    @@aelovelady - Great answer! Very few (if any) are 100% perfect. The key as @@aelovelady said, just forget about yesterday, heck forget about the last meal and just move forward. You can correct this day and then today will be even better. This is a really emotional journey, so feeling a little down is not abnormal. Just gotta distract yourself and power through the urges to eat until they are gone!

    Lisa, unfortunately I have had several day like this and it really isn't any fun. I have had to choose to not think about yesterday, last hour or last minute as there is nothing you can do, but learn from those mistakes. Focus on what you can do now, for the rest of today. It sounds silly, but so much of this is in our thoughts. You can learn to control them if you try. Feel better!

    You are going to have many ups and downs along this journey. You are not going to be 100% perfect 100% of the time for the rest of your life. You need to be able to move past any slip-ups without getting yourself into some downward spiral of self-pity and self-loathing. No one is perfect. I had two pieces of ice cream cake for my birthday just yesterday! I'm not beating myself up about it. It's one day in my whole life, coming after a day that I ran 7 miles for my half marathon training. I'm training for a half marathon! That's how much my life has changed. A couple of pieces of birthday cake? Who cares. It's the same for you. You need to focus on all the positive life changes you've made. You are down 70 pounds! Move on.

    My surgery was Jan 5th and I lost 50Ibs and since my pre-op diet I'm down 70Ibs. Has anyone else lost this amount of weight in a couple of months? Everyone keeps telling me I'm losing it to fast.

    I am about 2 ½ months post op and finding it very hard to get my Protein in on the weekend. I am fine during the week because I have a desk I sit at and can constantly be looking at the clock but on the weekend, I forget to eat. Until I having someone asking me if I had eaten yet? Anyone else having this problem?

    Did you feel it was like a short nap or long nap? Were you drowsy when you woke up? How long was your surgery? ????
    It felt like an actually sleep. You do wake you a little drowsy and you will be going in and out of sleep for most of that day. I wanna say my surgery was around an hour.

    I am having such a hard time eating slow I'm on regular foods now but still on 1/4 of a cup. I need to figure out a way how to take me time! I'm fine with the whole waiting 30 mins before and after with drinking. It's just eating part!

    Lisa_85 reacted to Babbs in Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!
    It doesn't stretch. The swelling from the surgery goes down and you are able to eat more without feeling as much restriction. This is a gradual effect as months go by.
    The part of the stomach that is left after surgery is the less "stretchy" part. You would have to eat to the point of vomiting every day for a long time to get your sleeve to stretch even a little, unlike the pouch from a bypass that can stretch quite a bit over time with overeating.
    I never took 45 minutes to eat, never chewed my food to a paste, and now can drink 16 oz of Water in about 10 minutes or so. And I still have great restriction at 8 months out. Keep in mind the amount of restriction you have depends on what you are eating. The denser the Protein, the better restriction you'll have. Things like crackers, Cookies, and chips will cause little or no restriction. If you keep to the rules of the sleeve ( no drinking before or after eating after a certain amount of time, measuring your food and stopping when satisfied not full, Protein first, then veggies, then if you have room starch) you will have restriction even after your stomach has healed and loosened up a bit months and even years down the road.

    People who are currently and formerly obese say a lot of destructive things to themselves. This happens so often that we stop noticing what we're doing. For instance:
    "I am constantly feeling like I am doing stuff wrong. I get so upset over it."
    Yes, these are expressions of real emotions and deserve to be aired and explored. But they are also actual instructions we give to ourselves that teach us how to feel and how to behave.
    Below are other negative self-talk I have heard myself and others voice online and, I'm sure, in our heads:
    * I can't do this.
    * This is too hard.
    * I can't do anything right.
    * I'm a failure.
    * People don't like me.
    * People don't admire me.
    * I am unworthy of love.
    * I don't like myself.
    * I hate myself.
    Research about human behavior tells us that our own thoughts precede and shape our future actions. Hope and acceptance beget better self care. And better self care is what we're all trying to improve and put into practice here.
    The Internet has hundreds of sites suggesting daily affirmations that could be useful. Some of them seem a little goofy, but others seem helpful. Just google "affirmations."
