Home & Banded

Recommended Posts

Hi every one, I was banded on Wednesday and came home from hospital yesterday. I felt awful, dizzy, nauseous and had a really bad headache. I worked out that it was the capadex pain killers that I took before I left the hospital so stopped taking them. After a really bad headache all night the fog has lifted and I now feel ok. I'm sip, sip, sipping on my fluids but I know I won't get through all of the ones the dietician wants me to have. I'm walking around the house but am very bored counting how many tiles I have. Thanks for all the good wishes. I will post more in the next couple of days.

Glad to hear everything went okay saleel! Sorry you're not feeling too good! I was also very nauseous in the hospital and in the middle of the night. It's great that you're walking well! You'll be feeling better and better each day!

Congradulatins saleel22! I'm sorry you haven't been feeling that great. I was okay at the hospital but once I got home it was a different story. Thursday it hit me a lot harder than I had felt on Wednesday. We are finally on the other side YEAH!!!!

Congratulations Saleel. Hope you are starting to feel more alive now. Don;t be in too much of a hurry to get oiut and about - I spent most of Tuesday out and really paid for it yesterday. However I am feeling hugely more lively since I stopped taking the painkillers too. I found they really cloud my memory!!

Keep sipping. I am making carrot and coriander Soup tonight as I finished my first huge pot I made yesterday.

It will get better Saleel. I was banded on Tuesday, never needed pain meds, and I worked half the day today. I was so hungry I stopped at my surgeons office to beg them to let me have Soup. They said I could start on Protein Shakes, so I just had Muscle Milk. I am so wanting something hot like soup or oatmeal and the broth doesn't cut it. Anyone who says this is the easy way out has no clue what we are putting our selves through just to loose weight. We are amazing. Hang in there. I keep telling myself it's just a couple of weeks out of the rest of our lives. We will get past this and beyond. Hope you feel better soon. Diane

congrats Saleel~

glad you are feeling better. I was banded yesterday (17th) and wasn't given that same pain meds...thankfully. They gave me liquid Lortab. It really is helping with the pain at the port site but makes me very sleepy. I'm worried about gas pain....I don't have any yet but dread the thought b/c so many have said it is really awful. Any gas pain for you yet? How much walking and sipping are you doing? I haven't left the house yet, just walking around upstairs and downstairs in between naps. Thanks for your update...it's always nice to follow along with others progress.

Thanks every one for the good wishes. Hi Tweenwaters congrats. I haven't had any pain (yet) My biggest thing was the Migraine that I had for a couple of days. It was really hard making myself sip liquids and walk around the house when my head felt like it was going to explode. Maybe that's where all my gas went-straight to my head.lol I feel better today. No pain just a slight uncomfortable feeling sometimes in my chest. I then walk around the house again counting the tiles and it seems to go. Good luck every one. Hope all your pain is gone soon.

I'm glad you're feeling better Saleel. And it gets better every day. I was banded on the 14th. On day 2 and 3, I was rather uncomfortable and in a fair amountof pain. Today (day 5) I would say I feel almost 100%. Just minor abdominal pain. Nothing major. So I hope the recovery keeps going good for you and that you too are 100% before long. Keep up the good work...

Hey Saleel,

Glad to hear that you are ok. I'm fine apart from being a little light-headed and ditsy! I have to drink more Water. I can't wait to be able to drive!

Hey Saleel,

Glad to hear that you are ok. I'm fine apart from being a little light-headed and ditsy! I have to drink more Water. I can't wait to be able to drive!

I've also get a little light-headed and dizzy (does ditsy mean dizzy is "Australian"?) when I get up from sitting down for a while. I am drinking a lot of Water, at least a 50 oz (1.5 Liters) so I'm not dehydrated. Is it because we aren't eating a lot of calories? I'm averaging 500-600 cals the past few days. Anybody else feeling this way?

Hi Redtulips3,

Ditzy means scatterbrained, not thinking clearly, a bit dotty. This is what I am still. I just accidently erased my reply to you and had to start again. I keep writing the letters the wrong way around.

Ha ha.....I am dizzy a little, but ditzy means like I'm not that intelligent, bimbo-ish. I'm not thinking very clearly and I'm not stringing 2 words together very well.

You beat me - that's exactly my point. I'm usually a very pedantic speller, but right now I'm a bit dyslexic. eg. I wrote wait instead of weight before!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
