  1. I had mine 3/27. Think I have developed ulcers somehow. Started Carafate and feel much better.
  2. Thanks, Gabybab. Mine is a liquid, so no worries there. Did you have ulcers?
  3. Thanks, Ed_NW. I Agree. Didn't want to wash it out of my stomach! I waited an hour to drink.
  4. Hi. My surgeon just prescribed Carafate and I'm wondering if I should wait one hour before drinking anything, or if that is just for eating? Thanks!!
  5. Talked to surgeon's office and they told me to go back to liquids only until they see me on Monday. Also prescribed Carafate. Hopefully something will help this terrible pressure and discomfort I'm feeling.
  6. I just went back to work on Monday after 4 weeks off for my gastric bypass. My advice is to stick with lunch foods you are familiar with and don't try something new at work. You may be tired at the end of your shift. I got dizzy and lightheaded towards the end of the day. Good luck!
  7. You have lost nothing?? Or do you feel like you are stalled?
  8. I think if one has unresolved eating disorders they should be addressed prior to surgery. I was anorexic and purged, but never binged. But that was 20 years ago. I did mention it to my surgeon and their therapist, but they didn't seem concerned at this point. Your binge eating seems to be recent. It is sad to delay the surgery, but you'll be glad to get things under control.
  9. Im 4 weeks out, and should be able to tolerate more, I think.
  10. I've been on purees for 2 weeks, and can only tolerate ricotta and Greek yogurt. If I try egg, hummus, or cottage cheese I feel tremendous pressure in my pouch like I ate an entire pizza!! I'm trying to eat 1-2 ounces and eat slowly, so I don't think it is the volume or speed. Tomorrow I'm supposed to progress to soft food, but I'm really thinking I'm not ready, and that I should step back to just shakes for a few days to a week. Opinions? Anyone else have trouble progressing??
  11. I get the lab slip at my 4 month appointment so that the results are available at my 6 month appointment. Nurse says they expect patients to be nutritionally deficient for the first 6 months
  12. I was in the hospital 3 days and 2 nights for my bypass. The most important thing I brought was my cell phone charger!! Wish I had brought a toothbrush and toothpaste. You don't need much. Don't over pack. I wore stretchy sweatpants and a loose top with no bra to the hospital and wore the same thing home. I couldn't wear a bra for about a week because I had an incision in the front where my bra would rub.
  13. What kind of protein shake are you drinking? Did you have the sleeve or bypass? You could have developed lactose intolerance. Try whey protein isolates not concentrates. Easier on the pouch. Good luck. I find I get pressure in my chest (pouch) if I drink too fast.
  14. Are you sure it is true hunger and not an acidy feeling in your pouch? Are you on any meds for heartburn? If it is true hunger it will get better as you move through the food stages. Sorry you're feeling this way.
  15. Hi, and welcome!! The wait is long, but worth it! From my initial educational seminar to surgery date was 10 months.
  16. Great! Thank you. I've got a few more weeks to go before I'm there, but will try to increase calories now.
  17. No, I generally eat 420-520 a day, and was suggested to eat 600-800. That seems high for 4 weeks post Gb. Just asking!
  18. Following. Has anyone tried guacamole this early?
  19. Hi, GradyCat, and others. You mentioned in reply to another post that I should be consuming 600-800 calories a day. My nut didn't give me a guideline, but I am 4 weeks out this Wednesday. Still on shakes and puree. Does that calorie recommendation still hold? Thanks
  20. My grocery store sells Crystal Light with both caffeine and non caffeine. Both the liquid and powdered forms, just have to read the labels carefully. Try Amazon, maybe?
  21. Normal. I gained almost 10 pounds of fluid while in the hospital!! It took me about 6 days to lose it and get back to my surgery weight. Hang in there!! Congrats on your surgery!
