  1. My surgeon talked with my dietician and she totally revised my eating plan. He said that the diet is per Doctors orders and the nutritionist's job is to make sure calories and nutrients aren't being sacrificed. Well with that said I told him about not being able to have yogurt or cream soup stuff or sf pudding etc. He had her change the diet. I can have thin deli slices, yogurt, sf pudding lowfat cheese slices, eggs(soft scrambled or poached). My surgeon said that the liquid phase was okay for a week and full liquids does include cream soups thinned etc. Kathy I can have egg drop soup with the egg but to got slowly! I feel so much better now. he also said I ws doing very good and the weight loss is great but not typical so don't get discouraged if it slows down after the next 4 weeks. He said that all the surgeons who perform this procedure have different diet plans. Unfortunately my dietician had RNY in mind for me and that is the diet plan I was on. I guess she got confused since the majority of the patients are RNY. I had a slice of lowfat cheese..yum and 3oz of fat free turkey and ham... and I was full WHoo Hoo! I am on my way.
  2. ALL the doggies are cutie pies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love em!
  3. Mandy she is adorable!! As my little niece says " I'm in BIG school now". They are so cute at that age. Take lots of pictures. Go to all the parties! My sister teaches kindergarden and I go an read to her class on Fridays, the best Fridays of my life. Children are precious and loving. Honest too.(sometimes brutal but true)! Them pigtails are rockin'! LOL
  4. Parvathi monday is mushies but 2morrow they may tell me to start the mushie stage. I hope so.
  5. Heather NSV means Non-Scale-Victory. Youmay not have lost a pound(by the scale) but maybe you went down a dress size. Stuff like that .
  6. I will Kathy thanks for the hug. U are sweet.
  7. I cannot have cream of anything soup, per dietician. I cannot have sf pudding. I can have carnation instant breakfast but I don't like it. I am not the typical fat person because I am picky. I eat alot of what I like but I am picky about what I eat. I think that my dietician is not as experienced with Banded patients. They mainly deal with RNY patients. they have only banded about 50 people since April. I go in tommorrow to talk with her and my surgeon. Evryone is like man you lost some weight you look great but I don't feel great. I really think my main problem is that if I don't like the taste or it makes me gag I don't eat it and that's that. I did really well today I had 3 8oz protein drinks for a total of 45grams of protein. My dietician said that I should only drink half at a sitting just 4 oz. I drank the entire thing . I am beginning to think that she is confusing my surgery with the RNY. I will find out 2morrow cause I have alot of questions.
  8. NO this is not the easy way out! I can Amen that one! Losing weight is hard we all have to work at this. The band is no quick fix it is a tool. Besides you can get more positive support here on this site than at a meeting with closeminded individuals!
  9. I have been on my liquid diet for about 9 days now and I am in serious ketosis! I am 4+ which is very deep. I am not getting enough Protein also. My dietician said for me to eat tuna along with the liquid phase because of the headaches and other symptoms I am having. I am also drinking 100% apple juice but that is not helping with the ketosis. I get hungry sometimes and I just don't eat because now I am tired of tuna. I mainly drink a total of 8 oz of Protein drinks, 16oz of apple juice, and about 56oz of Water. I feel really wimpy about this cause alot of folks on this site seem to have had a relatively easy time with the liquid phase. I know some doctors fill the band a little at surgery and some leave the band unfilled. My doctor leaves the band unfilled. I don't want to hurt my band but my body is craving things that I know it needs. Last night I wanted a cucumber, I drank water and went to bed. This is not how I imagined bandlife would be. I am seriously thinking what have I done to myself? I try to be upbeat and positive but this doesn't feel natural to me. I am hungry and can't eat so I drink juice and lay down. This is no life. I am down 15lbs in 9 days that is great. My friends and family say they can see it in my face. That is great too. I don't feel great. I know my insides are supposed to heal but who is to say I don't heal faster than the next guy. I think for me the mushie stage will be better I dunno. I may not be able to hold out until the mushie stage, I dunno. I go to my surgeon tommorrow and I will discuss this with him and the dietician. Well thank you for letting me vent. Dee Dee
  10. Yeah! Melissa girl u are on your way. Get used to the liquids girlfriend while you can..I know it is hard but it will give you great benefits of weightloss. I am on my second week of liquids and still am not used to just drinking meals(I still say it ain't natural). Anywho I am starting to babble..but congratulations!!!
  11. Praise God!! Thank you for keeping us informed! Hallelujah! Come on get Happy!
  12. Estela, I too went through having a lump removed from my breast. I know what your mother is going through right now. Please tell her for me that there is no heartache or pain that Jesus cannot heal! He was with her before the biopsy and he is with her now. The results I pray in Jesus' name will be benign! You are a wonderful daughter!
  13. Suzi the surgery is easy. The hardest part for me was finding a comfortable position to sleep in. I usually sleep on my stomach but that is out of the question right after surgery. I have new respect for the recliner. U will do great!
  14. OKay Nana I am in this one too. I will post everything on Thursday! The cloaks are cool! I know I will look good in that purple one.. LOL!
  15. Great Job and not even banded!! Whoo Hoo! That is a great accomplishment I cant wait to get to that point! U are an inspiration! I won't be doing 400 stomach crunches though..lol maybe 4.
  16. Okay I am in. I hate taking pictures because of my birth defect but what the hay..lol I will post a pic on Thursday. I currently weigh 319. I want to lose 30 lbs in this challenge! Whoo Hoo!
  17. Hey Ebony it is next week and maybe you are banded already. Stop back by and let us know what's up with you. Take care. Dee Dee
  18. Imani girl the liquid phase of the post op can be as long as two weeks. I mean you will lose weight but it is up to you to be on liquids for a month. I would if I were you right now,I would try out different Protein drinks and shakes. Just to see which ones you really like and the ones you can't stand. Then supplement one of them for a meal each day. Start drinking 8 (8oz) glasses of Water a day, and start walking or some physical exercise 30 minutes or more each day. Just get used to doing what you will be required to do after getting the band. If you want to try a liquid diet go ahead, but it is up to you. My doctor didn't require me to do a pre-op liquid diet, thank God. I am barely handling the post-op liquid diet. I just started week two. Hope this helps. Dee Dee
  19. I absolutely loved Diet Pepsi! I haven't had one since being banded. I went through withdrawls. I really did. I know it was just the caffeine leaving my body. I was a serious Diet pepsi drinking. Almost four 24oz bottles a day. Hardly ever drank water. I have been drinking water non-stop now. I love water now. My skin is looking better too. It took me two days of withdrawls, I mean headaches and all. I now know what a smoker, drug addict, or alcoholic goes through; addiction is addiction.
  20. I was banded on august 8/29/05. I weighed 335.4 lbs at the time of surgery and in a week I have lost 17lbs! I hope it keeps going at this rate! I am sure I will plateau but I will survive!
  21. Happy Birthday to you and many more!!
  22. Margo you multiply by 2.2 Another person on this site had there weight in kg and lbs and I did the math. I don't know if this is right cause according to my calulation she has lost 70lbs, and according to the band date it has only been a month.
  23. Thanks Alex! Man u rock! I love this site I have recommended it to the surgeon's office so they can tell future banders where to go for daily support. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do. Peace, Dee Dee
  24. Eileen 2 more days girlfriend you will be talking with the man!!! Whoo Hoo! Then soon after you will be banded and headed with me toward our brick house bodies!!!
  25. This is just my own little survey that I am hoping to give my dietician on Thursday when I go back 4 my 10 day post-op visit. I have noticed that the Mexican Doctors are more lenient with the liquid phase. Some of the American Doctors only require 1 week of liquids, 1 week of mushies, 1 week of semi solids, and finally 1 week of solids then you are on your own. Thanks for your participation. I am not concerned about the pre-op liquid fasting just the post -op diet. Thank you, Dee Dee
