Im down about 40 lbs in total and about 25 since surgery... feeling great but still learning how to eat differently!

Surgery Day!!!!!
Good luck! I struggled with protein right after surgery. I drank a lot of Fairlife skim milk and Pedialyte.

Paleo easy homemade pancakes
I don't do paleo, but I do really like this homemade protein pancake recipe: -1/2 cup quick oats -1/2 banana -1 egg (or 2 egg whites) -1 scoop of protein powder -1 tsp vanilla -1 tsp cinnamon Blend it all together to make a batter, then cook them like regular pancakes. You can substitute applesauce or pumpkin puree for the banana. You can add a little bit of milk or water if the batter is too thick (but I like mine thick).

Cottage cheese
Hello and happy Mother’s Day to all you mommas out there! I have a question about cottage cheese. My dietician has recommended the cheeses and dairy I eat are fat-free or low fat. This hasn’t really bothered me until I tried low fat cottage cheese. The texture was grainy and horrendous. I can’t do it. Does anyone still eat full fat cottage cheese? I love it and it’s a good source of protein, I just can’t do the low fat version ?

OOTD
Yesterday I graduated with my Masters degree in education. The ceremony was held outside in the 50 degree weather ?? then my boyfriend and I attended his cousins wedding. I really wanted a full body pic of my outfit, but this will do ☺️

Ate Too Fast
I felt better immediately after vomiting, but I agree that this response could help me in the long run. I have done really well with eating slowly, and I was just too impatient last night so I had to pay the price. Also, I haven’t eaten anything that has disagreed with my stomach. The only thing that makes me nauseous are protein shakes.

Ate Too Fast

Do I have an eating disorder?
@ShoppGirl seriously, thank you for posting this. I've been experiencing the same thing. My psychiatrist referred me to a specific program that works with bariatric patients and disordered eating. I haven't gone yet because I am waiting for school to be done for the year that way I have more time to go to appointments. I am really anxious to get started with this because my head has been telling me to eat when I'm not hungry, kind of like before the surgery. With that being said, I'd like to hear where your journey takes you and maybe we can stay in touch. Best of luck!

Ate Too Fast
Let me start this off by saying this: I made a mistake, learned from my mistake, I won't do it again.... so please don't judge or lecture me. OKAY, now. Last night I was exhausted and just wanted to go to bed, but I hadn't eaten supper yet. I heated up some leftover shrimp and veggies and I only heated up an appropriate amount for the stage I am at. I normally put my fork down for 2 minutes after every bite, but the food was going down fine and I was so stinking tired and I really slacked on putting my fork down like I should (huge mistake). About 10 minutes after I finished, I felt super sick and threw most of it up. I felt better after throwing it up. So, I won't be doing anything stupid like that again, but I am wondering: is this a common response for eating too quickly? Thanks for reading!

Brusing
Not sure about the bruising, but for the drinking I think you are fine. Liquid doesn't stay in the stomach long, which would be why you are able to drink 8 oz of it. Some people might be struggling for other reasons like nausea or pain, but if you're able to get 8 oz in, that's great!

Pants vs. dress right after surgery
I also wore pants just fine, as long as the band is elastic and not too tight.

Hospital Bag
Congratulations!!! I definitely over packed for my surgery. I only ended up needing my phone charger and deodorant because the hospital gave me a warm rag to wash my face with and a toothbrush and toothpaste. A lot of people take the moisturizing mouth spray. I took it and never used it, so I really only needed 2 things.

Exercising
I was cleared for all regular exercise at 6 weeks, but every surgeon is different. I would recommend contacting your team and seeing what their guidelines are.

Inspirational Quotes/Memes/Images
My dietician told me, "you are more than a number."

Eat?
I was also super hungry post op and wanted to eat everything. Now that I'm back on regular food, I don't have that feeling and am content with my relationship with food.

NSV of sorts
I had a similar experience today! Our administration is doing a week of treats for teacher appreciation... today I went into the work room to check my mailbox and there were cupcakes, Swedish fish, and some really cute beach themed decorations. I looked at all the cute decorations for a minute, checked my mailbox, and went back to my room without even thinking twice about a cupcake.

Feeling discouraged!
Updating your stats would help some of us. If you are taller and/or weren't extremely overweight to begin with, then you won't lose super quickly. People who lose a lot are close to the 500-600 lb range to begin with. I started around 235 and 2 lbs a week for me is really good. Don't be discouraged. I know there are some veterans on this forum who lost slow and steadily for a long time and met/exceeded their goals. You'll get there ?

CO2
Where exactly is your pain? I didn't have CO2 pain with my sleeve surgery, but I did with my gallbladder removal and the CO2 pain felt like aching between my shoulder blades and sometimes in my upper chest.
-
Water intake
UPDATE: I purchased the revolution nutrition fruity protein powder and I HIGHLY recommend them if you’re struggling with the milky protein shakes. This powder tastes like candy and juice!
-
Pre op diets
I used the seasoning packets from ramen noodles to make broth because they’re so salty and just threw the noodles away.
-
Exercise
For sure check with your team before doing any strength training and strenuous cardio/high impact. 1 week out I was walking and that was it. I was cleared at 6 weeks and am back to running and weight lifting daily. Also keep in mind that some people fatigue really quickly and with little warning early on. So if you plan to go for a walk, start with a short walk around the block and see how you feel.

Surgery Tomorrow
Good luck. I hope everything goes well!

Bile Duct an Gallbladder Issues
I hear gallstones and issues with gallbladders are common after WLS. I had issues with my gallbladder before my WLS, though. I had one gallstone at the neck of my gallbladder, so I wasn't blocked or anything, but that one stone was making it hard for bile to pass through, causing a lot of pain.

Discomfort/pressure while eating?
Has your surgeon put you on an antacid or PPI like Pepcid or anything like that? I know a lot of surgeons do as a precaution to deal with stomach acid after the surgery.
