  1. Wow, I am not sure what you should do, but I know I would be getting a little unfill ASAP. You need to be able to get fluids down or you will dehydrate. Good Luck
  2. Thanks for replying. Going for the 6th fill tomorrow.
  3. I was banded on 4th April this year. I have had 5 fills in an 10mls band taking me up to 7.5mls. I have restriction after my fills for about a week and that is why I have lost any weight at all. I lose about a kilo or 2 in that week and then in the time up till my next fill I put a kilo or so back on. I am really worried I am getting to the max my band can take and I wont have proper restriction longer than the week or so. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone get close to the max fill before reaching good restriction? Also does anyone else have restriction for a week or so after their fills and then it goes away? Is it true that the big bands are suppose to be put in ppl with BMIs over 50? My BMI was around 42 or so when banded so maybe that is why I am having trouble getting restriction?? Oh I dont know....I am just stressing and need some reassurance from ppl who have been through this. Please let me know if you have. Thanks
  4. Hiya I am in NSW Australia too. Do you ever go to the Ozband site? Hope to talk to you more.
  5. I have the same band as you. I felt nice restriction while the swelling was going down after the op. After that I was hungry all the time again. I had to wait about 5 weeks to have my first fill which was 1.5ml. Dr had also put 2.5ml in during the surgery. I have now had 5 fills and have 7.5ml in. I feel pretty good restriction now. I think I could use another fill but I am not going to until I get this chewing and eating slowly down pat. I am gettin gblockages too much on things I shouldnt be...so i am going teach myself to slow down and chew before I get anymore fill. Good Luck!
  6. Thats great news. I know how motivating someone saying you have lost weight can be...well actually I dont. Noone has really said anyting yet. I wish they would ...it spurs me on hearing it. Good Luck!
  7. Hi Guys, I had my 5th fill last Thursday taking me up to 7.5 ml in the big band. Well I can say I have restriction. It is so great. I have lost 3kg since then. I hope it lasts. Just remember it will come. We take longer and more fills with the big band, but lemme tell you the restriction will come.
  8. Hiya Aussiegirl, I am from Aussie as well. I am in NSw near Sydney. i am also a member of Ozband. i am not sure if you have joined but we have some people from tassie as well. I was banded on the 4th April this year and I had all the tests done. I was paying privately so I dont think it was for the health fund either. i had the VG big band put in and currently have 7.5 mls. I am only just starting to feel some restriction. I have lost 15kg. As another pp stated there is going to be a conference in Canberra. Heaps of the lap bandeds from ozband are going, myself included. Here is the website addy. http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl50pe/ Hope to talk to you more.
  9. Daisydoodle, I have the larger band and had my 5th fill this week. I have pretty good restriction now, but up until then I had none at all. Dont be disheartened, a couple more fills and you will be fine. Im lucky my Dr lets me come in each week until I have restriction.

I had it really bad. I went to the chemist and they gave me this stuff I had to put on my tongue a couple of times a day. It went within in a day or 2.
  11. Hi I was banded 4th April this year and have had 3 fills taking me up to 6mls in an 11ml band. My question is how many of you with the bigger bands have found it hard to get restriction. I never imagined when i was researching etc that I would end up with so much in my band before it kicked in. Also after the lst fill, I have a huge bruise that hurts a bit...should we bruise after a fill? Thanks
  12. I dont know what I was worried about. I felt no pain whatsoever. It felt funny when he pulled the needle out but I never felt any pain. I already feel some restriction from it. Will this last or does it feel tighter and gradually loosen up over the next couple of days? He put 1.5ml in, plus he put some in when I had the op so...I think it is up to 3.5ml in a 10 or 11ml Vanguard. He said I can come in each week till I find the restriction I need. Kel
  13. Hi I just wanted to introduce myself. I was banded 4th April in NSW Australia. I stayed in hospital overnight and went home the next day. I went through some depression the next few days wondering what I had done to myself but soon got over that. I also gave up smoking the day I went in for surgery, so that has been hard also. After about a week I woke one morning and felt really hungry, from then I have had no restriction. I have really had to control myself to not totally binge. I am going to see my DR on Thursday for a fill, i really hope it helps me a bit in keeping the food demons at bay. Anyway I hope to see you all around more, I love this forum and wish I had discovered when I was first researching.
  14. I was thinking about this myself the other day. There was a few things I had wished I had known, although none of them would have stopped me getting this procedure done. Unbelieveable gas from both ends :"> How bad the pain was for the first couple of weeks after surgery How hungry I was going to be after the swelling subsided How much I am stressing about every little thing to do with this op...eg eating too much, every little niggly pain, have I caused my band to slip, did my port flip and it goes on and on Again I say I am still only a newbie but I knowing what I know now I still would have had the procedure done in a second.
  15. Thanks guys, Delarla I have sat here reading through 100s and 100s of posts and I think I am up to date on what you had/are going through. you have had a rough trot. Heres hoping you win the lotto or something and can get things back to normal. Again thanks for the replies, I will get Dr to check on Thurs and see what it is.
  16. What ended up happening with the pea lump. I have been searching and googling all night about this and finally found this thread. I was banded 4 weeks ago and have had pain in the port area the whole time. The port has always been close to the skin too. Today I discovered a hard pea lump on top of the port which moves around when I push on it. Does anyone know what this could be or Delarla what did yours end up being? Also I am due for a fill on Thurs will this stop me being able to get a fill. Thanks Kel 4/4/05
