Thanks Angie and Mandy(hey that rhymes) I am still going through with the band. I too have heard all of the negative people equate with the band. I have to do what is best for me. Besides my sister (there are just us two girls) is getting married next year and I am the Maid(when will this change!, sorry I digress) anyway I am the maid of honor. She is 3 years younger than me and all of my family is like when are you gonna settle down. Well I am gonna get married on August 29th to my band. Together next year July we will attend the wedding and have the time of our life!! Hopefully alot healthier cause I want so much to dance at my sisters wedding all night long. Celebrate!!!!

My nutritionist at the surgeon's office here stated that a 2 weeks post op I should try to do liquids for a week and walk 30 minutes a day. I start this monday. Right now I can do slimfast and atkins drinks. After banding they are a no-no. I cannot use boost, slimfast, atkins or equate. They had a list of other protein drinks. I have seen many posts where alot of people use boost, slimfast, atkins etc. Why would she tell me that this is not good on the liquid phase after banding?

Thanks everyone. I know my friends mean well but I have lost hundreds of pounds over my lifetime. I can diet and exercise but I am not consistent enough. The longest I have ever gone is 1 year. I slacked up a little and then spiralled out of control gaining back the 70 I lost plus 25 more! I am not in competition with them I just want to know what it is like to be able to go in a shop and pick something off of a rack instead of specialty ordering and travelling to the fat lady store(although the fat lady store still rocks it ain't like it was when I was in school no polyester pants, LOL) I want to be able to get on a rollercoaster without having to guess if I would fit. I don't ride them cause I don't want the embarassment of having them say sorry u are too big. I want to jet ski, scuba dive everything that I am afraid to do now. I have let weight control me all of my life this time I want the control. I feel the band will help me tremendously!

I hear ya with the VIOXX. I had a bad reaction to it the very first week. I told my doc that something was wrong with it he said it just needed to get into my system. Fast foward 2 years and it is off the market. The fda has banned it. Go figure! LOL

Well Penni I though that at first. They all told me one night while we were out that they couldn't let me outdo them and get smaller than they are.

Almost everybody knows that I am getting the LapBand procedure done. Thanks in most part to my talkative friends. It wasn't a big secret but somedays I think I should have just kept it to myself. I work in a hospital that just started doing Lapbands this March. They were doing RNY since 2001 but now Lapbanding is on the rise. Well I have noticed that about all of my friends are now dieting and exercising. They bring their lunches to work instead of eating out. One of my friends actually switched to all soy products. They are all smaller than me the heaviest one is about 235lbs. They all got together and decided to diet because they were not gonna let me get smaller than them so now they have to get going losing weight cause the band is gonna make me skinny fast. They have no idea that the band is a tool to help me. It kinda hurt my feelings. I mean knowing your friends are trying to keep true the fact that you are stilll the biggest one. I guess after 20 years of being the fattest one, they are afraid. I have a great personality and meet people with ease but the one up they have on me is they are not obese. I know that with more self confidence I will be something to reckon with and they know it too. Why wouldn't you want your best friend to experience what you take for granted? I go shopping with them at places where I can only fit through the door cause nothin else fits. I love them but this hurts I mean what limit will they go . The smallest one is 5'0 and she weighs 138lbs she is trying to get to 115 now . I go what the Heck are you doing? Well i am done venting but seriously has anyone else had this to happen?

Please Save the bunnies! Also look into the elementary school system to see if maybe a class wants to adopt a bunny. First you have to get them checked by a vet. Sometimes you can inquire at the vet to see if they know people who are interested in Bunnies. I don't really care for cats but a stray had 3 kittens in my backyard. They have been eating my dogs food and he lets them he is a BIG puppy. I broke down and bought cat food an now even though I am afraid of cats they run to me and purr and rub against me (after I finish having my panic attack) I go inside. Last night I went to check on the kitties and found a big turtle in my back yard. I guess the cats spread the word so I gave the turtle some lettuce I saw that on tv or something. I guess i am officially Dr. Doolittle. LOL Take care! DeeDee

I collect pens. Writing pens the crazier looking the better. I love anything purple so all of my friends if they see a purple fuzzy pen or some neat pen that maybe lights up or sing a song they get it for me! LOL I had a pen once that had a radio in it, unfortunately it "walked" away from me LOL. So if any of you have interested pens that you stumble upon PM me. Oh yeah and somehow I have this huge collection of PowerPuff Girl stuff. I love them!!!(at 36 who would have thunk it)

My insurance plan is with GROUP RESOURCES in Duluth Ga. I am a Lab technician in our one and only hospital. Our hospital provides the service so it is in the "network". My pre cert was submitted on june 6th they received it on june 13th. We waited and waited on July 6th they informed me that they needed 2 years of medical records to corroberate that I had high blood pressure and was over 300lbs for more than 2 years! How about I have been over 300lbs since I turned 27. I am now 36. I have called and they recieved my 2 years worth of records so now on the 15th I will know if I am approved. I have high blood pressure, Lupus, Secondary scleroderma, Arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome , and fibromyalgia(other stuff they can't diagnos). My insurance already pays alot for the other illnesses in medicne alone. My PCP, and my specialist say that everything except the lupus would be eliminated or manageable with WLS. Get this they both suggested the Lapband because they say it is safer. They are advocates for the band Hurray and have written letters along with the records. If they turn me down I am fighting like hell to get it!

I took a 560 question test first. About 100 of the questions were asking me if I ever thought about killing someone just reworded each time LOL! Naw just kidding but some of the questions were weird. I had and appointment with the psych doc who was really sweet and said that nothing was wrong with me!(shocked my sister and mother who swore up and down that someone else took the test for me! lol) I was very honest and upfront about what I wanted to do when I had lost the weight. The number one thing is to ride a horse. He said but you can do that now. I said that would be cruel to the horse LOL!! Don't sweat it be honest and upfront and you will be fine.

DOes mobic work for you? It did absolutely nothing for me. The cyclobenzo thing is flexeril I think . I have that it works and tramadol. The wellbutrin and phentermine are the ones working against your kidneys. I was taking them too had to stop because I went from regular kidney function to once a day but when I stopped them both I went back to normal in about a week. Prozac is good not only for depression but for pain management and in some cases it acts as an appetite suppresant. Ask your doc to switch u up and see. Take it from me I should go into pharmacy profession as many pills as I had to take with the lupus and other stuff lol. Peace!
