Post Op Thrush

I was banded last Tuesday, and in the past couple of days I've developed some oral thrush. I'm assuming that it's because of antibiotics they gave me during surgery....

What a great time to have a three day weekend!!

Has anyone else had this happen?

Are you sure it is thrush? The reason I ask is because when I was on the liquid phase post op, I got a horrible looking white film on my tounge from just liquids. I went to my PCP thinking it was thrush and it was not. All the liquids made me have a horrible taste in my mouth aswell as the film on my tounge.

hi

I had the same thing.Thought it was thrush so I bought some mycostatin and voila, one day later it was gone......might not have been thrush but the medicine surely worked....

Have a nice day

Thrush is very common due to antibiotics. I had the joy of a yeast infection (sorry...tmi). I forgot to have the doctor prescribe Diflucan to ward off the infection.

I would call your surgeon. Forget the three day weekend. Someone is on-call and they can prescribe you meds or give you advice.

Hang in there.
