Margo, girlfriend you are human! We chose the band to help us with our weightloss. Some days you will have little restriction and other days you will have lots of restriction. You are not on a diet! Just because you ate that today doen't mean you will tommorrow. Moderation is the key. When you were not banded there were days when you may had pizza just like there were days when you maybe had salad and fruits or other health choices. It all goes day to day. I used to be able to eat all the toppings(not really a bread person) off of a large pizza. I don't think I can do that now with my band. Relax you are doing great. Just don't eat pizza everynight maybe once a week or so. We are not Dieting just changing a few bad habits!!! From one Diva to another Dee Dee

Christine I have been there girlfriend and it is hard. Everyone tells you it will get better for me it did not get better I just dealt with it better. I know how you feel and everyone is different. I didn't have to go through a pre-op diet but for me the 2 weeks liquid diet post-op was bad. You will survive it and get through it..but as for it getting better if that were the case then we all would still stay on liquid diets right? You will be on the liquids for 4 weeks by my calculation 2 before and 2 after. After banding you will not find it that hard for the first week to ten days due to the swelling. I don't know if your doctor fills at the time of surgery or not. If he does you will probably have an easier time with the post-op liquids. Hang in there. Keeping it real, DeeDee

I talked with my surgeon(caught him in the hallway at work..good thing about working at a hospital). he said it was okay with the tenders if I smashed and chewed them to mush. He also said that I did not hurt my band because even though it takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal some people heal faster than others thus the increase in appetite. I told him I was scared I hurt my band and he told me not to worry. I am not gonna sweat it. I am not perfect in any way and what is easy for some of you may not be for me. I admire all of you who did not cheat in anyway during the first 6 weeks, you have great resolve. I am not like that if I was I would not have gotten the band. I would like to thank all the other banders who PM'd me(u will remain nameless) about your cheating episodes. I thank you for keeping it real with me. I feel better that you guys PM'D me to say that you slipped up too. Everyone is not perfect but the PM's(lol..pms..lol) really lifted my spirits. For the record, I didn't eat 20 tenders like I usually did before the band it was 4. My surgeon said 4 tenders will not slip or stretch my pouch especially cause I am unfilled. I broke down and ate some chicken tenders I smushed them to death and chewed them to mush. I had no problem eating them. They went down fine. As long as everything is mushy when it goes down it is alright isn't it? I mean chew to goo is what i did. Well that has been my only saving grace the tenders. I can have chicken in the can to make chicken salad so I figured chicken is chicken I just mashed it up. I did not get sick or anything.

I am seriously thinking about steak. I want some steak. I also want to eat some rice. What did you do? Did you give in? Will it hurt my band? I am getting so tired of the same ole food choices. I am a picky eater for a fat person and some of this stuff I get tired of really fast. I mean MOnday I will be 4 weeks post op. My nutritionist has me going to solids on week 6. I am beginning to think that it is not for the band but to optimize the weight loss or jumpstart it. I am so sick of yogurt and sf jello and I don't like mashed potatos I want some mac n cheese. I really got this band so that it would help me with portion control I don't want to have to diet with it. Certain foods are restricted everything has to be low fat and sugar free. This is the pits!

I was in and out! NO hospital stay for me. My surgery was totally outpatient. It was great. My mom is a retired nurse so she took very good care of me afterward. Most outpatient surgery centers do not provide rooms for overnight. If it is determined that you may need to stay overnight they will transport you to the hospital. I had outpatient surgery in my hospital so I knew I was not going to have to stay overnight! YEA! I have worked there for 14 years I do not want to have to stay overnight then it would be like I lived there. LOL

I am with Delarla on this one. I HATE the words chubby chasers! I had many a men want to be with me because of my size. I actually had a guy who was married to a beautiful petite woman actually stalk me on my job. He said that he loves big women. To each his own but to leave a marriage after 23 years because of her size...I ain't buying it! He is just going through some identity crisis like he is missing out on something. Some men think that there is this freak train of women(big and small) just waiting on them if they were not attached in someway. Lies! My father cheated on my mother when I was 2 years old and she was pregnant with my sister. My mother gave him the boot and divorced him when I was 3 and my sister was 3 months old. He has married 2 other times and married the 2 women he cheated on my mom with. In sucession of the adultery(lmao). He divorced the 2nd wife and has been married to the third for 20 years. In the 20 years they have been married he has only been faithful in the last 2. Now they are seperated but still date(lol). My mother has retired early at 51 years old(she is 56 now), owns her own house and looks great! Tell your friend what goes around comes around! To this day 33 years later he still asks my mom to take him back! LOL YOu never miss a good thing until it is gone. SHe will Survive!!!

I just ordered the magic bullet and it was shipped out on 9/15 so it should be here anyday now. I think it will be neat to have. I like dips and stuff and mixed drinks. My doctor said that I should give up Diet Pepsi and I did. I am NOT and I repeat NOT giving up MARGARITAS! That would just be downright cruel. My magic bullet will make my magic margaritas..cha,cha,cha,!!!

Hello! Glad that you have the restriction that you need to get going with the band. Pizza from Domino's?. That was my first job at age 15 until I finished college at 22. I can't look at Domino's pizza anymore LOL! I ate so much as a teen. Again good luck!

I am addicted to this site! Every morning and night I am lurking around meeting new bandsters and reading my life story almost on every thread. In this world today there is constantly someone reminding us of our differences. Whether it be color, socio-economic status etc. On this site I have found a true brother and sisterhood. I have met people that I would probably have never encountered in my lifetime. People from Australia,the UK and all around the United States. I am honored to be among such a wonderful calibre of people. People who agree to disagree and still give support to one another. If all of America and surrounding countries were like the people on this site what an even greater place this world would be. Thanks for being who you are and don't ever change. Amy it is just like we are experiencing the same fears! I guess because we were banded at the same time. I take blood pressure medicine but he took me off of the diuretic and now I am just taking the pill for my pressure. I think everyone is expecting me to drop alot of weight like the gastic bypass people and we won't do that. I think that maybe in our own minds we think the weight is gonna just fall off automatically, but so far it ain't happenin'. I think in about a month or 2 we will see the progress. I think that I am gonna be one of those who works better with fills cause right now I can eat more than 4oz at a sitting. I have gained and lost the same 4 lbs since initially losing the 19lbs. My nutritionist says that is because I progressed to the mushie stage. I hope that when we get to eat our own choices the solid foods that we will see the difference. Hang in there bandsister. We can do it!

At nine years old she is wise beyond her years! Isn't it wonderful when they notice the weight loss and actually are proud. To give you a party was awesome. Unconditional love, that is what children offer! Ain't it just grand!!! Congratulations for you!
