Let me start this off by saying this: I made a mistake, learned from my mistake, I won't do it again.... so please don't judge or lecture me.

OKAY, now. Last night I was exhausted and just wanted to go to bed, but I hadn't eaten supper yet. I heated up some leftover shrimp and veggies and I only heated up an appropriate amount for the stage I am at. I normally put my fork down for 2 minutes after every bite, but the food was going down fine and I was so stinking tired and I really slacked on putting my fork down like I should (huge mistake). About 10 minutes after I finished, I felt super sick and threw most of it up. I felt better after throwing it up. So, I won't be doing anything stupid like that again, but I am wondering: is this a common response for eating too quickly?

Thanks for reading!

Yup. Done it. Twice so far. After the first time I swore I’d never make that mistake again, but I did. And I probably will again in the future. Sometimes we just forget things we think we could never forget.

I'm laughing with you, not at you.🤪 I say that because I said the exact "I learned my lesson and will never do it again." And I've said it more times than I care to count.

I had RNY, not sleeve, but the same thing happens to me. It has happened more times than I care to count. I really struggle to slow down enough. At times, even when I think I have eaten slowly, it turns out it was not slow enough. I find it happens most frequently when I am distracted for some reason....tired, in a hurry, multi-tasking, talking or visiting with someone during a meal.

Eventually, I actually will learn my lesson once and for all 🤣

I have to eat much slower than I did before but not quite two minutes between bites. Sorry you experienced this. So far I have not vomited since surgery but I’m sure I will do Something my new tummy dislikes soon. It’s probably better that you are now like this. For the long term goal of keeping the weight off, I mean, Im sure it’s will be easier if your body gives you no choice but to slow it down.

I’ve had this happen before and also with a couple foods my stomach just won’t tolerate. It’s a miserable feeling but it definitely makes one think twice about doing it again! The biggest triggers for me are things that are too dry like plain canned chicken or even a tiny amount sushi rice that is cold.

I felt better immediately after vomiting, but I agree that this response could help me in the long run. I have done really well with eating slowly, and I was just too impatient last night so I had to pay the price. Also, I haven’t eaten anything that has disagreed with my stomach. The only thing that makes me nauseous are Protein Shakes.

yep - too fast or too much will often set it off.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
