  1. Lynette...that's perfectly normal too... It doesn't happen to everyone...but it happens to most I think. I weighed 13 lbs more when I came home than I did when I went in. Because I had read about that often where people gained in the hospital due to all the fluids they pump into you...I wasn't worried about it all.
  2. yep it was a good 10 days for me too...tummy just felt all bloated and swollen. It didn't hurt...it was just...there! My docs office told me not to worry about getting in all of my Protein right away that I had to build up to it. They were definitely more concerned with me staying hydrated. It'll get better and easier...you'll see. I think 30g a day at 5 days is great!
  3. I would check with your doctor on what they recommend....I had specific instructions beforehand to take a few sips of milk of magnesia everyday for a while. I did that as long as I could stand it but that stuff really makes me want to hurl so I stopped. I figure if I start having any problems I'll hold my nose and take a swig. But I think I will email my docs office tomorrow and ask what else they recommend I take.
  4. Congrats...glad you're over that hump on the losing side now! WOOHOO!
  5. Probably cause you're still in the fat girl mentality...I think it's a mental thing. Don't have any solutions though other than to maybe do comparison pictures...before to now and I'm sure you'll notice a big difference. And of course we are always our harshest critics!
  6. That's why when the scale didn't move for two days in a row last week I picked it up and refuse to get on it! Ouro..that smoothie you're making sure does seem to have a bunch of calories in it! I'm using the Gladiator powder...180 calories for 2 scoops, 45g of Protein, I use about 1/4 cup of Water in it, about a cup of ice cubes, and one medium banana thrown in. 2 of those a day and I'm at 90 g of protein! My biggest thing is that it seems like I can really take in a lot. I was able to eat a whole container of Dannon greek yogurt with strawberry in it today. I can eat about a whole cup of thin creamed soup at a sitting...maybe 15 minutes or so. I know these are "slider" foods and pass through my sleeve pretty quickly but it's still worrisome.
  7. We're having our annual company crawfish boil next weekend and I plan to LICK the crawfish and suck the juice out of the pincers! LOL Desperate times call for desperate measures!
  8. I wouldn't worry so much about it stopping your weight loss as I would worry that your stomach is not healed enough yet to handle stuff like that. There's a reason we're on liquids, then full liquids, and then mushies/pureed foods and finally moving on to solids. You really need to give your tummy a chance to heal!
  9. That's awesome Russ! Congrats to both of you! What are you guys eating now?
  10. wow...I'm 18 days out today and I can eat a whole cup of creamed Soup at a time. I can drink pretty much like normal. Thicker stuff like greek yogurt I can eat about half to 3/4 of a container at a time. What happens if you eat more than that? Are you feeling full? I'd definitely contact your doctor.
  11. Hey knox...I drink those pretty much every day. The 100 calorie little boxes.
  12. Hey that's a start and it will get easier and easier. How are you feeling?
  13. Hi nan...I'm sorry I don't have any real advice for you...I'm too new to be of much help but I do wish your son and yourself all the best and I admire you for being such a caring and dedicated mom. I would say that I would not advance his diet too quickly...his stomach needs time to heal on the inside and it's probably still quite swollen. If he's hungry perhaps you can give him some sugar free Jello or popsicles to "tide him over". It's hard to say I guess whether he is truly hungry or experiencing "head hunger" or whether it's just leftover habits of eating often...the routine of spoon to mouth or what not. Good luck to both of you!
  14. It looks like you've been given tons of good information so I'll only add that you couldn't PAY me enough money to have the band. NO WAY NO HOW! I'd rather have stayed fat than to subject myself to that thing.
  15. Welcome and I hope the process is a quick one for you. Waiting pre-op is one of the hardest parts!
  16. Hey there, I'm pretty new at this myself so I don't have any wonderfully creative ideas for you but can you get Protein powders and what not? I have several different brands and I mix them all with Water. I cannot tolerate isopure...I think it's disgusting. I've taken to calling it isopuke...picked that up from tiffykins! lol Also do they sell the Hood Carb Countdown Milk where you live? I use that to mix in my creamed soups for added protein as well. Also greek yogurt has a lot of protein in it. What was your surgery date?
  17. I got on the scale tuesday and was down a lb from Monday. I got on the scale wednesday and didn't lose anything. I got on the scale thursday and didn't lose anything. I quit getting on the scale. LOL
  18. I've always been one who swells up and retains Fluid around that time of the month. Like my rings are tighter, my ankles are a little swollen, and my back starts killing me. So I'm wondering if it's ok to take stuff like Midol or Pamprin to help with that and if not....can we take a diuretic? Also, did you experience more hunger during that time? I have no idea if it's related or not but I've been really experiencing hunger the past couple of days. Thanks girls!
  19. My incisions are still sore at times.
  20. Good for you..and I couldn't agree with you more. Loving ourselves is very important.
  21. I've always loved barbeque pork rinds...yummy. Can't wait until I have them! How far out were you when you started having them?
  22. I don't have much to add...but I just wanna give everybody a big fat hug! **hugs**
  23. I hope your sugery went well! Can't wait to see an update from you!
