Psychological roller coaster
Well you do have us, you can vent to us, because even if you feel in your ❤you are the only one to feel this way, we all at sometime had our own " swampy" moments, where all you can see is Dismal Swamp all around you. We did get better and I am sure you will too. Its a little like producing a baby. They hand you this small human, well the hospital SAID it was human, floppy, small as a loaf of bread, a loud noise at one end , no sense of responsibility at the other, and they tell you just to feed it well and raise it to maturity, but seldom do they give you an Owners Manual. And you return home, a little sore in the belly, a little light-headed, a little WTF did I have done to ME? But it gets better, you heal, you come to terms with what these new innards can do, and gradually you will reach your New Norm. Th8s is a Promise!

Leg cramps
How is your Magnesium levels? Almost every time I have had bad ones, and I have skinned my toes , dragging myself across the floor, to try to pull myself up on a strong chair with my arm muscles. Bad scene, of course nobody else woke up or offered to drive me to the ER. Is this the type of thing you bother the Rescue Sqaud with? You do hate to be labled as " little old lady, fallen and can't get up". Most of mine were pre-surgery , at that time 500 mg Magnesium Oxide, painkiller- usually 4 aspirin unless I could locate my tramadol, wrap up in a blanket, once my legs got warmer, and the meds kicked in, I cried like an inconsolable infant. Don't know what I am doing right, but surgery 4 months ago today and it hasn't flared up again. Could also be potassium levels off, if so, eat a ? as a quick fix. Sometimes Flexaril helped, but not always. Bottom line, your electrolytes may be slightly wacky with the pre- diet, try propel or gatorade, probably the zero form. I know I am throwing a lot of things out, but maybe something will work for you.

If you had to have an "excuse surgery" ....
Well I have a puckish sense of humor. For me if they pressured me, my answer would be "labial reduction "surgery or if I were male " a hair transplant on my scrotum", stun them, shut them up , turn on your heel and leave their mouths gaping open . They don't pay your bills for you, why should they be allowed to live your life for you? None yer Bees-wax, Nosy Parker!

Unbearable pain on the right side under my ribs
That is exactly where I feel my jejunal ulcerations pain. I haven't had an gallbladder since February 1984,when I had this pain flare up, I was scared. I had spent the entire month of August on a liver-shrink diet, andcall I could think of was " I've damaged my liver" and since I am 1 part worrier and 1 part overactive imagination, my mind marched right into " I had bariatric surgery and I'm gonna die anyway? WTF happened to me?" But Dr Noria, my surgeon Dr Needleman's partner and the person who has done all my endoscopies there, said the right subcostal pain, that one that made me want to dig my fingers under my ribs and rip something out? Purely the ulcers in my jejunem romping and stomping, "keep the Carafate going on every six hours, and if we keep you on TPN so your beleagured GI system can rest but give you adequate protein for healing, it's my professional plan that you'll be better soon" Hasn't happened yet, want it to--! but it seems to be taking forever! Then I remember there has only been 4 months since SURGERY and maybe I had better grow some "patience" flowers in my garden of Health. I have the rest of my life to enjoy my RnY, so this a " bump" in my journey, after all!

Can strictures be prevented?
Mine is that my pouch opening has shrunk down to a very small state and nothing but liquids can get through. How to prevent them ? Doubt if there is a definitive answer, in theory if you take your omeprazole and other PPI you won't develop what I have the stricture and multiple ulcers. I tried to explain, for me, omeprazole is not gastroprotective, I was on that therapy when my gastroenterologist Dr Mujtaba found gastritis and Hector, my original little ulcer, in December 2017. He changed me to Dexilent, which was working well, until they took it away and gave me the stinkin' omeprazole. I told them 2 weeks post surgery there was something wrong and I was correct. My pouch does spasm, feels like she is clenched into an angry little fist, and I still do vomit occasionally. I was trying either a shake or soup once a day, but it is not worth the ❤ ache it causes and I have decided to let PP and her ulcer friends, lay calm in there because the TPN has been formulated to supply my needs nutritionally. Do I miss food? Well yes and no, I sort of do some but it isn't worth the grief food causes.

Life without NSAIDS?
I have them and , baby it isn't a giggle factory. I have right subcostal pain, same area you would feel gall bladder colic pain, but mine is pure ulcerations. Some times I hurt so bad I want to curl my fingers under my ribs and rip them out. I am hoping I hear good news on the 25th from Dr Noria, if not--' I'm in it to win it, we just do it a while longer with the PICC line and the TPN.

Life without NSAIDS?
Is your brother doing okay now? Its wonderful you could do THAT for him, and I wish there had been someone for the Late Lamented, but I never knew until after his death that he had not escaped the hereditary kidney problems of his family. And then it was a little "too late to do the right thing now". Once you are DEAD you're not granted a "do-over"
