OCD Planning
Almost all the supplement places have it, like GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Amazon, Walmart, local grocery stores should carry one or two brands as well. I like Protein2O

Why is water painful?
Plain water still bothers me to this day, 8 months post op. Try adding something to it, like caffeine free tea, crystal lite, a little lemon (if allowed by your plan). All these things could help the water go down better.

OCD Planning
I was extreme about planning. I went to the soup isle at the grocery store and spent hours looking for options during my purred stage. Which is funny because I ended up making homemade soup instead. I bought protein shakes, protein water, SF jello, multiple broth types, about 10 different SF drink options.... and used about 5% of what I bought. I don't regret getting prepared though, because it helped me get into a really great mindset. Do what makes you feel best!

What they won’t tell you after gbp
I took shots, for 10 day post op, but not in my legs. My shots were strictly in my stomach.

Gastric Bypass-No Weight Lost
Please don't stress about this. I stalled out after I got home from the hospital as well. In fact, I didn't lose much at all my first month and now I'm 7 months post op, down 132lbs. Your body essentially goes into starvation mode after your pre op diet and your first few weeks. I didn't find the loss picked up until I was back to eating a "normal" bariatric diet. This too shall pass, and this is NOT indicative of how your long term success will be.

Scar Removal
Bio Oil was recommended to me for skin firming, and it also has scar removing components to it. I highly recommend it. It has 100% changed my skin in a positive way. And its cheap as well, its not like the other products on the market that cost a lot to try.

How many have lost more than the average?
Yes, there is def a chance. I was/am in the same boat. With RNY, even at 80% excess weight loss, I'd still be overweight. I've lost approx. 70% at this point. I still have about 50 more pounds to go to be within a "healthy" BMI. I don't know if I'll make it there or not... I'd love to say yes, but I'm just not sure what I'll look like at 150lb, or if I'll be OK stopping sooner. Right now, I'm a size 12 and a Large shirt. I honestly feel like, if I lost a little more and got a tummy tuck, I'd be golden.

Alcohol?
Same for me! I got a little buzzed off a beer last weekend, but it lasted all but 30 mins and I was back to normal. So, if you are someone that chases the buzz, drinking might be a very high calorie experience.

Sushi
I have eaten sushi a few times. I always get a ginger salad, and I'm able to eat 2 pieces of sushi with it. I eat it with full rice, never really thought to have them reduce the rice content. Rice doesn't bother me at all, although I try not to eat a ton of it. I tried it for the first time about 5 months post op.

Feeling Guilty: Who's life do I save? Mine or my daughters?
@Last Resort ^^^^ this. If she is on a family medical plan. Many have out of pocket maximums for families for the calendar year. Its possible that you guys might meet that with your surgery alone. Def. explore this. @Last Resort What Matt Z said is very right. You are at a higher risk for health concerns than your daughter due to age. This isn't a once in a lifetime opportunity, she may get a job in the next couple years that will pay for the surgery or make it more affordable.

Fat Tax on Plus-Size Clothing (but almost exclusively on women's clothing, not men's)
I’ve ordered online too, but I’ve had to return about 80% of what I ordered. Bras sizes are not universal amongst stores. In fact, Lane Bryant fitted me recently as a DDD, which is crazy considering I’m a C cup at Walmart. And my boobs are substantially smaller since I’ve lost all this weight. I was a DDD at 332lbs.

When was your first plateau?
I highly doubt you gained 4lbs. In fact, I know you didn't. Remember, it takes 3500 calories to gain 1 lb. You can't possibly be eating enough to gain any weight at this stage. There are many things that contribute to the scale fluctuating higher throughout post op. 1. Constipation, or just poop in general 2. Liquid retention 3. For women, periods 4. Swelling from the healing process 5. Time of day that you are weighing yourself.

How Long Post-op Until You Were Able to Eat Carbs & Fried Foods Again?
I haven't dabbled too much in fried foods, besides French fries. I try to avoid things that are breaded and fried because the grease seems to upset my stomach. Now, if I make French fries in the oven at home, I don't have a problem. Obviously, I don't do this often, but from time to time, it satisfies the urge. I've also found some good alternatives to my previous favorites . For example, I buy a brand of soy meat that has two "fried-like" foods that I enjoy.

Measuring your food
I was eating approx. 1-2 ounces at that stage.
