  1. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'll be going through the same process in a few weeks. I'm worried about getting down enough fluids. I probably drink close to a gallon a day now.
  2. As it so happens, I have a crust less chicken pot pie in my freezer. It says 2 grams of sugars. It has 22 gr of Protein and 22 gr of fat. When you're in ketosis you need the fat as that's what your body uses for energy. I haven't tried it yet. Sadly, the crust is my favorite part.
  3. The whole goal of Atkins is low carbs. The frozen meals I looked at only had 1 to 3 grams of sugar.
  4. Sounds like you're doing great. I hope to be at that stage in a few more weeks.
  5. I believe that lactose levels are lower in cheese and yogurt vs milk. I vaguely remember reading that somewhere.
  6. Eat lean protein and plenty of green veggies. Increase your physical activity. Keep your fats and carbs low. Track what you eat so you know if you're on target.
  7. @@Djmohr Good luck with your fusion. I did a triple cervical fusion a year and a half ago. It did the trick and also restored half an inch to my height.
  8. That's a pound a day! That's sounds great to me!
  9. I'm still pre-op. It's all these success stories that keep me motivated. I'm still 1 month from surgery. I've been using this time to follow healthy eating habits and exercise. Hopefully this will translate into a success story for me as well. Do you have a surgery date scheduled?
  10. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Been on blood pressure meds forever and it's been creeping up. Been on CPAP for years and that pressure was creeping up. Worried I'd develop type 2 diabetes at any time. Couldn't do anything without losing my breath. My cousin was sleeved last year and has been doing great. Time to get my act together. I don't know what it is about photos. I can look in a mirror and not "see" how fat I am but I look enormous in photos. My surgery date is coming up fast. Can't wait to be on the other side.
  11. At present my goal is 20g of carbs per day. That's less than the carbs in 2 ounces of french fries.
  12. Great question. I'm not allowed fruits during my pre-op phase. Would like to try out my new nutri-bullet but liquid spinach just doesn't sound good.
  13. @ Sorry to see you go. I must admit that I've ended up in some topics meant for ladies only. I browse recent and trending topics 99% of the time. They don't indicate what genre it was posted in.
  14. @ To tag someone, just click on "@mention" below their name. Their name shoulp pop into the reply box. More than one person can be tagged in a reply.
  15. Don't be afraid to go to the informational meeting. You're just there to learn and ask questions not to make any commitments.
  16. You're doing great so far. My date is coming soon. I can't wait. Good luck!
  17. Nope! You are not crazy. My surgery is June-22. I'm looking forward to losing this weight, getting healthy, and feeling like a million bucks! There are lots of success stories from folks your age and older. You can do it too! Good luck!
  18. I'm not at that stage yet but could the chewable vitamin pill be blended into a smoothy to mask it somewhat?
  19. @@Stacyc311 I recently purchased a nutri-bullet for the same reasons. I'm anxious to give it a try but I'm not allowed fruits on my pre-op diet. Good luck!
  20. @@BigDaddyJG Check out @@Smye 's bariatric friendly pizza recipe. I made it this evening. Yummy. If you haven't already, check out his blog. Here's the link: http://barideliciousfood.blogspot.com I'll try to add a picture of my results.
  21. @@Smye The Atkins induction diet is very restricted. I'm basically allowed meat/protein and green veggies. I've been eating some non green low carb veggies as well such as cauliflower. No fruit, nuts, or grains. I added a tablespoon of sugar free syrup to some eggs and low fat sausage patties and that gave me the illusion that a pancake was once on the plate. Spinach and kale omlets with a little bit of cheese is pretty satisfying.
  22. @@Smye Thanks for this recipe. Are the nutrition specs for one pancake or the batch? Either way, surprisingly low in carbs. I'm not technically allowed some of the ingredients so I guess I'll have to wait until I'm well into post-op.
  23. @@SoulGlo I'm on a very low carb pre-op diet. As for post-op diet, I don't think I'll have any room left to eat carby foods like pasta or bread once I get my requisite protein and veggies eaten. I'll (hopefully) be too full. At least in the weeks or months following surgery.
