shawnak911 reacted to neanea415 in Hi everyone!
My name is Jen and I'm 4 months post operative today. I started at 255lbs, and I'm 5"5. I was wearing a 18/20. I lost 10lbs preoperative diet, and 37lbs lost since surgery( 208.8lbs) I'm in between a size 14/16 now. I would say that I am a slow looser but that's okay.
After getting denied by insurance plan because I had a eating disorder (bulimia) for 15 years, even though I have  been in recovery for 8 years, I went through A Lighter Me in Mexico to get my surgery. I don't regret my decision at all, and I have been very pleased with my results.
My struggles now are getting my daily Protein amounts, chugging enough Water, Hair loss and fatigue.
We are in this together so I hope that we can continue to support and inspire each other in this journey!

I have so many already now i can't choose lol. I think the fact that my boyfriend was holding me in bed tonight and said i felt "different". I asked what he meant and he said i am much smaller now so it felt like he was cradling me in a way. He just couldn't get over it and hadn't noticed how different i felt in his arms until that moment. He was like "i guess I'll have to lose weight now." His self esteem might have taken a little hit but man i felt so tiny. The night ended well lol.

I just had a non scale victory! I found a t-shirt from high school and tried it on and fit better now than back then! I want to hear some non scale victories from everyone? Sometimes we need to stop focusing on the scale!

Call your surgeon's office and get a referral for a psychologist. The first few months is prime regret time and it sounds like you need some support and help to navigate through the emotions this is bringing up. I wish you all the best!

The surgery takes away your stomach hunger but not your head hunger which is what you are dealing with right now. It is normal but also a beast! Eventually, you will look back at this and laugh and wonder why it was such a big deal. But in the moment, it does feel like a big deal. I remember dreaming of biting into a chocolate frosted doughnut! I didn't have one and eventually, when I was able to start eating real food, that went away. Just hang in there and follow the plan--it is tough but you won;t regret it!! Best of luck

I had a TT (plus other suff) 5 weeks ago. I had quite a bit of excess skin but with spanx/clothes on it was hard to tell. I still wanted it and even though I am still swollen, I am really happy with the results.

I bought the 4oz Glad containers, I think you get 8 in a pack and that is my new dinnerware. I weigh my food and put it in the containers and dinner is ready!

    Congrats on the ongoing success!

Maintenance is very hard until you find the right balance for you. Glad you are getting a hold of the extra 15 before it becomes more.

Instead of things like slim fast shakes and cabbage Soup, why not go back to what worked in the beginning? LOW carbs, high Protein and non-starchy veggies. NO Pasta, flour, sugar, potatoes, rice, etc... I have recently discovered, that, for me, a bit of fat in my diet helps with satiety, maintenance, weight loss and consuming fewer calories in the long run. I also continue to leave a 1/2 hour before/after eating of no liquids, I use tiny plates/utensils, eat slow & stop at the 1st sign of full.

I too had gained some from falling back into old habits, I am now getting back on track and feeling better!

It's only 15 pounds. I gained 6 pounds 7 months later. Find your information package from before when you had the surgery and read it all over again. It reminds us of what small thins we shouldn't be doing which we forget over time. I knew what i had done wrong and how to get back on track. You can do it too.
Just refresh your mind with that information and treat your body as if it were going through the entire procedure again. I am sure you will lose the weight.

Hello everyone! I am scheduled for the sleeve on Feb 21st. I'm also in my pre-op diet right now. It's not easy but I know I have to do it. I'll be 60 in May and am so ready to have a great birthday with less of me[emoji5] I weighed 284 last week at my doctors pre-op appt but I have been as high as 292. and I'm 5'5". I'm very excited, nervous, hopeful, anxious and scared[emoji51]. I'm so tired of losing the same 45ish lbs over and over with every known diet to only gain it back and then some. It seems like I'd lose that 45 and start back to old habits so I've never lost more than that on any diet
I wish & pray for everyone the best on their journey. [emoji1317] I look forward to reading everyone's experiences.

Don't give in to the cravings. It takes a long time, but you will get over it. At 2+ years post op, I rarely even think about bread or Pasta anymore. You are better off without it.

Hi, feel your pain. Im dying for some penne ala vodka :-(.
Every doc follows a diff nutrition plan. I was allowed toast at phase 3 which i was moved to on my follow up at week 3 post op. I got sleeved, hernia repair and gall bladder removed. S/w ur doc n nut about getting a clear breakdown so u dont mess up your progress n healing process. FYI, i cheated n had a few french fries that made me wish some1 would shoot me n put me out of my misery. Learned quick fast to not jump the gun n follow my damn plan. Lord it was horrible. Good luck.

I will be praying for you and all of us. I'm sorry to hear you are going through this! The good news is that you are going through this and coming out soon and better than before[emoji4] because you know what to do. I thank you for this post having had my bypass on 12/1 it reminds me to not comfortable no matter what. I have done good with my Vitamins because I have alerts set on my phone every 2 hours so I don't forget. I highly recommend you do this because we must get our vitamins since we can't eat the foods that provide them like we use to do. I try to get Protein Shakes in to ensure I get my daily serving of Protein or add the medical protein to Soups and such. Liquids I'm still a little short on but I try to fill my 32oz bottle twice to get in my 64oz but again I'm improving but not there just YET[emoji6] We can do this people!!![emoji1433]

It's very normal. Are you getting Protein in as well with fluids? It's the acid in your stomach but once you get to purée stage it's lots better. Just keep sipping this will pass before you know it. Congrats on your new journey. I'm 5 weeks out down 25 lbs and feeling great!

Are they the chewy bites vs chewables? In the chewy bites I have tried the dark cherry, strawberry watermelon, and Carmel are great! The coconut was decent but not as good as the above. I was told you can't take 2 at the same time because your body only has capacity to absorb one at a time which is why they say take one every 2 hours.

One of my friends who had surgery at the same hospital as I am going to said the long pre op is for people who they believe needs to shrink their liver and to lose weight. All you really have to do is the 24 hr liquid before if you just have to empty your stomach before surgery
