  1. Thanks everybody! I'm feeling a little more at ease with this whole fill thing.
  2. WOW! Okay, I'm with the program. I got the band now I need to have restriction in it. I'll keep my appointment. I was sure tryin to weasel out of it...as if you couldn't tell. Thanks.
  3. Thanks RM! I'm such a wuss (sp) when it comes to needles. I swear I must not have heard that part about the fill with needles. I'll just close my eyes and bite my lip. If they stick me like my Anesthesiologist did, that'll be great. He was wonderful.
  4. Yeah, I think I will wait and see. I know not everyone is poked and poked, but I don't want to be. Thanks RM, I won't borrow trouble
  5. Ouch!!! It still sounds like it hurts. Thanks for explaining it to me. Mine is scheduled at 4 weeks. Does that sound too soon?
  6. I am 2 weeks post op and my incisions are not 100% healed. I have my first fill scheduled for September 29th. Is this too soon? I hate needles and I'm concerned about the pain and the amount of time it takes? I'm not tryin to be poked and poked like I've seen others. I'm just not havin it. Please help me understand the fill process. :tt1:
  7. OMG I had that horrible pain just like you everytime I ate or drank. I haven't had it now for a couple of days. I think I may be over it. I didn't have the burping thing going on, I was praying for a burp. I just took my steri strips off my incisions and they look good. Take care and you'll be just fine.
  8. RM, you're a hoot. My surgery was on the 2nd and my steri strips still haven't fallen off. Because I had surgery out of State, I will wait until the day I have to take a digital picture of my incisions to email my Dr. I am in no hurry to take them off. I do have one that is loosening up to fall of though.
  9. My Dr. does the Medifast diet exclusively and has been very successful with completing surgeries on patients who stuck with it. I deviated a little with skinless boneless chicken breast, lf cottage cheese and some veggies no butter and my surgery was done in 15 minutes and considered to be very successful. You may try medifast: Medifast Official Site | Quick, Easy Clinically Proven Weight Loss You will however need to do clear liquid post-op for up to 48 hours. Good luck.
  10. I had the same issues until day 4 and 5 post-op. I'm now 11 days post-op and feeling better and better and no shoulder pain. It gets better. I stayed on pain meds until I could feel the shoulder pain no more.
  11. I LOVE aqua aerobics!!! I can't wait to get back into it. Weight loss is slower, but if you walk or do another form of cardio in conjunction with it you should lose steadily and tone. Any form of exercise in the Water I love.
  12. You must. I had to sleep on my back right out of surgery and can now can sleep on my right side, but not my left. I am a stomach sleeper and can't wait to be able to again.
  13. I did a 3 day mucoid plaque cleanse along with my pre-op diet and lost 15 lbs prior to surgery and another 5 after since surgery. I'm for a good cleanse.
  14. You'll do just fine. We look forward to hearing from you tomorrow. Congrats!!!
  15. Oh, that sounds soooooooo GOOD! Thanks, I'm gonna get that.
  16. Yes I can, but I'm looking for a variety of different protein shake recipes to add some excitement to protein shakes. That Banana one with mango sounds scrumptious!!!
  17. There were a select few I told. It had to be people I trust won't tell and those I knew would support me. I chose not to tell my parents because my Mom is a worry wart and she would have been a mess prior to surgery. I didn't want her to have that worry. Now, after surgery, I still don't think it necessary to tell them. I'm o.k. I told 1 of my brothers, a girlfriend who wants to have the LB done too, my godsister, my daughter and of course my biggest supporter, my HUBBY. So far, so good.
  18. I was completely naked under the hospital gown they give you that opens up. Guess what, when they open it to do your surgery, you're naked. I had socks on my feet and a surgery cap on my head.
  19. I was scheduled for surgery at 2; arrived at 1. I was prepped for surgery, my husband came in and kissed me and off to the surgery room we went. Once we got in there they asked me to get over onto another bed/table, put a mask over my face and told me to take deep breaths. Next thing I rembember I was waking up with a device inside me called a lapband. I took pain meds., ate some ice chips, walked across the room to a comfy chair, my husband came in, they gave me my clothes to change into and we left and went to our hotel just before 5 P.M. I had broth, diluted juice and water for the next 48 hours. My husband was shocked when 15 min. after he kissed me, the surgeon was coming out to tell him he was done and I did great. To date it's been 8 days and I'm doing well. You'll do just fine. You might want your dad to stay with you; I would. According to how I felt, I wouldn't have minded visitors if I had to stay the night. You will want to take comfy loose clothing that doesn't rub your belly due to your incisions. I wore a loose sundress with flip flops. Best wishes.
  20. Here's a good article on supplements; natural vs synthetic Natural Vs. Synthetic Vitamins
  21. I take a liquid vitamin with minerals called IntraMax. It has over 415 essential nutrients and is naturally rich in carbon, oxygen and fulvic acid. It's expensive, but worth it to me and it's peach/mango flavor and taste really good. One bottle will last you 1 month. Do a google search on IntraMax and most will ship it to you free. If you don't want to take this, the only other vitamin I recommend are Whole food vitamins.
  22. I'm finding that by eating protein, I'm really not hungry and I am in no way eating the amount I use to eat. I am at the 20 lb weight loss mark from the pre-op diet to now on pureed. I have my first fill scheduled for September 29th and I was thinking 4 weeks after surgery was too early. Once again, everyone's body reacts differently. What works for you may not work for me and the other way around. Find what works for you and I'm sure you'll be fine. This whole weight loss thing takes time, let's not rush it. Enjoy the ride.
  23. I haven't been since being banded, however, Bistro 110 @ Michigan St & Pearson is FABULOUS!!! Not so expensive, Portillo's, and of course UNO's or DUE Pizzeria's.
  24. I'm a coffee LOVER, but I only drink it black, no sugar. Straight 100% coffee. I have since I was a kid. Me and my dad would sit at the table and drink pots of black coffee, eat and talk, mostly about the bible. Wow, those were great times. When I saw the title and saw "Coffee lovers", I had to read. Glad you found something you like and best of all you shared it with others.
  25. Might want to try some strength training and increase your cardio.
