  1. Hi guys, Today (day 7) I feel fantastic! I went to the Dr to take my dressings off this morning and they look great - I would be suprised if you can see a scar. I went shopping and basically had a good time. Hope you all feel better with more energy, I think I just got past the hungry weak feeling. Jen
  2. Gee, I must have missed something. I'm sorry that you experienced this though. I would like to think that everybody is accepted here - we've all experienced the attitudes towards being overweight and I would have though that we were more open-minded.
  3. Hi Nay, Welcome and good luck! JEn
  4. Hi Chuckles, I number of people have used some of their superannuation to fund their surgery when they don't have private cover. Maybe you could try that! I'll be about $3500 out of pocket I think, but I'll know more once I have gone to my fund this afternoon, Jen
  5. Hi Nikki! Welcome! It's nice to see another Aussie here (even if you are a long way away!) Jen
  6. Hey Amy, It is totally normal!! I actually suprised myself and didn't wonder if I was doing the right thing before surgery! I was just so darn excited to have it done. It wasn't until I woke up that I wondered if I had done the right thing - now I know it was definitely the right thing to do. If you weren't nervous and excited, I'd be worried. Good luck! Jen
  7. Hi all, I was wondering the same thing. Most of my friends and family have been supportive. I'm just womdering what it will be like to be close to goal. I can just see the comments coming "you're too skinny now, is anything wrong?" "you've lost too much weight and look sick" "don't you think you are taking it too far?". Well, of course when I am the size of a cow and suddenly look like a normal human being, I'm going to look too skinny, even with a BMI in the healthy weight range!
  8. Good luck tomorrow's bandsters, be it the 21st or 22nd wherever you are! Jen
  9. That's great Saleel, glad to hear you are getting better. I've only just started getting port pain, for some reason. I see my GP tomorrow and my dietician/surgeon next week. I've lost 3 kilos this week, how are you going, or haven't you weighed yourself? Jen
  10. Hi Peg, Welcome! I was banded 6 days ago and still on my liquid diet. Good luck with your banding date this month, I'll be looking out for your post! Jen
  11. Thank you so much for asking the question. I also have plantar fasciitis and I'm tired of wearing ugly shoes with orthotics. I'm also tired of cutting short shopping sprees because I was in pain!
  12. Good point Laurend, I hope my glass rings still fit! I got a stack of them. On the other hand, I no longer need to resize my wedding ring!
  13. Better out than in, I say! I wish I could burp like I used to, but now they are pathetic, little and quiet!
  14. Don't know about the pulling and how long it lasts....I'd definitely call your Dr and ask about the popping, though.
  15. Congrats LA! I also had nausea, but it settled once the pain meds stopped. With the liquid stage - tough it out - I'm still on it, but sure that it is worth it somehow!! Take care, Jen
  16. I was thinking the same thing, pity I am in Sydney Australia. Any other Aussies want to take part?
  17. Ok, so I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet and I'm back to the I'm not hungry stage. I'm weak from not having too many calories but I'm really forcing myself to at least have something. Gone are the starving days where I just couldn't get enough. I've never had to force myself to eat before!
  18. I'm always tired. I've been having a nap in the afternoon. I'm on liquids for another week I slept in my bed ok since the first night - it was just last night that I struggled - I think the low calories gave me really wierd dreams and kept waking me up!
  19. Sorry Diane! I don't know how you are doing it. I feel weak enough on my diet!
  20. Hi Glitter, I didn't have that sensation, just a stretching feeling when I stood up - I even walked around a little stooped at first. It's possible that it is the gas that they pumped into your abdomen at the start of surgery moving around, but might be a good idea to contact your Dr.
  21. Hi Donna, Good luck, it didn't hit me that it was real until I woke up after my surgery! Try the tutorial link below for your ticker and pm me if you get stuck! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Good luck!
  22. Congrats!! Good luck, we'll see you on the lighter side!
  23. Hey Ginger, I did the same thing a week before my surgery. I took 4 bagloads of clothes to Vinnies (charity store), filled my garbage bin with junk and listed a number of items on ebay. I got rid of any clothes that were too big, I only kept in my closet the clothes that fit now and the ones that were too small have gone into hiding for a party in 2 months time! I can't wait to go shopping in there!!
  24. Well done Nat! That takes some discipline! 1626/Autograph will always be Fat Katies to me - I so can't wait to give that store the flick!
  25. Hi Laurinda, I was banded on 15th in Sydney. It has been HOT here, so spending a lot of time indoors with the fan on. I'm still a little sore and feeling weak from my liquid diet. Day 1 and 2 were pretty awful, Day 3 and 4 were heaps better, but day 5 was fairly ordinary. Hopefully today will be better and I'll get some sleep!
