  1. I wouldn't buy for 4 weeks out, just 1 week. By then you'll feel fine to go to the store and you'll know what flavors work for you and what doesn't.
  2. You'll have to give an example of what foods you're eating, please. And in what amounts?
  3. Yes, this ^^^^!
  4. If you already have issues with gallstones & diet, it is altogether possible that the surgeon will remove your gallbladder at the same time. It's not uncommon. Yes, surgery is scary, but the rate of complications is very low and the upside is amazing. Ask your doctor for brutal honesty: How long can you expect to live, and with what health issues, as a 69-yr old who's 130 pounds overweight? Then you're comparing apples-to-apples. a PPI is a proton pump inhibitor (like Prilosec)
  5. This occasionally comes up in other threads and I thought it deserved a thread of its own. After a vacation or just a period of "less-than-mindful eating", how do you get back on track and get your cravings back under control? Curious minds want to know!
  6. They were unkind to you. They could have given you another gown to wear like a robe and you would have been golden.
  7. Perfect, because this is where you'll meet the person who fits into your lifestyle! You're right to be picky. Being with the wrong person is much worse than being alone. Good luck!
  8. Compared to your stomach, it WAS really big!
  9. You have forgotten to relax and trust your team! Don't pack a ton of stuff. In between walks, try to sleep. You're going to be loopy as all get-out anyway. Don't buy anything new like a phone charger for one night. You're overthinking - big time. Buying more stuff might make you feel like you're getting prepared, but it's not necessary. No regular socks, they won't let you wear them. Bring a hairbrush, toothbrush. Don't bother with makeup. I wore the hospital gown for my entire stay. I didn't want to bleed all over my clothing. You might bring a shawl for your shoulders. Any type of garment with sleeves is a pain because you'll have an IV. If you use hypo-allergenic wipes, I'd bring those. Just take a deep breath, you're going to be fine. We're all in your corner!
  10. How long ago was your surgery?
  11. Wow, what a difference! Your face has really slimmed down!
  12. Congrats on nearly 100 lbs. lost already! You are a bada$$, with the hairstyle to match. Just make sure you wear killer earrings!
  13. By the time you're 4-5 months out, 8-10 pounds/month is pretty normal. It's certainly not bad. Remember, your weight loss period is 12-18 months generally.
  14. @virginiaRN How did this all turn out? Have you heard back?
  15. I know the feeling! Awesome, huh?
  16. Sorry I didn't see your post last night! I love this site, too! All her nutritional info is listed at the bottom of the recipe. Hope you have a fun party!
  17. You can take a look at these options, all pretty healthy: https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/curated.asp?curated=32&t=Fire+Up+the+Grill I love this site!
  18. I'm not to that point yet with my surgery, but it sounds like you continue to eat out of pleasure or habit. (Habit is bad, pleasure is human ). There are a few tricks to help beat the habit. Most of these are from my old WW days. If you're at a restaurant, ask for a to-go box at the start and put your "leftovers" in it before you start eating. Out-of-sight, out-of-mind. Do not go back into the box at the restaurant. If you're out with others and don't want to go the "box" route, once you've eaten enough, surreptitiously over-salt what's left on your plate so that it's inedible. That will stop you from picking at the food while the conversation goes on or while others continue to eat. If you're eating at home: Do NOT put serving bowls on the table. Serve from the stove, use a small plate and don't go back. After you eat your plateful, go brush your teeth. Food tastes terrible after you brush your teeth. Find some sort of ritual to formally "end" your meal. It can be a small dessert, a cigarette (if you smoke), etc. It has to be something you look forward to. I'm sure others will have more suggestions (which I will be following), but I hope this helps! And congrats on your success so far!
  19. Wow, huge difference! You've lost your double chin entirely! And your cheekbones are becoming more pronounced!
  20. Wow, I'd never recognize you! Congrats on an amazing transformation!
  21. Best wishes for a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!
