April 2019 Surgeries!
Yeah it's frustrating as need to lose 8.6 lbs more at least to get my knee replacement. So we shall see.

Stall in the soft food stage
Well I have to worry a little as I have a total knee replacement surgery scheduled and it's on the condition I can get to 240. 248.6 right now so hope this comes off soon.

Stall in the soft food stage
I did that it didn't work.

Stall in the soft food stage
I stalled when I went in the pureed stage and now stalling again in the soft food stage. Is this normal? Still trying to eat between 300 to 400 calories. Maybe not eating enough?

Heartburn
I used to have that as well but I learned a trick. Put in a little bit of baking soda in food especially if acidic. It neutralizes the acid. No more for me.

REFLUX MEDICINE DANGERS
Well actually I put baking soda in acidic food like anything with tomatoes and no longer have an issue with acid reflux where in the past I have been hospitalized for it.

Robotic Sleeve Surgery
I read that with Robotics operative time is longer, and leaks and surgical site infections more common. That's with thousands of studies in databases side by side with the standard laparoscopic surgeries. Glad I didn't get it Good Luck!

HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?
I am a former 911/police/fire/EMS dispatcher. Now I am a radio supervisor for a border patrol. I took off 2 weeks. I could have probably gone back after a week but it was nice to have the time to figure out foods, and supplements.

Constipation
Prebiotics fiber greatly helps me along with the Miralax and smooth move rtea. I was so sick Wednesday that I couldn't work. At these stages we aren't getting enough fiber. But the prebiotic fiber seems to work better than other types of fiber for me.

Plateau
How l,ong does it last?
-
Plateau
My doc told me that in the 3 months after surgery it is common to plateau in the pureed stage. That's where I am now. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Protein shakes and bars forever?
Standard diet is 2 weeks pre OP on Liquid diet. Up to 2 weeks after operation full liquids. Then 3 weeks of pureed food, then 3 weeks of soft food. If you are 6 weeks out you should have gone through the full liquid diet and the pureed diet and be in the soft foods stage. Like a baby they slowly train our stomach as it heals.

April 2019 Surgeries!
Bring a pillow for when you leave. Your core muscles are going to be majorly sore for a week so it hurts to laugh, cough sneeze and go to the bathroom. So it helps to keep the pressure on your core with the pillow. When you get out take metamucil in the morning and smooth move tea at night. Otherwise you will have major constipation which is worse than the surgery. Whenever you cook anything acidic like tomatoes add baking soda. It will neutralize the acid. While in have them give you heated pads to go over your stomach. It helps.

1 month journey
Congrats to you as well bing. Now at 35 lbs.
-
Supplements and such
I just put baking soda in everything that is acidic. Especially anything with tomatoes. It neutralizes the acid and you don't really taste it. I cook it in with spaghetti sauce and etc.

Weight Loss
16 days after surgery and I have lost 17 lbs so far. They say at this stage of pureed mode you go into a plateau. I am hoping for miracle weight loss!!! Most lose between 30-40 lbs in the proceeding 3 months after surgery but I hope to exceed that!!!

1 month journey
Today marks 4 weeks into my journey. 2 weeks of pre-op diet and 2 weeks after the surgery. I have now lost 31 lbs in 29 days. I am starting on the Pureed stage today and I am quite excited getting to eat real food again. I don't even mind if it is pureed because it is still food and not all liquids. The weight loss is slowing down to half a pound a day so not sure where this is going over the next few months but every pound lost is a victory!

Anyone in the Tacoma WA area?
Less than a month ago I was 292. In 2 weeks on the pre OP diet I lost 16 lbs. So on April 3rd I weighed 276. This Wednesday will be a month after the pre OP and 2 weeks after the surgery. Today I weigh 263 so have lost another 13 lbs. Total 29 lbs. By Wednesday which will be a month on this journey I should weigh approximately 260 lbs. Basically a 32 lb loss in a month.

Anyone in the Tacoma WA area?
Another tip is to put a little baking soda in anything with tomatoes. It will neutralize the acid and you won't get acid reflux.

Anyone in the Tacoma WA area?
I am in Spokane. Just had my vsg on April 3rd. Losing a pound a day. Just FYI get metamucil and smooth move tea. It will help you tremendously as constipation and gas was the worst part.
