  1. I have not tried the flavored ones yet. I wish I knew of it in the beginning. I had a very difficult time with the shakes.
  2. I recently tried the Bariatric Pal's Honey Nut Protein Cereal. I don't think I would waste my $$ on it again. It is expensive. $15 for 7 small envelopes.
  3. Just tried the Bariatric Pal Hot Cocoa. It is so good! It tastes just like regular hot cocoa. I was very surprised.
  4. I appreciate your review.
  5. All plans are different. My docs told us/my class, not to drink alcohol after surgery. I am not a drinker, so it doesn't affect me.
  6. That sound delish!! Where are you getting these recipes from? Some people say Pinterest, but I am not on that.
  7. My nutritionist told me the same thing. She said even though it has more protein in it, it is still processed, and not good for me. I just wanted to try it for myself. I am kind of glad I didn't like it, so I will never buy it again.
  8. Its not just the texture of it, even though it was weird. It was the after taste worst of all.
  9. I am not really one for experimenting with food too much. If I can buy it, I usually will to try it.
  10. The protein cereal doesn't sound so good. I guess it will be oatmeal as usual. After surgery I don't like eggs too much. I have cooked them thinking I will eat them, and end up throwing them away. I am not, or ever been much of a yogurt eater. I am lactose intolerant, and have tried those, but I don't like it. I did end up buying the caramel flavored Fairlife Protein Shake (someone on here told me about it), and I do like that one. I have not tried the chocolate yet. Funny how our taste changes after surgery.
  11. I hope it helps you. You too!
  12. My doc told me to put ice on it, and it helped.
  13. So I decided to try Jim Buddy's Protein Donut, from the Bariatric Pal Store. I got the cake batter flavor. I did not like it at all. I am so mad that I wasted $3 on it! It had a weird texture, and left an awful aftertaste in my mouth. I knew it wasn't going to be like a regular donut, but didn't expect it to be so bad.
  14. I had the same thing happen to me. It will go away. I had it for about a week or two after surgery. Mine was around the incision, but not on them. I would still ask the doc.
  15. I got it from eating too much/taking one too many bites of food, because I didn't think I was eating enough protein. I should have just stopped when I felt full, but didn't. I started sweating profusely, feeling light headed, then had really bad cramps, followed by pooping my brains out. You would have thought I learned my lesson, but then did it again, and again. I also got it when I ate too many snacks at night. I have not done it now for about a week or so. I am 6 months out now, and at this point I believe I have learned my lesson.
  16. This is MY support group. I like how everyone is very respectful of each other. We were all given different diets/plans to follow by our docs. Everyone seems willing to answer questions, and tell their stories, and it helps a lot.
  17. What is everyone eating for cold cereal? I am 6 months out, and sick of eating oatmeal. Not sure if I can eat regular cold cereal, or something else at this point. Of course, I wouldn't eat the crappy stuff.
  18. It is so interesting to see that everyone's surgeon/plans are so very different.
  19. I ate just about everything I could get my hands on before the surgery. I didn't have to lose any weight because I was 216lbs. The docs actually told me not to lose any weight. I had the surgery because I was diabetic. Now that I am 6 months out, I can't/don't want to eat any of those foods. I know they will make me sick. I actually don't miss them. I thought I missed/craved pasta, but have tried alternatives that are better for me, and I am able to enjoy them.
  20. I just had my 6 month follow up, and this was one of my ?'s I had for the docs...to continue doing this? I was told by the nutritionist, and the doc that this will be the ongoing rule forever. Both said it had to do with digestion. Both also said that taking a "sip" of water right after eating is fine. Like if your throat feels dry, etc.
  21. I have lost 77 lbs., and 77% body fat. I am 6 months out. I am 51 yrs. old. I have been overweight almost my entire life. I have not exercised at all. I do not have that much extra skin, which is very surprising as I carry most weight in my belly. I was seriously thinking about plastic surgery, but I don't know if I would want to go thru with it. If I can "hide" it under my clothes, then so be it. If I had the surgery 10-15 yrs. ago, then I most likely would have opted for the plastics. I think that age has a lot to do with this decision. Not that I am old, but at this point in my life, I am just happy to have lost the weight, be healthy, and no longer a diabetic, (the main reason for my surgery).
  22. I am 6 months out. My hair loss is devastating! My nutritionist told me that nothing over the counter will work. She suggested I start taking Flaxseed Oil pills every day. I started taking them in the end of my 4th month. My hair has not started growing back yet, but it has def slowed down the amount I was losing. I noticed a big difference this month. Not sure if the Flaxseed Oil is responsible, but I am relived a little bit.
  23. I had the bypass 6 months ago. For the first month, I couldn't even drink water without feeling sick. I had to get a script for a nausea patch that is worn behind the ear. I could only drink Peppermint tea. By the second month, I could only eat Cream of Wheat, and a little bit of Oatmeal. I couldn't drink Protein drinks until my 4th to 5th month, and even now, I didn't drink them very often. I recently tried the Carmel flavored Fairlife, and I do like that one. I eat raw, unsalted almonds, and walnuts if I get hungry between meals. It is my go to food. I haven't had a problem with it. Have you tried to eat Cottage Cheese? I eat that instead of yogurt, because I don't like yogurt, and it has more protein. I still have a lot of mucus when I eat. I have to spit after almost every bite I take. I asked the doc about it, and they didn't seem concerned. Oh, and if my hubby cooked anything, the smell would make me feel so sick, I would have to go outside to get air.
  24. Have to say that going braless, or just wearing a cami is def a plus for me.
  25. I used to eat tuna all the time, but now I hate it. The smell of it makes me feel sick. Hubby made some the other day, and I could not get rid of the smell in my head. It was awful! I noticed that my smell has changed more than my eating habits. If my hubby makes something with cooked onions, it makes me feel ill also. Weird.
