Ok Here are a few pics, it is really embaressing posting these and I cant help but feel disgusted. Please note that the after pics have so much swelling that the final results are noticeable fully yet. I hope these pics dont offend anyone but I know most of us are in the same boat and I feel I can trust my friends with these. I will have lots more pics when I get home and I will make an album for you to see my progess. Thanks

Update...
*EDITED* I HAVE ADDED PICS IN A LOWER POST PLEASE DONT LOOK FURTHER IF THESE PICS MAY OFFEND YOU. Hi everyone, First off thanks for all the messages and phone calls. Anyway, from the beginning. I arrived at the hospital at 6.30am and was notified that it would be about 9am when I went in. I was taken down and drawn on and my surgeon ended up lipoing the back of my upper arms, my back fat and flanks. I had a breast lift without implants and an extended tummy tuck with aggresive muscle repair. I woke up in the most pain I have ever been in my life. I had a pain pump and was told to use that when needed. I pushed it constantly the first night. It is all pretty much a blur. The next day I asked for the pain pump to be taken off as it was sending me loopy...I hate that feeling...so they took that off and put me on digesics. They got me up out of bed which was like OMG, I actually cried it hurt so much. After getting up I felt so much better and that was the beginning of it. I showered and started walking bit by bit. Day 3 they came and took my drains out, some say it doesnt hurt some say it does. I say OMG I nearly passed out. Good thing is that the pain only lasts for a few seconds then stops...but that few seconds is like agony. Once my drains were out they couldnt keep me down. I stopped taking the pain meds through the day and walked as much as I could. I wanted to be ready when I left hospital and not be so useless. I had and still have alot of sweeling from the lipo and I have a garment covering my arms, then another one that covers from boobs to upper thighs. It is really tight and is uncomfortable at times but when I take it off to shower it feels weird, so at the moment I prefer it on. Since getting out of hospital I have had a run in with the toilet and constipation like you have never heard off, I actually passed out in pain and thought I was going to die. As for my results I am really happy so far. I still have huge swelling so cant see the actual results properly yet, but seeing my boobs on my chest with nipples pointing up and a tummy that doesnt cover my pinny and thighs is an amazing feeling for me. I have never had this in my whole life and it I tell ya is worth everything I have and am going through with the recovery. Pain - I say 9/10 the first day - then 3/10 after that. I dont feel pain my boobs just discomfort actually like when your milk comes in when you breastfeed, that is the exact feeling. I have no pain in the TT insicion just in the upper abs where they did the MR, and that feels like you have done 1000000000 sit ups. I do have pain from the lipo, which has been the worst of it all, so if you have the op done without it I really dont think for me it would have been painful much at all. The lipo feels like I have been kicked and beaten for hours and my body is covered in bruises...which it is. They took 3.8kgs off my belly and 3 kgs in lipo which is about 15lbs. No difference on the scales, infact I am heavier than they day of the op which is to be expected with all the swelling and fluid retention. Anyway thats all for now, I am going to try and work out how to show you the pics as I am feeling paranoid about posting them for the world to see. Ill think of something really soon. Hugs Kel xxxxxxx

Ban Food Ads?
This hasnt got much to do with the thread but what I hate is that smoking is all but totally banned here everywhere, if it is so bad for you and youre not allowed to do it anywhere why is it legal. I am a smoker and I have tried to give up so many times. i just wish they would make it illegal like drugs so we cant buy them and then we HAVE to give up. i really do wish this would happen.

The countdown is on...
Its Tuesday night here. I have just about everything organised for my Tummy tuck and boob lift. I am feeling really nervous and I am trying not to think about it too much. I have to drop the kids of tomorrow and do a few things and then I need to be up at 3am to head off to the hospital. I will update as soon as I can, but DH has Jess(Parvathi)s number and will let her know how I go and she will let you know until I can get on. Wish me luck Hugs everyone

Increased depression/anxiety after surgery?
I went through a depression stage after being banded. It lated a couple of weeks and then as I started to heal more etc it went away. I amhaving PS next week and my surgeon reminded me that 3 or 4 days post op a depression will hit me related to the anaethesia(sp). Then it may hit me again at 3 weeks or so. We all go through OMG what have I done to myself, is this the right thing etc. You will be fine in a couple of days. Good Luck

Parenting w/two sets of kids
I just re read my post and I didnt even offer any suggestions. There really is nothing you can do except go with the flow. Dont spoil them rotton or they will learn to expect it all the time. Lay down the law and let them all know it is the same rules for all of them. Never show favouritism, either of you. Let all of them know as much as you can that you love them and care for them like they were your own and you are a family. A counsellor didnt work for us either. Good Luck

Parenting w/two sets of kids
When my partner and I got together I was 23 and he was 39. He had a 12 yo, 15 yo and a 17yo. I had a 6 yo and 1 yo twins. We moved into together about 4 months later...ALL OF US!!! I had trouble adjusting to looking after teenagers and stuff since I was only 23. It caused alot of tension and fighting for about 2 years. Adjusting was one of the hardest things I have ever done. They was fight about favouritism, your not my MUM/DAD you cant tell me what to do and on and on. Neeedless to say we came through it, we have our own 22 mth old as well now. His youngest who is now 18 still lives with us, the elder two have their own places. I am very close to his youngest who has lived with us since she was 12 and I went through all the girl stuff with her, then the climbing out the window stuff. I treated her like she was my own and that took adjusting for her too. i continuously told her I loved her and cared for her like she was my own and that is why I was doing the things I was...chasing her all over the country side in the middle of the night when she was 13. She has come out of that stage now and is doing really well. I have to say though, the mixed family thing with lots of kids is soooooooo hard, I honetly dont know how Paul and I survived it. I think back and shudder at that 2 yrs of adjusting. Good Luck

What do husbands think
When I first started researching the band I mentioned it to Dh and the first initial reaction was "NO". As the months went by and I talked to him more about he started warming to the idea until I told him the price. I went to a consult with my Dr just to find out more. We sat down and had a talk about it after that. He wanted me to be happy and said he knows I am not happy the way I am and will help me anyway he can. Went back to the Drs a couple times, got my date, had the surgery and here I am. He has been my rock through all this.

Top Ten Reasons I Haven't Lost Weight This Week
Lovin it!!!! Could you please add ice magic in there somewhere - i have suddenly become addicted to something I didnt even like before banding. It would have to be at least number 2.

Cushing's
I am so glad you finally have a diagnosis - as happy as you can be being diagnosed with something like this. I just know all the frustration you have been through, all the wondering if it was you and why the band wasnt working for you. You have an answer now and the relief to know that must be immense. You are such a strong person to keep going like you have. I know I would have given up long ago. Good Luck Vines - you deserve it. Hugs

Eating vicariously through DH.........
I also know when we go to a restaurant or somewhere and Dh always orders a sirloin with diane sauce, I make him describe to me in graphic detail how it tastes from when he puts it in his mouth till when he swallows it - abnormal huh?
-
Eating vicariously through DH.........
Wow!!! Its funny you post this as I was thinking the same thing the other day. DH ha put on a little weight since I was banded too. I dont cook like I used to, we dont have take away like we use to, so I dont know why. I also havent noticed up until the last few months just how my family eats either. Do they taste their food, no sooner is it on the table then they are excusing themselves and finished. I end up sitting there by myself every night. I hold myself back from screaming "Slow down and eat like humans not animals" I havent said it yet but boy have I come close.

A Wow moment..
Oh guys - thanks for the kind words. I dont think I am getting anything for the article, and I dont mind that I am not. The makeover for the after shoot will be payment enough. I was also thinking you know your PS will put in 100% but imagine if he has a nationwide magazine reporting on it, I am sure it would make him put in 150% if you know what I mean. I still really cant believe it. They why me has been running through my head all day. One other thing since this is in Australia - Do you guys have cosmo over there and would it be the same? If not I will scan a copy on here when it comes out. Thanks again everyone Hugs

Fun Thread - Screen Names

A Wow moment..
Guess what?? My Plastic Surgeons Assistant called me today and said Cosmopolitan is doing a story on Brides and plastic surgery. They wanted to know if I would feature in it. I told them I would call them back as I had to talk to Paul first. He said to go for it so I called her back and said yes. I will have a before shoot and then a makeover and an after shoot and our wedding pics will feature as well. The Australian Plastic Surgeons Ass called me this arvo and confirmed I wanted to go ahead with it and could they pass my details on to cosmo. I said yes. So thats all exciting news. I am highly embaressed about before pics and people seeing them but I think the makeover and after pics will be awesome!!! Just had to share that with someone.

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?
I researched the band fro a year, I tried to find out all I could before going through with it. A friend of mine was extremely overweight and was having health issues. Her Dr suggested the band to her and referred her to a surgeon. 1 month later she was banded. She has now lost 55kgs in 3 yrs but really knew nothing going in. I dont think she is dumb or lazy. I think she was desperate and she was told this band could save her life so she went for it. Whether or not people research by means they dont have the facilities, they may be a little slow...hey there are a million reasons, but I truely believe they arent dumb or lazy. It all comes down to desperation. Where we were all in theposition to research and find support, some arent and I dont think they should be so openly criticised for it. Just my 2cents as well.
