  1. I am having this problem 6 mos out. What did you do to remedy the problem? I called my Dr. today and NP said for me to treat with mylanta and go to a liquid diet for 2 days, then 1 day of pureed, 1 day soft, then back to normal eating. She said if after that it persists, they will want me to come in for an x-ray.
  2. It's quite amazing to me how we all tolerate things differently. I can eat eggs, but couple it with bacon and it's complete failure. I certainly feel your pain with PB'ing incidents. Although I haven't had many, I HATE it! Congrats on the weight loss success. You're doing wonderful. Keep it up.
  3. I remember the night before my surgery. Many blessings and have a quick recovery. I would do it all over again.
  4. I was banded in Cincinnati by Dr. Trace Curry, the band doctor @ Journeylite. Love Dr. C and his staff. I drove 2 hours to have surgery by Dr. C. Good luck with whomever you select.
  5. Hello. I am curious to know if it would be ok to have a tummy tuck prior to reaching your goal weight? I had LB surgery on Sept 2, 2008 and to date have lost 54 lbs. I have approximately 75 lbs remaining to lose. I carry most of my weight in my mid section and it would just be so much more attractive to have the gut gone. Please advise. Thanks.
  6. My sweet spot was none of the options in the poll. I experienced my sweet spot approx. 2 weeks after my 3rd fill which brought me to 4.8 cc's in a 10 cc band. Why it took 2 weeks, I'll never know. I do know that I am tighter during that special time of the month for us ladies. I had a very difficult time eating solid foods without hurting during that time. Most of the time I do ok, but I do have gurgling and noises much of the time. I have considered having a very slight unfill. Still not sure if I should or not. I've PB'd twice and I simply HATE it! :glare:
  7. Dress simple and comfortable. I wore a loose sundress with slip on shoes. Soft bra, soft panties.
  8. I was banded on Sept 2, 2008 and didn't feel great restriction until my 3rd fill on December 2, 2008 which took me to 4.8 cc's in a 10 cc band. I haven't had to have another fill since then and I'm still losing weight.
  9. $9950??? Are you serious! I paid $12,999 and I thought that was good, and I traveled to get that. WOW!!![QUOTE=work_in_progress;1194500]I'm self pay too and I live in Atlanta. I'm traveling to Denver May 14th for my surgery. Dr. Gerald Kirschenbaum offers the surgery for $9950. It's anywhere from $15 to $20K here in Atlanta. Good luck!
  10. I'm not sure when your surgery was, but here was my post op diet as prescribed by my Dr.: Day 1- Clear Liquids Days 2-14 - Puree diet Days 15-30 - Slowly add soft foods (i.e. eggs, rice, Pasta, vegis.) Days 30 and after - regular diet It sounds as though you may have jumped the gun with regard to they types of foods you're eating at this particular stage. Please consult your Dr. about the vomiting. I didn't PB for about 5 month after my surgery. Good luck to you!
  11. This is the first time I have ever heard of "esophageal stacking". What the heck is that all about? Over stuffing your pouch up into your esophagus? hmmmm?
  12. I have a treadmill and a recumbent bike. I love Hip Hop Abs and Zumba,(both of which I do at home daily except Sunday) however, I enjoy going to the gym for classes such as Body pump, Zumba, Body flow and Aqua Aerobics.
  13. I've read where women shouldn't drop below 1200 calories. It's really based on your height, weight, age and how active you are. Here is a link where you can calculate what your intake should be. Of course for us lapbanders, the number of calories may be difficult to get in because of the amount of food we can consume at one sitting. This is why more frequent smaller meals are good in my opinion. Calories Per Day Calculator - Basal Metabolic Rate
  14. By the way, what you have lost thus far is GREAT! I've been at this almost 6 mos and am currently at 48 lbs lost. Congrats!
  15. Check your calorice intake. Journaling is the best way to determine this. Are you doing any kind of weight training? If so, that could be the reason for the gain as it builds muscle which is what burns fat. Cardio is great everyday. I started Hip Hop Abs by Shaun T and followed his diet and lost 2 lbs in 3 days which broke my plateau. Best wishes!
  16. I had it sometime ago and it was very painful. I wasn't permitted to eat anything with hulls or a shell such as; peas, lima beans, corn, nuts, popcorn etc... This has nothing to do with the band and everything with your diet.
  17. First, congratulations on your surgery. Don't be so hard on yourself. Discipline is our best friend, however, we slip up sometimes and the best thing to do is look forward. You can't change the past, just don't continue to repeat it. Try not to fall below 1000 calories as you will find it difficult to continue losing weight. I'm not sure if you watch the Biggest Loser, but like they say, you must eat to lose and especially if you are working out intensely. I'm glad to know someone else that has Hip Hop Abs. I think Shaun T is so motivating and if my Husband is doing it too, it must truly be fun. You'd have to know my Husband to fully understand. I love Zumba as well and actually I think I like it better. I combine the Hip Hop Abs with a Zumba daily in addition to what I do at the gym. I'm almost at 6 months post op and I'm close to 50lbs weight loss. I am so excited I can't see straight. By the way, what kind of weight loss did you experience when you began Hip Hop Abs? I'm curious. Take care!
  18. I was at a plateau when I purchased Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T and decided to give it a try despite my coordination challenges. I had also purchased zumba dvd's by Beto Perez and they got here in time for me to begin on this past Monday (February23rd). I have followed Shaun T's 6 day diet challenge which is a high protein/low carb diet to the T. Since Monday, I have lost 2 lbs and will measure loss of inches on Sunday. I was at a plateau for about 3 weeks. If you want to have fun doing cardio, try these programs. You won't be sorry, especially if you like to dance. It's a blast! What's funny is my husband does it and sweats something fierce and he loves it. I do my strength training at the gym 3 days a week for the most part.
  19. No way. I just wished I had it much sooner than I did.
  20. There's no way I could have gone back to work that soon. It took me at least 2 weeks to get back into the swing of things. I went back to my calendar and saw that at 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery I went to a wedding.
  21. It helpls to pay attention. My bad
  22. I think the majority of those who had surgery felt this way at some point post op. I certainly did and regretted it until about 2 weeks post op. After that I began feeling so much better and now after over 5 months I don't regret it at all. I'm looking forward to a healthier future. You'll be fine in a couple of weeks or less.
  23. I have a 10cc band and I'm at 4.8 cc's which was my third fill at which time I felt good restriction. quote=alyciaboo;1147896]:thumbup:can i just ask what type of band and size do most people have cause your fills dont seem the same as mine ive got an ap small with 10cc capacity ive had 2 fills so far and im at 6cc they have told me i wont have more than 8cc in my band
  24. Thanks! I have been consumed with weighing myself. I will start measuring more and weigh less.
