  1. I hope someone can explain to me why people have trouble swallowing after surgery. Is it due to nausea, and you just feel like you're going to throw up? The surgery doesnt involve the esophagus or throat, so I just don't get it!! My RNY is in 5 days, so maybe I'll figure it out the hard way, but I hope I don't have problems swallowing!! Thanks in advance!
  2. Actually, obese individuals with fatty liver do have enlarged livers from fat within the liver. The diet is to make the liver smaller so the surgeon can work in there safely.
  3. Maybe you should tell your concerns to your team. I think once you are approved for surgery at a certain BMI it doesn't matter if you drop below. The liver needs to be nice and healthy. Not fatty for the surgeon's ease in doing the surgery. I would do the diet as long as your doctor told you to.
  4. Check with your program to see if you can do creamed soups on this diet. I can't. You don't want to mess up the liver shrinking!
  5. I just finished day one, so I am mo pro, but my program allows Stevia in the plain yogurt. I found it to be easier than I expected, but we'll see how tomorrow goes! We can do this!! Jow many calories are you taking in a day?
  6. I saw you posted this on another thread, but it said post op. I started my Pre op liquid diet today. Drinking broth, water, protein shake and sugar free popsicles!! Not as bad yet as I anticipated! Surgery in a week!!
  7. I was told the same as MIKE P. No carbonated beverages.
  8. Yes, he did give me instructions, but I was looking for insider tips from folks who had done it!! Thanks for your reply.
  9. Hi, DavidP, I'm so ready as well! Im on day one of the liver shrinking diet. I only have to do one week. I'm not yet nervous. More looking forward to a new life, but I'm sure I'll be nervous next Tuesday night! Best wishes!!
  10. Hi, there! My surgery is March 27th and I'm taking a month off, too. I figured I needed some time to adjust to eating purees before I went back, and I'm sure we'll be tired for the first few weeks.
  11. Thanks for all the advice!! Does it stain your towels if you don't rinse well?
  12. My surgeon requires me to shower the night before surgery, and again the morning of surgery with an antibacterial soap called Hibiclens. Did anyone else have to do that? Any tips, precautions, advice?
  13. Yeah, just over a week away for us!! I start my diet tomorrow, but eating lightly today. I'm not nervous yet, but I'm sure I will be bect week! We've got this!!
  14. Hi, Frustr8!! You bet I'm excited! Been waiting 10 months. I start my liver shrinking diet day after tomorrow, and the surgery is a week from Wednesday! I'm ready to start a new chapter of my life and get my health back on track. Thanks for thinking of me. I love your posts!!
  15. I was honest. I have Bipolar disorder and a history of eating disorders including anorexia and bulimia. I also didn't have a great childhood. My psych eval wasn't that bad, and although I was honest, the psychiatrist recommended me for bariatric surgery. I have supports in place, and am medically stable. Best wishes to you! It will be fine!
  16. I start mine on Wednesday and not looking forward to it!! If you all can do it, I can too!! Let's all encourage each other!
  17. You should start a new thread of you want some answers to your question. But basically, most sleeve to GB revisions are due to reflux issues. Sometimes other reasons, too.
  18. I think having headached is perfectly normal. As for your other question, no idea. My surgeon recommends using water for powered protein shakes during the pre op diet. Hood luck!!
  19. You look great! Congratulations!
  20. Thanks for sharing that. My RNY is March 27th, and I fou d your post very helpful! Not too gross!!
  21. You're very welcome! I joined this support group last May, and have found it to be a wealth of useful information, love, and support! Best to you! Sarah aka Briswife15
  22. Yeah, I'm with you! My surgery is on March 27th, and it is a big deal!! Ive also had a lot of surgeries in my life. Im sorry your last surgery was so complicated. Believe it or not, bariatric surgery is really, really safe these days, and surgons do a lot of them. Nonetheless it is natural to worry a little bit. I really think all will go great for you. You've got this!!
