid vitamin. I found and just purchased a product online that Muhamed Ali's daughter took after her LB surgery. (link The Bariceutical Prescription, liquid vitamins exclusively designed for biaratric patients and bypass patients, the only one in the world.) I just wondered if any of my fellow Lapbanders on here have either heard of this product or used it. If you use or have used this product, please give me your honest opinion of what it did/n't do for you.
  5. Cheese sticks, 2% Fage greek yogurt, sardines, tuna etc... During a snack you should eat a protein as it will help curb your appetite longer. I ate brown rice 1 month after surgery. I'm not sure what your Dr. recommends though. Follow your Dr's. instructions. Good luck to you. By the way, 12/11 is me and my husbands anniversary.
  6. The anxiety and doubt you are experiencing is so normal. I had them too, but being 5 months post op, I wish I had done it sooner. As far as I'm concerned, for me, the lapband is my one of my miracle workers. It makes losing weight easier and sustanable although you still must do your part. It is your decision and you must be 100% sure that this is what you want and you're willing to do what it takes to make the band work for you. I trust you will make the decision to do what's in your best interest. Good luck!
  7. I wasn't able to have salad until 4 weeks after surgery but I do very well with salad. Just chew chew chew. That's the key.
  8. Mine was when I decided to travel with my husband on a business trip and for the very first time ever, I had to get a seatbelt extension. At that point, I said "this will NEVER happen again"!!! I tried to lose it on my own for over a year to only lose 36 lbs and new I needed another weight loss tool, thus the wonderful lapband. I wish I had made the decision way before I did. I am very happy with my decision.
  9. In the manual my Dr. gives to all of his patients under "Guidelines To Follow": Eat until comfortable NOT FULL Choose Protein first, vegis second, carbs last Eat slowly, chew well Don't drink 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals Avoid high calorie liquids Exercise daily Protein: Men: 80-100gm/d Women: 60-80 48-64 ounces Fluid per day Carbohydrates: 50-60 gm/d Fats 4-5 gms per meal I hope this helps.
  10. Great! I didn't pay attention to how old this was. Sorry.
  11. This is exactly why I did my research and found the Dr. I felt had the best reputation, loads of patients who HIGHLY recommended him and was extremely knowledable in the area of practice. I live in Indianapolis also and opted to drive to Cincinatti to have Dr. Trace Curry at JourneyLite perfom my surgery since I was a self pay. Not only is he a great Dr. but his staff is so professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and I was hooked after my consultation. To show how impressed I was, I went to a seminar, met with Dr. C the same day, scheduled all of my necessary apts. (nutritionist, psycologist, ekg, blood work) started my pre-op diet the following week and had surgery 2 1/2 weeks later. I am soooo happy I made that decision. I realise not everyone can do this, but I highly recommend you research, research, research. I know there are others in the city at IU Medical Center, St Vincents Bariatric etc... Keep your head up. You will find someone that you click with.
  12. OMG I was going to say the same thing about being judgemental about seeing heavy people being gluttonous, but I thought I would refrain thinking that I may offend someone. I wondered if anyone else felt that way.
  13. Most definitely!!!! I do not crave soda and when I tried one that was my all time favorite, I could barely drink it. I had a craving for a double cheesburger meal from McDonald and yuk, never again. My taste has totally changed for it...thank God. After eating, the mere smell of food makes me sick.
  14. All of your symptoms are normal occurances after LB surgery. It WILL pass. Welcome to band land.
  15. Oh, I learned my lesson. I wait now to take a drink and I start with a sip.
  16. It is important to follow your Doctors instruction post op. I did and had no problems at all. My Dr.'s recommendations were as follows: Day 1- Clear liquids only Day-2 thru 14 - Puree diet Day 15-30 (weeks 3 & 4) Soft diet Slowly add soft foods Day 30 and after - Regular diet (low carb/High protein)
  17. For those of you who don't know if "your" LB is working for you or have had your band and are not losing weight, read this article and try this 5 day pouch test. Although I am restricted pretty good, I am going to take the test myself and report my results. I encourage you to do the same. They also have liquid Vitamins that was formulated by a band patient who basically had no energy by 5 in the evening, thus becoming a couch potato. Vitamins are important and I HATE chewable vitamins but have never 100% completely felt any different taking vitamins. I will try these as well and report my results. If you would like to do the same, you will see the BariCeutical Vitamins in the column to the right of the article and 5 day pouch test plan. Click and read about. It's pretty darn interesting. :cursing: Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test
  18. I don't think the answer is etched in stone, however, my trainer told me it's best to do weight training prior to cardio because you need your strength and air capacity to complete your reps. Imagine doing 30 mins to and hour of cardio and then trying to do weight training. Your endurance isn't going to be what it would have been if you did weights first and you're so out of breath, when you need to breath hard to get those last 3-4 of a rep of 12 in, it's difficult after cardio. I have been doing it this way and it's actually feels better to do cardio after a nice weight training session. Try it. Here is a good article to read. Should You Do Cardio Before Or After Your Weight Training Workout?
  19. Mine is on the right of my navel and about 2.4 inches above it. I think it's just the surgeons preference.
  20. You MUST add it to your schedule. In addition to that, prepare getting your workout stuff together the night before. Most importantly, starting out, you need to find some form of exercise that would be fun to you. For instance, if you like to dance, Zumba, Body Jam or just popping in the electric slide, cha cha slide, or cupid shuffle cd's and do them for 30 min starting out and increase the time every week. You do need some strenght training so you could start of with resistance bands and small hand weights and possible a body pump class whicc I LOVE!!! Good luck in your exercise search.
  21. ALWAYS!!!!! She has proven results too which makes it easier to believe her. Thanks Jachut!
  22. I can eat bread in moderation and as long as it's been reduced to a mush prior to swallowing. I choose not to eat too much bread though.
  23. I like the Champion Pure Whey Protein Powders. I add frozen fruits, fage greek yogurt and 100% pure organic flax oil to them also. Delicious.
  24. You can add a single container of Fage 2 % greek yogurt to any of your protein drinks for more protein. It will add 20g of protein and once you're off the liquid stage this is another great way to get in protein on the mushy or pureed stage and it's delicious mixed with spenda and other fruits and/or granola.
  25. I tolerate and LOVE oatmeal!!! I like either organic rolled oats or steel cut. Both are very nutritional. I put 1 t earth balance buttery spread, a little brown sugar, raisins and walnuts and it's a meal in and of itself. Yum!!!
