  1. I know, I'm stoked about it too! It really is good we have this forum, it's our own little private room, and we need it...........because we all know the side effects of PCOS can be a little embarassing sometimes, lol!
  2. Thanks, I'll definitely keep it in mind. Hopefully the doctor will be able to tell me something.......... I have the APS 10cc band with 6.5cc in it. My restriction is pretty darn good right now!
  3. Let us know how you like it, I think you'll you'll be pleasantly surprised by how good it is.
  4. FairyFacade, this one sounds good too! Jack- can you post your DW's recipe, it sounds good too!
  5. My sister said she has used butternut squash too, but she prefers the spaghetti squash. Spaghetti squash looks like spaghetti noodles when you rake them away from the skin. Kind of a fake out thing.......at least it looks like spaghetti, right? :tongue2: IMO, it taste just as good as Pasta would and it's a lot better for you. I haven't tried onions or garlic, mainly because pesto already has a lot of garlic and seasonings in it. But I'm sure it would be good. I might actually try some adding some sauteed onions though. Thanks for the tip!
  6. Your welcome. Since being banded I've really broadened my horizons with food. In the past, I would just eat the same fattening foods and not try anything new. Now, I can't eat as much, so I try to get as much of a variety as I can.
  7. I weighed again this morning and I am still 265, only 1 lb down, but I'm not giving up. My eating habits are about to change drastically. I think I have been having gallbladder attacks, I'm not sure but I made an appointment to see my doctor next Wednesday. I have been doing Atkins for a while and I think eating high fat/low carb and rapid weight loss might be causing my problems. I am going to start really adding in some veggies and fruits along with lean meats and just start eating healthier in general. The thought of another surgery is making me sick.....but I shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. I'll let everyone know what the doc says on Wednesday. I've still been doing very well with going green for the environment though. I've gotta get back to eating some green foods though, I've slacked off the past couple of days. Anyone else have any updates???
  8. This recipe was sooooo good! My sister made it for me and now I am hooked. It's a tasty way to get in those veggies! Ingredients: 1 Spaghetti Squash 1-2 tbsp. EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2c. Buitoni pesto with basil 1/2c. shredded parmesan cheese Cut the squash in half, lengthwise, and scoop out the seeds. Brush squash with EVOO and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place the 2 pieces of squash, face down, on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until skin is soft. After it completely cools, take a fork and rake the inside away from the skin into a casserole dish. You can either mix in the pesto or layer the pesto over the squash. Then sprinkle cheese evenly over the top. Place the casserole in oven and cook until cheese melts. I think it will make about 8 servings I entered the recipe at thedailyplate.com and here is the nutritional info: Serving Size- 1/8 of the recipe Calories- 132 Fat- 10.53 Carbs- 6 Protein- 4
  9. I know, I called my general doctor today and made an appt for next Wednesday. I hope it's not gallbladder, the thought of another surgery makes me sick :tongue2:
  10. Thanks for the info guys, I called my family physician and he can see me next Wednesday. I've only had 2 episodes and they didn't last that long, compared to some I've heard about. I hope it's not gallbladder, I really don't want to have surgery again :tongue2:. I'll let you guys know what I hear from the doc and thanks again.
  11. I've never heard of gallbladders being removed with WLS, but I have heard that some people had hernias repaired with WLS.
  12. Hey everyone! I think I may be having gallbladder attacks. I knew that obese people were at high risk for gallbladder problems, but I didn't know that rapid weight loss could cause it. I think I have had 2 gallbladder attacks. Both happened at night. The first one was a stabbing, cramping, sharp pain in my lower back that lasted about 30-45 minutes. The second one was a stabbing, sharp pain right under my ribcage on my right side and it lasted about 30 minutes. Has anyone had their gallbladder removed and were the attacks similar to mine? I posted about this in a couple of different places, but didn't get much of a response. Any information would be appreciated.
  13. Laurend, this is soooo weird............first the ear infection, now this. I'm begining to think we were seperated at birth, lol! I am having the same problem....kinda. I had an episode last Saturday night, a very sharp, cramping, stabbing pain in back started and lasted for about 30-45 minutes. It went away, so I didn't think much about it. Then last night, I had the same sharp, stabbing pain right around my ribcage on my right side, it lasted for about 30 minutes. I couldn't hardly move and it hurt worse when I tried to. I did some research and I was thinking it could be gallbladder. I never knew that losing weight could cause gallbladder problems, I always heard that obese people were at high risk, but not weight loss. I guess I'll wait it out and see if I have another attack......
  14. I saw it! They usually don't have to many lap band patients, mostly Gastric Bypass patients. He really did do a good job explaining what he was doing and how it would work. I was sooo proud of Tiffany. I really hope she sticks to it and has good success. I could really tell a difference in her face after she lost some weight.
  15. Hazeleyegrl- I have been having major sweet tooth attacks too! I think it's because I had stopped taking my meds, but I started back taking them today, so I don't have any more excuses, lol! chocolate Snaps- no loss is better than a gain, I haven't lost either. I guess I'm going through another plateau, and I'm hoping to bust through it soon!
  16. It could be because I am only taking 500mg a day. My Endo started me out low and wants to continue doing bloodwork and adjust as necessary. How many mg are you taking?
  17. Thanks for your response. What tests have to been ran in order to find out if it is in fact a gall bladder problem? I've only had two episodes, so should I wait it out and see if it happens again?
  18. Okay, last weekend I was at a Valentine's Banquet, sitting (had just started eating) and suddenly I had the worst back pain I've ever had. It was like a cramping, stabbing, sharp pain in my lower back. It lasted for about 30-45 minutes. It went away and I didn't think much else about it until last night. I was laying on my right side last night and decided to change positions. Well, that was a huge mistake...........I had an awful pain right underneath my ribcage on my right side. It was a very sharp, excruciating pain. I couldn't move because it hurt even worse when I tried. It lasted about 30 minutes, then went away. This time I had eaten about 1 and 1/2 hours earlier. I am begining to think maybe it is a gallbladder problem, but I don't really know. Can someone tell me what it feels like to have gallbladder attacks?
  19. I must be the only one that does not have that nasty side effect of diarrhea from taking metformin. Do you guys think it may be because my metformin is mixed with Actos? Idk, I'm just glad it hasn't affected me in that way. Smsmithart- you brought up a good point about craving sweets. I've been off my actos metformin since my fill last Tuesday because I wasn't able to eat solid food and I was getting light-headed and sluggish. Ever since I stopped taking it, I've only wanted sweets and junk food. I wouldn't have thought there was a connection until I heard you point that out. I'm definitely going to start back taking it today.
  20. Congrats Shadow! It really is a huge step, so congratulations for making the step to inprove you health and your life. I've been banded for about 5 months and I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  21. You're in my prayers. Good luck and I hope it doesn't get cancelled!
  22. Sorry you are having a rough time. I know all about the ear infections. I've been battling one for a few days and it's not getting much better. I actually get them fairly often and thank goodness, this one hasn't gotten as bad as most of my others. I think I may have caught it early enough. Now my throat is getting sore too! My niece and nephew had strep throat and I was around both of them. I hope it's just ear or sinus drainage and not strep throat. I feel you pain, it hasn't been the best week for me either. Hope you feel better soon!
  23. I think the name you came up with sounds good! Ginger kinda fits you. I hope you do share the pictures with us. Good luck and have fun with it!
  24. I don't know, but he seems like a totally different person this season.
