Information on Thyroid
Do any of you with thyroid problems have severe headachs? My sis is on week three with a migrain and will get a spinal tap on monday. One Dr. t hinks she has a thyroid problem even though her level of thyroid is in a normal range. They cannot figure the cause of the headachs. She is suffering so much. I will print this thread and get it to her. She is an RN and is so sweet, I hate to see her suffer so. Thx for your input.

EASTER DINNER--what's your plan?
Ill fix some ham too, and the obligatory green bean casarole. The funny thing for me is that most of us eat pork on easter, I find that kind of odd, considering the fact that Christ Jesus was Jewish, and pork was and still is considered unclean. I hope my post doesnt offend anyone, Its just my personal thought on the subject.

I need honest feedback please but be nice..
Just today I was talking to a friend long distance that may want the band, and she was talking about all the misunderstandings that people are telling her about. Her sadness about others not really understanding were all to familiar to me. This poem is such a recap of our conversation, its like you were a fly on the wall in our rooms. I think a lot of peoplew will see themselves in these words you skillfully put here for us.:clap2: :clap2:

Fat Rant
I like the part where she wont let fat be the reason to not work on other issues that she might have. I have used the fat excuse in the past, it was easier that facing the real trouble. But once I was able to face those other issues, and suceed, that gave me the confidence to work on getting un-fat. Just for my health sake. BTW, I think she is drop dead beautiful!!

Tell Me
My dad used to cut arguments between my sisters and I and he would say, "I know you believe that you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure that what you heard isnt what I meant." He would also say to us, "I may not always be right, but Im never wrong." The funny thing is, now I understand what he meant. As children, we were to obey him, even if we knew he was wrong, because we were supposed to respect and honor him (his position as father) even if we did not want to. The other saying, however still confuses me. My mom would say "Listen to the eggs, telling the chicken how to hatch!"

Tell Me
I just love these!! I had a friend from Ohio that called his couch a davenport, and I could not understand what he meant, so I said, what is a davneport? He looked at my like I was crazy and asked, are you so poor you dont have a davenport? I went home crying and I couldnt even explain it to my mom. She said you poor thing, whats wrong with you? and I cried even harder because I thought she said that we really are poor!! My hubby from Wisconsin said "for corn sakes" and he could cuss by saying "rubber ducks and baby chicks" Dont let the door hit you where the good Lord split ya. O I love it! Jack, what does pin your ears back mean?

plz pray this isnt a good way to lose weight!
I hope you can "forgive" yourself, I think part of your torment could come from this. There is no reason you should continue to be tormented by the vision of watching that accident. Yes, you have Im sure said you were sorry over and over. You have great love for your children, and there was nothing you could have done to forsee even for a nano-second what could have happened. You have even warned us to be careful. I appreciate that because that was such a freaky thing to have happen. Ive been trying to find in my bible where it says that unforgivness opens the door to the tormentor, but Ill have to edit my post later,as it is late, but it is true, you can forgive yourself (not that you caused the accident) but It seems like I hear guilt in your post. Ask God to bless your mind and memories, and He will do it because guilt, shame and condemnation come from evil, and all good and perfect gifts come from our father above. Please dont get side tracked by this trauma, your health is important to your family. Blessings to you.

having a crapy day
This is hard, having a sis that could care less. That really stinks. I think getting a job away from her could be a blessing in disguise. You are gonna take charge of your life, get your band, bloom like a dozen roses, and then who is going to look stupid? Not you! But someone who stabs their own sister in the back, now that is stupid. When she is old and gray, who is going to be there for her? HMMM

Should parents be able to smack children in discipline
Time out? Sure said one of my sons, I just love being locked up with all my toys and books. Thats when commando parenting kicked in. This guy had spankings as a toddler and was pretty well behaved. As a first grader he was openly challenging my authority. That summer his room had only his clothing in there. He is 30 now and he calls it the summer from hell. When his two younger brothers dared to challenge me out loud, he was quick to remind them that they really did not want to do that. He is a happy and well adjusted man and calls me regularly to just chat. Spanking has its time and effectiveness. When the kids are older you have to find the economy that they will respond to. Now days its this, If I ask them to do something, and it isnt done in a reasonable time, I go unplug the hub. All I have to do now is start fumbling the electirc cords and they hustle. They think I only know enough to be dangerous. Like if loosing thier place in the games they play is a real trajedy. I would be furious if my freedom to discipline as I saw fit was dictated. Talk about anarchy arising.

Stranded and P.O'd.
Im glad you are ok, now, and if that was the pastor, he will get his and more some. I know however that a lot of people have keys to churches, just about all lay leaders and maintence people, and of course the music folks that practice at off times. However, anyone who sees a stranded person in a church parking lot should definately help. That was not only rude but he put you in the path of real danger. I wonder how he would feel if something really bad had happened to you. I would suggest that a call to the church office might just help the next person in your shoes. What a sad, sad, man that is to do that to you. I wish to say Im sorry for his behavior, as a Christian it puts a damper on all of us.

Feeling Down
Julie, I feel for you and your son. Has his change in behavior been recent and sudden? I hope he is not involved with anything like drugs, or drinking. Do you like the friends he has? Does he spend much time away from home? I would really support you on your counseling plans, I always tell my sons that I dont need permission to be thier mom, I am not supposed to be thier best friend, but I am supposed to take my responsibility to care for them and do what I think is necessary even if I am not the most popular one in the house. As far as the friend that decided to flake off, well she couldnt have been a really good friend. Is she jealous of your new self? She is the one that is loosing out, you are doing great to care for yourself. I wish I could take you out for coffee, or tea... Take care girl, and love that boy. Another thing I tell my sons is that there is never anything that they could do to make me love them less, and I am their greatest champion, and always will be. I also tell them that I dont need thier permission to love them too.

Having a Bad Time
Recognizing that you could be in real depression is important. When I was in true depression, even my favorite activities seemed empty. I isolated and felt lonely. I could not understand why other people didnt seem to care about me, and like you, my eating habits and sleeping habits were crazy. If you cant shake this after a bit, I think you may need help with antidepressants, but you should see your Dr. and tell them how long you felt like this. Getting a job is tough to do even when you are hitting on all points, and not getting a job is stressfull, and fuels rejection, and self rejection. Stress really takes a lot out of our chemical balances, so does not eating well. Try to get at least one hour of sunlight on you eyelids everyday, visit a pet store, garden supply house or someplace else that reveals life to you. If you dont recognize yourself anymore, see your Dr. I found out the hard way that depression cannot be ignored. Please take care and I am proud of you for reaching out. Your gonna get pass this, its a season, and seasons cant help but change. You'll see.

oops typing error in title
When you edit something, you have to find the "save changes" button at the bottom of the edit page, then when you hit enter, the changes should be there. Thats the only thing that I could think of that you could have missed. Did you hit the save changes button?

lol, I have tent underwear too!!! Once when my sweet MIL was visiting, we were folding a load of whites and she got to one of my undies first and held them wide open and said, "my son is married to someone who wears these?!?" I was so incensed! I wanted to tie her up in them!! Now she hasnt seen me since Ive lost 80lbs, and she wont see me till June and I plan on being down at least 100lbs. Should I give her one of my old tents for a souvenir? Ha I doubt if she would even remember.

Tell Me
I want to know about all the wierd colloquailisms we have in the United States. I know a few but I think it would be interesting to hear about more and to know where in the country the saying comes from.. I never heard of opening a can of whoopass untill Dr. Phil said it and he says a lot of those things. My mom from Alabama used to say "gimme some sugar" and we knew she wanted a kiss, so how bout it America, what do you say that is only pertinant to your area of the States?
-
Mommy dearest, the destoyer....
Your doing great, just keep on, its hard to ignore when its your mom, after all we all want approval from our mom. I just think that if someone is in competition with you, it must mean that they feel like you are already one up, and it spurs them on to improvment. You must be her inspiration, instead of her being yours. Give her grace and just watch in the future when you have met your goal and feel really great, what difference did she make anyway? Your gonna be the winner with or without her approval. Sorry for the broken heart though, that part is the pits, no doubt about that. Dont you know that you are precious? Im proud of you for taking care of yourself, and toss those big clothes out, maybe save one souvenier to burn in the end. I am keeping one. Just for my goal reaching victory, kind of like those old fashiond mortgage burning parties. You can come over when I do that and you can burn yours too, OK?

Acceptable Bigotry?
Lapdancer, I agree that speaking as if one knows what Jesus would condone or not is saying a mouthful. The idea that Jesus is capable of only love and acceptance is not embracing the fact that He is jealous, and is angry when the Fathers will is attributed to someone else, or when someones will is proported to be the Fathers as he said to one of His best friends, get thee behind me Satan!!... wow, I would never want to hear that. Another thing that makes me squirm is when Jesus said, " Away from me, I never knew you "....gulp. He truly wants our hearts, not our works.

Acceptable Bigotry?
Its interesting...the blood. Its what makes demons flee. Its also the most important thing to life. Its more precious than the air we breathe. If its so valuable, how can anyone hate it? What is so revolting about it. Have you not ever loved anyone so much that you would do anything to keep them with you? Yes blood is impressive, but not revolting. Impressive indeed.
