I took pounded thin pork chops and seasoned them with cumin, Mexican oregano, salt, pepper, garlic granules and awarded them off in a little extra virgin olive oil. I topped it with tostitos salsa and Mexican blend low fat cheese and browned it under the broiler. I topped it with a salad of kumato ( the brown Tomato ) you can use regular tomato as well, scallions, and black olive. I dressed it with some fresh lime juice and salt.

I would pack a cooler with Protein Drinks, yogurt, cottage cheese and try to stay health if you stop. Try to eat what you have already tried, I wouldn't want to be far from home and have something that did not agree with me!

For a quick dinner I did one of those microwavable breasts in gravy (like Tyson or Hormel and yes I know they are terrible for you!) at 3-4 weeks and had no problems whatsoever. Just shredded it and kept it moist. I think a rotisserie chicken would go down well to because it is moist. I like shredding it - feels like you are eating more and it's easier to take smaller bites.
    Good luck!

That is what all the education I have received has said, as of day 30 I have lost 33lbs...we shall see what the next 60 shall prove (I am also adhering to the VERY strict meal and exercise planner provided by the weight loss clinic, in addition to ensuring FULL Protein and Water intake...)

    Italian Turkey Spinach Bake
Lightly oil a 2 Qt. casserole dish. Saute 1 med. finely chopped onion in 2 t. olive oil. Add 1 16 oz. bag frozen chopped spinach. Season w/ salt & pepper. Add chopped turkey meat balls (I used 1 16 oz. bag Trader Joe's Fully Cooked Turkey Meatballs). Heat through and taste for seasoning. Spread mixture in the bottom of the casserole. In small bowl mix 1 15 oz. container part skim Riccotta cheese with 1 egg, ground black pepper, and some chopped fresh basil. Dollop Riccotta mixture over spinach mixture in casserole dish. Spread with Pasta Sauce to your liking (I use 12 oz. Muir Glen Organic Tomato Basil). Sprinkle with 8 oz. shredded Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese. Bake in a 375 oven for 30 minutes or until top is brown oozy cheesy goodness. Let sit for 10 minutes or so to solidify. If you enjoy Italian food, you will love this. For friends or family members who are non-WLS people, you could add a side of Pasta and a green salad and everyone would be good to go!

I agree with all the others and would like to add that one of my major concerns with drinking after rny is the increases risk of ulcers. I had pretty bad gerd before rny and I'm betting lots of you all did too. Its not worth it to me to get sloppy drunk from a drink, possibly dump or cause liver damage or ulcers. Maybe after a few months will have one small drink on special occasions but not ready yet.

BTW I am not trying to lecture anyone or to tell them not to drink. Just to let you know that as an RNY patient you will not handle alcohol the same as before and it can be more dangerous and serious for you to drink. Just wanted to suggest that you do a bit of research prior to drinking to ensure your health and safety. Ok I was just a afraid I came off as if I was lecturing LOL.

I had for dinner last night. If you drain and rinse them thoroughly and mix with spices and stir fry with soy sauce and meat or veggies they will take on the flavors you mix them with. They are pure tofu and for someone who loves Pasta they are an adaquate replacement at 20 calories a serving. They are very filling but don't think of them as pasta but clearly a substitute. They sell them in places like Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I've never been huge on pasta so they were satisfying to me mixed with broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms and soy sauce. Sometimes I save the seasoning packets from top ramen when my family leaves them and mix with an egg.

Shrimp is an outstanding source of Protein as is turkey, chicken and even extra lean ground beef. There are a lot of tasty variations on turkey and chicken - turkey or chicken sausage, turkey bacon, turkey Jerky, turkey chili (if you add Beans that's another source of protein), turkey or chicken burgers, turkey or chicken meatballs, etc. Hard to beat eggs and egg whites are practically pure protein. And you could add practically anything that swims to your list - crab, cod, scallops, trout, salmon, tuna - if it lives in Water I eat it!

EEsMom: I have a similar issue. I don't eat/drink ANY artificial sugar substitutes. In fact I try to stay clear of chemical additives in my food/drink. I'm pre-op, but I ordered Unjury PLAIN Protein Powder and also several different flavors of pure all natural extracts (Silver Cloud brand). I make a 30 gram Protein (5 grams sugar) shake of 1 scoop Unjury, 8 oz. plain soy milk, 1/2 tsp. extract (I love strawberry and banana) and 1 tsp. raw organic Agave Syrup. YUM!
