  1. Hello everyone. I want to thank all of you for answering my question and sharing your personal experiences. I started my weight loss surgery journey with my heart completely leading me to get the band. When I went in for my first consultation with the surgeon, he recommended the RNY for me considering my co-morbidities and family history. He told me that he would still do the band if I chose but felt that I would be more successful with the RNY. So I am scheduled to have that surgery done on March 3. I have finally shared this information with people that I had not shared with up to now. To my amazement a few had several questions regarding WLS. I have shared my knowledge from what I learned during my Quest. I have researched all of the surgeries endlessly, but I felt the need to give my interested friends first hand information from people who have actually experienced the band. You are all very inpirational. It is so good to hear that many of you have found life again and are living it rather than just watching it pass you by. I am looking forward to living again too. I pray that all of you have many years of success and new found happiness with your bands. For those of you who are experiencing stalls or complications I pray that you find resolve and you are able to move forward full force. My friends will be relieved to hear that most of you don't regret the band at all. Since the band is the route to weight loss they have chosen. Bless all of you and Thanks again. Teresa
  2. I have heard many success stories and some complications due to the being banded. My question is do any of you regret your decision and if so why? Thanks for sharing.
  3. How exciting. I am still waiting for my surgery date. Someone from the surgery center should be calling sometime soon (I hope). I just had my EGD and ultrasound done on Friday 1/16 which for me is the last step since I've already jumped through all of the other hoops. I am so glad to hear that you are doing well and feel better from the weight loss already. New's like this is so inspiring. I can't wait to go shopping for new clothes one day either.
  4. I haven't had surgery yet but was planning on having the lap band. However when I went to the first meeting with my surgeon he suggested that the rny would be better for me. I have insulin resistance and like 140 lbs to loose. I was so confused. So I did all of the research and asked a lot of questions and made a pros and cons list. I made the decision to have rny. For me it is the best fit. I don't want the maintenance that the band requires. I don't want to be able to absorb the high calorie foods that I'd be able to with the band (like ice cream). I don't want to worry about erosion or slippage. So for me this is the way to go. I wish you luck with your decision. It is a hard one I know. But you'll be OK.
  5. Sorry for your situation but LOL the way you put it is hilarious. So true. HEEHEE. Keep the shoes on.
  6. I hope that's just a myth because I need to dye my grays often lol.
  7. Not banded yet. I have done on the preliminaries and am waiting to attend my surgeon consultation on Dec. 22. I'm 5'6 and weigh 280 but when I began this journey I weighed 294. I had thought of doing this for many years when I went of 230. My hubby was against surgery because he didn't like the idea of losing me under the knife but not that he realizes I can't do it on my own he is very supportive because he doesn't want to lose me to morbidly obese ailments. Anyway I am doing this because I want to live a long happy life. Right now I am just existing and not enjoying my life. I have five kids and 2 grand children who I need to be around for and also want the energy to keep up with. I'll be 40 in Jan. and the surgery would be a great Christmas of birthday gift. I wasted the decade of the 30's and I'll be damned if I spend my forty's fat and miserable. I used to be one hot mama never, ever skinny but I was a good looking chick if I may say so myself. I enjoyed all of the attention I used to get. Funny I still get attention at 280 lbs. just not as much, guess some guys like big, big girls lol. I don't have unrealistic expectations, I know I will never be 25 and cute again but I can be 40 and gorgeous or at least feel gorgeous. I know that without a lot of this weight I will have more self esteem and energy. Which will lead to a healthier lifestyle. I would like to be 170 lbs. I don't want to ever be skinny I like myself on the thick side. Anyway I am doing this to live.
  8. I haven't been banded yet but I can understand your concerns. I just want to say cross that bridge when you come to it. For now focus on you and your health. Get to know the new you and you will be able to determine what you really desire in life. Those previous relationships were just trial the real one is still ahead of you and when it happens you'll look back and ask yourself why you wasted time worrying about the old stuff. As you lose weight your thoughts of yourself will change and you will become more confident and not willing to take crap from anyone. Not just because you look good but because you finally realize your true worth. When dating begins go into it with the mindset of having a good time. Just enjoy the company and enjoy your new life and focus on you and the rest will all fall into place. Good luck with all of your goals and I wish you peace of mind.
  9. I haven't had surgery yet and still waiting to finish all the pre-op appointments. So I am not sure exactly what they are looking for with your pre-op diet. However from reading all of the threads I believe the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver. If you only cheated on Saturday and got back on the wagon on Sunday and have been following your diet since, don't worry. The one day will not big that big of a deal. Just keep moving forward and stay focused. You'll be fine. Good luck with the rest of the week and NO MORE CHEATING :smile2:. Also good luck with your surgery Friday.
  10. You know it must not be to common though because every guy that has happened with was pleasantly surprised. They never experienced it before. It seemed also, that for them pleasing me to that extent made them puff and beat their chest like king kong heehee.
  11. Hey Tex, I saw on a health show one time that with every 20 lbs a man loses he gains an inch.
  12. Guess I'm the odd ball here. I know exactly where my g-spot is and have multiple orgasms and have squirted without trying. I just go with the feeling and It just happens. Your right it is a little messy but we don't mind because it's worth the clean up afterward.
  13. I must admit that I thought about getting one only to keep an eye on the 14 year old but decided against it and assigned my two older kids to keep an eye and ear out. I'm glad I have them otherwise I would have to get one. Gotta stay on top of those kids.
  14. I must add to my previous list. I will be happy to be able to play Guitar Hero with my kids and not have a problem holding the guitar against me comfortably. Not having my three year old ask me if I'm having a baby or bounce against my belly for fun. Feeling confident that my husband really means it when he says I'm beautiful. (He says he really means it now but I just feel yucky in my skin). Will probably add more later.
  15. No myspace page here either. Most of my kids have one though (age 14-24). I just don't feel the need for one. Seems a little adolescent to me. Probably just because my kids have one. But that's just my opinion. I'm not putting it down, I just don't feel the need to have one.
