What's your best post op advice?
Never ever compare yourself (or journey) to others Don’t forget the people that value you at any weight Being happy in other areas of your life is just as important as weight loss

Surprising Bariatric Surgery Discoveries?
Insurance: If weightloss surgery is excluded from your plan, save yourself the headache and just change to a plan that that includes the weightloss surgery that you want. Also some of the research/follow up maybe be on the patient. The paperwork, approvals, scheduling etc are all performed my people and sometimes mistakes can happen. My surgery coordinator forgot to fax one page of necessary information and insurance couldn’t move forward with approval until they had it. The coordinator didn’t even know there was a page missing (could have stuck to another page) The only reason I knew and was able to have it fixed was because I checked in on my approval with my insurance company myself.

Restaurants
Restaurants are usually more than willing to accommodate substitutions and understand that people have complex diets. I have seen vegetarian, diabetic/keto friendly, gluten free, etc menu categories. I have also looked up menus prior to going places. When ordering I either ask for everything on the side or without everything I don’t want. My BF says that I do *appear* high maintenance at restaurants. But I have always been that way because I am kosher, sometimes I was a strict vegetarian/vegan and have a shellfish allergy too so cross contamination is dangerous for me. WLS was just one more layer. If all else fails I order salad or ice water, tea or dessert ?

What should I aim for in terms of healthy goal weight?
Purely opinion but I think a good place is somewhere between what your team approves and what make you happy/stress free long term Good Luck ❤️

Eating on a Cross-Country Road Trip
I definitely had to bring non perishable foods and shakes to fill in the gaps instead of stopping at every gas station during road trips. But there will be times you want to sit and eat. I often picked my meals entirely from side items, lighter/smart choice sections and in a pinch kids meals.

Oh, Just Another Plastics Story pt 2
Plastics update! It’s been so long I forgot about these threads Mood: Happy Current weight:154 (no measurements as I can’t find my tape measure) I’m still very happy with my outcomes but obviously I see little things I want fixed. I would love more fat grafting to my behind and some scar revisions as most of my scars became hypertrophic (I knew the risk and it was still worth it - I just need to have them revised at some point) I think that happens to many people post plastics. Plastics is probably just the next rabbit hole. videos of this years swim suit and showing scars (WLS and plastics) FullSizeRender.mov FullSizeRender.mov

Hey! Revision(ist), I want to hear from you! Tell me your experience: revision in June. Nervous
GERD is completely resolved. I have maintained my weightloss but I can lose unintentionally if I eat “clean”. I never lost hair with any surgery (but I took L-Lysine, do a bit of research if you’re curious) It wasn’t painful. It was done laparoscopically and I had a pain management plan ahead of time. Good Luck ❤️

Hey! Revision(ist), I want to hear from you! Tell me your experience: revision in June. Nervous
Sleeved Nov 2017 then Revised July 2019 (for GERD, hernia, sleeve torsion etc) Almost immediately after no more issues with GERD. I developed a stricture early out but it was dilated and resolved. I initially lost more weight (around 15lbs) but it wasn’t where I or my surgeon wanted me to be so I gained it back. My weight may fluctuate a few lbs on either side of my goal but that is usually due to events I wasn’t hungry immediately after surgery but that’s normal for me, hunger returned and it was no big deal as I had already had a return on hunger a year before with VSG. Some people (myself included) have a experienced a change in restriction from VSG to RNY (less, more or different restriction) I actually had an easier recovery with the revision. It was a short learning curve with new bathroom habits. Overall very satisfied.
