1st: O.M.G. I. WANT. A. CUSTOMIZED. SASH. (Totally unrelated bit of info: I have a birthday in the fall....) 2nd: I want to wear my customized sash while frolicking on that beach. 3rd: Holy crap @Sophie7713, you are looking FINE.
  6. I still have ALL of my big clothes. Not because I think I'll need them later, but because I have been too lazy to get rid of them. If I ever get around to it, I plan on sorting them into piles for selling/giving to people/donating. There is just sooooo much of them that every time I look at them I'm like, "Nah, not today". ?
  7. You sound/read that you still have it together despite this crappy news, which speaks volumes to the constructive way you will likely deal with anything that comes at you. I think the fact that you have a medical background is a benefit to you to stay level headed. Vent away, lady. ❤️ Whatever you need. P.S. Sending you good thoughts....

  9. at least 45 mins if left on the counter, or if in a pinch, 10 mins in a covered bowl of warm (not hot!) water. ...Mr. does it straight out of the fridge too, but he brings his pot to boil with the eggs already in them.... #soManyWaysToBoilAnEgg
  10. You know what I would find useful? If food/recipes were categorized by cal or macro count... (but that might just be me, lol)
  11. Ah, soft boiled eggs are a science in my house. Both me and Mr. swear by completely different methods. Here's mine: A room temp egg put in for 6 minutes in a pot of already boiling water, then immediately into a bowl of ice water for 2 minutes (add 15 seconds for each additional egg up to 4 eggs in total).
  12. Ah right, i didn't think you were categorizing it for your website. In that case, I'm changing my answer: If I had to pick one, I'd say BREAKFAST (even though I basically never eat breakfast...)
  13. Probably both. Slooooooow it down and see if that helps....
  14. I'd say salad + egg (chaffle == egg too, no?). LOL And its an any-time-of-day-meal! (or snack ) Edited to add: I don't know if you already do this, but if you add vinegear to the water, it keeps the whites together/firmer (learned this on the Food Network a couple years ago)
  15. I think I was conditioned into being a slow eater during weight loss phase. If I ate too fast, my chest and throat would hurt/burn and feel like it was going to explode. And I prefer NOT to feel like that way, so I learned quickly. I'm a 1yr, 4mnths out and I naturally eat (very) slowly now....I don't even have to think about it anymore. Its my new normal.

ooooh....another one to add to my faves for you. super flattering!!
  17. It's a date! I'm making a sweeping declaration (a la HIMYM) and promising this: Even if I am no longer an active member on BP at that time, I WILL log on here on (or around) Oct 24th, 2021 and report on my status (fatter or not) ❤️ P.S. To clarify, I'm not denying that there can be bounceback weight, only that there is bounceback weight because of a change in eating habits. If I continue with eating the way I did yesterday (2000+ cals with minimal exercise), I fully expect to report a significant weight gain on Oct 24th 2021. And I would have no excuses for the gain other than the choices I made. P.P.S. I hope you have not been offended with my personal views, and that all is cool. I'm Canadian: We hate confrontation and apologize for everything. Sorry!
  18. I did, immediately after surgery. I think it is pretty common...My doc gave me one of these incentive spirometers to address it. It basically encourages you to do deep breathing. Can you ask your doc for one? ....or do some deep breathing yourself? Either way, let your doc know.
  19. Yaaaasss!!! ...and no need to minimize your efforts by prefacing with "All I did...." Cutting cals and increasing exercise is an effort, and effort many find difficult to do, and YOU recognized the need to do it and YOU totally did it! WTG
  20. Once i get around to replenishing my mascarpone stock, I'll totally make it and take pics. Now whether or not I eat any of it is another story (will depend on my mood that day, ? )
  21. ...and who knows...maybe 1 year from now I will be 50 lbs heavier from all the whipped-cream-mascarpone filling I've been eating and be signing a different tune. ...but I really hope not, I don't want to have to buy new clothes...
  22. And this is it exactly, isn't it? The weight gain is because of the heavy eating. Not from being merely years out from WLS. If you don't do the heaving eating, you won't gain the weight (malabsorbtion or not)? But you are TOTALLY right about LOSING the weight (once you gain it back). It takes much longer now. When I was 235 losing 5 lbs took days. Now it takes weeks. And years from now it may take months. So you are right again in that the trick is to not gain the weight, which is very difficult for most. Let me also say that I am only a little over a year out (so i'm still pretty newbie-ish and what do I know, really?) AND I've had it pretty good in that my results were/are very straight-forwardly related to my efforts. I eat more, I gain weight, I eat less I lose it. I get that this is not the experience reported by many.
  23. I have zero real evidence and am just talking based on simplistic view of cause and effect (i.e., out of my ass), but I think the weight gain is because of habit changes? I'm not sure if there is anyone out there who gained those 15-20-30-40 lbs years out can say that this happened while staying vigilant with the habits employed to lose the weight in the first place? But if there is, I would love to hear from them. It would be interesting/educational to do a deep dive into that person's lifestyle choices AND health/physicality to see how they could gain weight without changes in habits, right?? I know this is a touchy subject for many, so I am hesitant to post this. I hope I don't offend.
  24. Just me, but I'm not sure that there is a finite amount time post op that people start gaining weight (2yrs, 3 yrs, etc), I think it is more a period of time AFTER one's weight stabilizes. Some people hit their weight goals (or just stop losing weight) earlier, some later. So I would assume that the folks in former group start weight gain sooner than the latter group...and not so much because of loosening of tummies (which is a factor, yes), but more because of the loosening of eating habits. With that said, I think that it would follow that if a person were to stay on course for perpetuity (and continually adjust* as needed), he/she would never gain unwanted weight. *Noting of course that some people would need to adjust more than others.
