  1. My twins are 6'3", so I've done a fair amount of plus-size shopping for men. Their clothing is more expensive, pretty much all the time. And XLT is a hard size to find. I don't mind the up-charge if it's a couple of dollars. I know it takes more fabric.
  2. I had serious misgivings about this as well. My mom passed away last year and for about her last 12-18 months, it was a struggle to keep her at about 105 lbs. She had been about 5'6", 135 lbs. for most of her life. I had forgotten that this was one of the things that steered me toward a sleeve - to preserve as much of my digestive system as possible and still lose enough weight to make me healthier.
  3. I'd say it was about the same as a hysterectomy. I was sore, but not incapacitated. Sounds like you'll be fine.
  4. I get it. I think it's our metabolism kicking up to digest food.
  5. When this happens, try a Tums. Sometimes our acid jets turn on full speed into our tiny little stomachs. For me it can start just as soon as the food hits the stomach. Are you on a PPI? I am and still need the Tums sometimes.
  6. I think we've seen enough posts to know the answer to that one.
  7. In general, we don't know what other people's needs are. We certainly don't know if they were up-front with their surgeon. And we've seen how many people on this site are in complete denial of their own situations. I think it's perfectly normal to want to do the least invasive option available that will suit your needs, but that requires the patient being brutally honest with him/herself and with the doctor.
  8. I'd be happy to be on your prayer list and you're welcome to join mine! You really don't need to take the prayers off site. I had no objections to this post.
  9. The problem is, nobody posts saying "No problems here". If it's worth posting about, it's probably something they're struggling with. So, the problems look more numerous than they are. Also, FYI, this is a bigger problem with bypass than sleeve, due to malabsorption issues.
  10. Absolutely. However, I haven't gone on any interviews since surgery so I can't compare. I'm curious to see what others say. I do know that I would feel a lot more confident if I looked better and wasn't sweating!
  11. Congrats on your awesome success! Love the little black dress, you rock it! I'd kill for your ankles! Thanks for sharing your inspirational photos! How do you feel physically?
  12. I take Flintstones Complete chewables, Citracal, magnesium, biotin and B12 as directed by dr. All my labwork has been excellent.
  13. And that's tough when you're close to goal. Congrats!
  14. Thanks for the post. He's really interesting.
  15. The only innocents are the sweet, little gherkins. The rest are monsters!
  16. Those mean, evil picles picking on a poor, pregnant girl! Serves them right!
  17. I accidentally made 5 (I know ) duplicate posts on this thread. Is it possible to have them deleted? They are marked as dups. Sorry.
  18. I love 'em! Just put 3 portions of fish tacos (just the insides) in the freezer, and one in the fridge for tonight. I don't know how they'll freeze, but, we'll see . . . (The fish wasn't filet-style, it was all mashed with the veggies, so very soft) And, of course, with my 3 grown sons at home, if I can't eat it, they will!
  19. Not me. Still like them all. I still love spicy, but it burns all the way down due to reflux. So, I've had to transition to milder foods.
  20. I totally get what you're saying. I think you did really well. You've found out that if you skip the beer, you and hubby can still enjoy your Road House date nights and you can stay on your eating plan. It was a good learning experience.
  21. My experience was almost identical to @ChaosUnlimited's except for the nurse phone calls. I thought our therapist and nutritionist were excellent and well-versed with bariatric issues. So, like Chaos, I thought I was well-prepared for what came after surgery. Yes, I wanted surgery sooner, but I think I benefitted from the delay.
  22. You're playing with fire. Do what your doctor/NUT tell you to do.
  23. Congrats on your surgery! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
