  1. Yes, I am working on all the details and I will try to post the challenge in the morning. I am really excited about it. I just got a fill today and I am hoping that it will help me get back on track. I'm still working on the Sweetheart Goal. I really hope I make it!
  2. Luscious Most of time, I try to eat low carb. That works best for me, especially if I am trying to blast through a plateau. Of course, I don't do atkins all the time, but like Losingjusme, when I do, I don't worry about fat content either. I strictly watch the carbs. Many people have success counting calories, and some eat the same foods as before, just less of it. My advice would be to find what works best for you. My surgeon wants me to eat Protein first, then non-starchy vegetables, then fruit or bread if I have room. Well I rarely have room for much more than my protein and non-starchy vegetable, so it works good for me. I agree that eating large quantities of sour cream and cheese isn't generally a good idea, but 1 tbsp of sour cream isn't that bad in my opinion. It only has about 30 cal and 2.5g of fat. It really isn't that bad, especially if you pair it with something like tuna that is pretty low in calories and fat. I think we can enjoy these things in moderation.
  3. ParaGirl, I've been fighting old demons for over a week now. It's really hard sometimes, especially on busy weeks, for me. I've had a lot of social functions to go to in the past couple of weeks and I have definitely blew it more than once. I have been through a period before, similar to this one, and I did get past it. It's a daily struggle and unfortunately, it is something we will always have to deal with. I would like to think that as we work towards making our lives healthier, we will learn to handle these demons better and the end result will far outshine our desire for food as pure enjoyment. I heard this saying once, "Eat to live, don't live to eat". One day, I hope I can say that is what I do. Until then, I'll try, try, and try harder. I got a fill today, and when I got home, I threw out all the bad stuff. I do so much better when I keep junk foods out the house. It's a start, right?
  4. Hey Susan Welcome! I was banded 9-20-07 and I have lost 66 lbs so far. The band has been wonderful for me. This site has excellent information and I'm sure once you've been here a while, you'll learn all about the band......... the good, the bad, and the ugly. You can search the pre-op/post-op questions forum and the complications forum to get some good info. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
  5. Lately, this is what I want to do when I step on the scales:
  6. Hey Jeannie! Yes, I did get a fill today! She gave me 1/2 cc, which I think may put me in the green zone! I now have 6.5cc in my band. I had lost 9 lbs since my last visit, 1 lb shy of meeting my 2 lb per week goal. Do you not have access to scales? That would absolutely drive me nuts!!! I usually weigh everyday (although I haven't in the past week because I was too scared to). I'm sure when you get home, you will see that the weight has fallen off of you. All of Dr. B's patients have done so well, I'm so proud of everyone. Good luck in Brunswick this week. Be safe and take care!
  7. I told everyone as well. Everyone I know, knows I've struggled with losing and gaining for years and I felt very confident in my decision, so I didn't mind telling. My family and friends have been very supportive, for the most part. I totally understand your resistance to tell your in-laws. My in-laws really didn't want me to get the surgery, but it's not their choice. They have gotten to be more supportive as I've lost weight. I also agree that it's a personal choice. Do what you think is right for you. Good luck in your journey.
  8. [quote name='hazeleyegrl1;719880 ALSO' date=' SINCE GOAL TIME IS NEARING, SHOULD WE BE CONSIDERING HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO THE EASTER CHALLENGE? HOW MANY DAYS BETWEEN VALENTINES AND EASTER? HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD THE GOAL BE? ETC????? SOMEONE WANNA THINK ABOUT STARTING A NEW THREAD FOR THE NEW EASTER/SPRING CHALLENGE??? [/i'] Okay, if no one else wants to take on the next challenge, I will. I agree with Kimmie, I think St. Patricks Day would be closer to a one month challenge. I have some really great ideas for this challenge, so if ya'll don't mind, I'll take this one on and someone else can pick up the next one! We can do some sort of rotation or something!
  9. Sounds good to me, St. Patty's Day and Easter are about a week apart, so it doesn't make a difference to me which one we use. I'm up for anything!
  10. Hey Allykat! Glad to hear you are joining the Bagnato Bandits! I absolutely love my band. I have good days and bad, but the bad days aren't near as bad as they were pre-band. Where are you from? Albany? Good luck at your appt. Let us know how it goes!
  11. Congratulations Hazeleyegrl!!!!! Whoooooo Hooooooo!!!!! I haven't been doing so well lately. I definitely haven't been eating like I should and I have a leg injury, so I haven't been exercising either. I go for a fill tomorrow (hopefully they will give me one), so maybe that will help. The scales keep going up and down, I lose and gain the same few pounds, so I hope I will make my goal, but I don't know. Even if I don't, I'm still proud of the weight I have lost. 12. Jeannie I really need to be working out but I haven't in a while. I've been dealing with a leg injury for about a week now. I kept telling myself that I probably just stepped wrong or something, but it keeps getting worse and worse. I don't know if I pulled something or what. I'm going to give it one more week and if it's not better, I guess I'll have to go get some x-rays. My weight has been at a standstill for over a week now. I really wanted to meet my Valentine's goal, but I'm not sure I will. I go tomorrow, or today rather, for an assessment. I think even a small fill might get me where I need to be. I actually gained a couple of pounds in the last week, so I hope I get one. Oh, I am also guilty of weighing everyday too! I just can't help it!!
  13. Jeannie, I just noticed you hit the 50lb mark! WHOOOO HOOOOO! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  14. Mia, I've have 4 fills with a total of 6cc's in my band now. I do have some restriction, but I don't think I am quite at my "sweet spot". I think a small fill might do the trick. Everyone is different though, some people only need one fill while others need several. Yes, they do. Mia, how are you feeling?
  15. Renewed, sonic has THE BEST drinks! I love their slushes! I like the strawberry cream slush, I would imagine that is pretty high in sugar and calories! I used to always get a cherry limeade too, but now I can't have carbonated drinks, so I haven't had one in over 5 months!
  16. Great NSV's!!! You know, I can't seem to get in the groove of exercising either. I know I really need to, and I agree with you, my husband and I were walking 4-5 times a week when the weather was warmer. We just need to get our butts in gear!!!
  17. Brandymom I don't think I'm quite at my "sweet spot", but I think I'm very close. I now have 6cc's in my 10cc band. It's pretty strange, because some days I can eat all I want, and other days I can only eat a few bites. This band has a mind of it's own, lol!
  18. Well, today wasn't too bad. Here's the menu: B'fast- low carb slim fast Lunch- 3/4 c. pumpkin chili Snack- 1/4 c. dry roasted edamame Dinner- 1/2 mushroom and swiss stuffed chicken breast & 1/4 c. green Beans Snack- a brownie  Even though I'm not doing low carb anymore, I'm still going to drink the low carb slim fast for Breakfast. It still has more Protein than the high protein slim fast and I think the calories are about the same.
  19. I'm sorry. I thought me and nip were the only ones going and nip wasn't feeling well. If I had known you were going, we could have met up anyway. I talked (through email) with Terri from Dr. B's office, and she assured me that they were working on putting support group meetings together. We will definitely set up another meeting though. I can't wait to meet everyone too!
  20. Mia- I'm so glad everything went well. I'm sorry about the soreness, but I know you're happy about the fill! Get plenty of rest and let us know how you are progressing. Have a great day!
  21. Thanks for the tip, I will be doing that from now on!
  22. Hey baboobabe! I'm really hoping I make the goal but I seem to be at a standstill right now. I hope to get another fill on the 12th, seems like I can eat like a cow lately :tongue2:. Happy Birthday to you too! Have a wonderful birthday and have fun!
  23. I don't really like Wal-mart, but I seem to be in there at least 3 times a week, go figure! I went last night to pick up a few things. The cashier rang me up, I ran my credit card through the machine, got my receipt and specifically asked the cashier if I had gotten all my bags. She had already started ringing up the next customer, she didn't even look at me, and she said yes, that's all of them. Well, I got home and noticed that I was missing a few things. I checked my car to make sure I didn't leave it in there, and it wasn't. So I called the store and they told me to bring my receipt and they would give me my items. I get there and the lady at customer service checks the book and said that it wasn't reported that it was left. She told me to go get the items and bring them back to her. Meanwhile, she asked the cashier about it, and the cashier said, "Yes, I remember, she came back and got it already". THAT WAS A COMPLETE LIE!! She was obviously trying to cover her own butt!! I'm sure the customer behind me got it because she started bagging theirs up before I even left! I told the customer service lady that I most certainly did not pick up that bag. She hesitantly gave me my items. I hate the fact that she probably thought I was some sort of thief, because I would never steal. It really put me in a bad mood!
  24. Well, I'm still stuck at the same weight. It probably won't begin to move in the right direction until next week. I've had a lot of social functions I've had to go to lately. I went to a bridal shower tonight, didn't do too bad because I saved up all day so I could enjoy. My son is having a birthday party Saturday, so I know I'll be eating some things I shouldn't, but hey, birthdays only come around once a year! How's everyone else doing?
  25. Thanks Renewed for getting this started!! I will start by posting what I had today, or yesterday rather! I'll for-warn you that I do not have accurate measurements. My sister had a bridal shower tonight and I saved up all day so I could enjoy the food, so I'll do the best I can in describing what I had. B'fast- Low carb slim fast lunch- Low carb slim fast dinner- 2 pig in the blankets, 3 bite-size cheese cubes, a small spoonful of chicken salad, a small spoonful of pimento cheese, 5 ritz crackers, and a mini muffin.
