  1. I am a little over 6 months out. I have always carried my weight in my belly. I do have some loose skin. With this being said, I am looking forward to some type of surgery. Not sure what yet. I still have to wait for another 6 months, according to the docs, but I am sure it won't change the skin much. I feel somewhat confident now that I can cover it up with winter clothing, but not sure how I am going to feel, once I have to wear less clothes in the hot weather. If I had to wear a bathing suit, I would most likely wear a swim dress, or at least something that covered my belly. I could never wear a bikini at this point. I don't even know if I would feel comfortable after surgery.
  2. Everyone is different, and will lose at different rates of time. It sounds like your doing great so far. I wouldn't worry too much. Just give it time.
  3. Currently living in Southern NH.
  4. You will find that people react differently when you tell them. My parents, and husband were in full support of my decision, and have been my biggest cheerleaders during this whole thing. I am now just over 6 months out. I just saw my parents yesterday, and they were full of compliments. I generally see them once a month. Hubby was very supportive in the beginning, but now he is a little weary of my loss. He keeps asking if I am going to lose more. He has said that I am starting to look to skinny, and sickly. At first I was pissed off, then I realized that he is right. I don't want to keep losing, but it is just happening without me trying. My sister on the other hand has been nothing but a b***h during this whole thing. She has said very rude things to me around Christmas time. We have not spoken since. The way I look at it is this, I did this for myself, and no one else. I did it for my health, and the weight loss is just a bonus. I only told those that were close to me because I felt it was nobody's business what I do with my body. Easter is coming, and that means I will see cousins, aunts, uncles, who I haven't seen since my surgery. I am sure they will ask questions. I honestly don't know if I will tell them about the WLS, or just say I was dieting, going to the gym, etc.
  5. I didn't know that Miralax could be used on a daily basis? I made an appt. with a gastro. What is a db dose?
  6. I am past 6 months, and was told from the docs that I should start exercising. I have absolutely no motivation at all. I hate to exercise. I never liked it. It is not because I am lazy at all. It is just because I find it to be very boring. The weather is starting to break here, so my exercise will be to walk around the neighborhood.
  7. Well, as a follow up, I am still having bad cramps, and pooping this morning, and I still don't feel good. I was fine until I ate the chili yesterday at lunchtime. Something is definitely not agreeing with me from it. I wish I knew what it was?
  8. I decided to try/buy the turkey chili from the bariatric store. It tastes pretty good, and has a great texture. I thought everything was good until the massive cramps, and pooping started. OMG!! I was doubled over in pain for over an hour today. It was awful! I still don't feel well, and wasn't able to each much of my dinner. I will never buy that again! Another waste of $$.
  9. I haven't had to shave my legs for a few years now. I used to have to shave almost every day. It is weird.
  10. Not hormonal. I had a "forced" hysterectomy when I was only 26. My endocrine doc just tested my blood approx. a month ago, and all my hormones are in check. It has only happened after the WLS.
  11. To get rid of my diabetes. Be able to move around without the use of a cane, or wheelchair. Those are the main things. There are so many others. Too many to list.
  12. The main one for me is no longer being a diabetic. Don't have to use a cane, or a wheelchair to get around. No more C-Pap machine. Fibro has got a lot better, decreased pain. Going from 13 meds to only 3. Much more energy. Not sleeping for 14 hours a day. Not sweating all the time, having a red face. Feeling healthy, eating good for me foods. Feel good about myself for once. Fitting in my car a lot more comfy, being able to wear my seatbelt, without it squishing me. Much more comfy in my bed, lots more room to move around. Actually looking forward to going to the beach, and wearing a cute bathing suit. So many more things have changed. My outlook on life is much more positive now.
  13. Yes, thank you. Your one of the people that suggested it to me!
  14. Just here to let you know that I took some advice. I was craving pasta so badly. A few of you told me to try Chickpea Pasta. I was very unsure about it. I bought some, and it was in my cabinet for a couple of weeks. I kept saying that I would try it the next day for dinner, but then I would talk myself out of it. LOL Well, I finally bit the bullet last night. I made chicken sausage, with peppers, and onions, then put it into low sugar spaghetti sauce. Boiled up some of the "pasta", and it was absolutely delicious! It was a little bit harder than regular pasta, but it took the craving away. Now I can experiment with it some more. I love this site because a few of you have given me some great ideas to try. Thank You, and keep them coming. ☺️
  15. I started eating Joseph's Whole Wheat Pita bread at 6 months out. That is when my docs said it was safe to eat. I only eat 1/2 of a 1/2. That is all my belly can take. I am still eating small amounts of food. I am Middle Eastern also, and we had bread at every meal.
  16. I had dumping a few times. Mine was due to eating too much sugar, and eating one too many bites of food. I also got the sweats, cramps, and had to lie down because I felt dizzy/lightheaded. Try drinking some peppermint tea, or eating an Altoids. It worked for me. I also laid on my left side in the fetal position.
  17. I had so many stalls so far. It gets very frustrating. Mine lasted for 3-4 weeks at a time. I am currently in one now. Trying to get to my goal weight now for about a month. I keep getting within 3-4 lbs. then go back up again. Uggghhh so aggravating. I just keep telling myself that its temporary. Just keep up the good work, and eventually it will get past.
  18. When just starting out, it is very hard to get to the required goal. I did not even come close. It gets better with time.
  19. I was told to never chew gum again. It does all the stuff that Creekimp13 says. Its not worth the risk. I have just started eating sugar free mints again. My doc gave the permission at 6 months out. I was told not to eat more than 2 per day.
  20. Well times have changed. I went for the 6 month checkup on 2/23, and was told to start taking the same vitamins, but with 45 mgs of Iron. Now I am severely constipated. I am in a lot of pain, and have hemorrhoids so bad that I can barely sit down. I purposely ate more sugar to see if it would make me dump, and it has not worked. I am so frustrated right now.
  21. Your only human. No worries. Just move forward, and don't beat yourself up for it.
  22. I was really bad for the first month. I couldn't even drink water without feeling sick. The only thing I could tolerate was peppermint tea. I had to get a script from the doc for nausea. Maybe you can ask your doc about it. It does help. My sensitivity to smell was the worst. Every time my hubby would cook something, I had to go outside because I felt so sick. By the second month I could eat cream of wheat, and a little bit of oatmeal. It got a little better for me each month.
  23. I did not see the spicy cashew. I will have to look for it. I wonder if they sell it on Amazon, so maybe you could get it from there?
  24. All plans are different for everyone. You had the sleeve, and I had the bypass. I have noticed that different docs have very different plans. It is very confusing. I also noticed that it is very different for people around the world. It seems like the USA is very strict compared to other countries.
  25. I have noticed that all of our plans are very different. It is very confusing. I just call my docs office & keep asking questions.
