Well Here Goes.....
Congrats on finding a surgeon and welcome! Those post-op parameters sure are different! 100g of carbs?? wow. My nut says 50 per day but I'm going to try to stay more like around 30. We'll see!

jacks home, after surgery
ouro..one tip they gave me was to get Mylicon (symethicone) drops and put a few in the smoothie after you mix it....should help with that foam or air that gets mixed in when you shake it up. I'm so jealous of you all you guys who can have all these good things like egg, and bananas. I can't even mix my shakes with milk yet!

Was Feeling Great...at first =0(
Oh no..that sounds horrible! I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Please follow your gut instinct though and if you start feeling really weak or dehydrated...go to the ER...let them give you some fluids to hydrate you.

jacks home, after surgery
Hey Jack! So glad you're home now and doing better. And holy crap..you can have all that stuff already?

Not Happy.
I make a conscious decision to not get on my scale everyday because I don't want to be disappointed or get discouraged. I had my surgery on the 28th and when I went for my post op on the 4th..I had lost 8 lbs. I thought it was OK especially since I came home from the hospital weighing 13 lbs more than I did when I went in. But then 2 local girls I had met who had surgery right around me lost a lot more than me.. I absolutely refuse to let that get me down. Neither of them had pre-op diets....whereas I had pretty much been dieting for like 5 weeks before my surgery and had lost 24 lbs.

Not Happy.
17 lbs in three weeks?? You damned sure are losing! Girl! That's fabulous!

Just a little advice.
The PA told me to stop taking mine when I went for my post op because I told her I was feeling fine. I didn't take it the next day but took it yesterday. Didn't take it today...and am kind of playing it by ear. If I start feeling like I need it...I will definitely start taking it again. I have noticed I have felt a bit more bloated I guess today..not sure if it's related at all...but I haven't had any burning or anything. I don't have any experience with acid reflux so not sure what all the symptoms are.

Day 4 of pre-op liquids
I'm 10 days out and I still have very dry mouth and yuck breath. LOL I find the protein shakes really dry my mouth too...so I sip on my water while drinking them

The hardest part ISN'T the food....
I just wanted to offer everybody a hug! ***hugs***

Ugh...
I had excruciating pain in my calves starting the day I came home from the hospital and it lasted 3-4 days...it hurt to stand up and to walk. BAD. At first I was scared it might be a blood clot..I did call my doctor and talk to him about it. then it just went away...

Am I cheating?
I don't know if you are ruining it but I don't think those are the right things to eat during soft foods phase. Course I'm not there yet...but the vets I'm sure will be along with some excellent advice.
-
Ugh...
Hang in there my friend....it will get better and you'll be amazed at how quickly it gets better. Keep walking..and definitely do the breathing exercises.

Finally posting a message
Well I lied...I did have to have an EKG and a chest x-ray..but not until my pre-op appt. at the hospital a few days before my surgery. Everything was already scheduled and paid for at that point.

In Kind of a Funny Place on the Journey...
Holy crap! You ride your bike over 70 miles a week? Ok, you're my idol! wowow...just wow. As for this phase..the only thing I can think of is distraction. When you catch yourself doing it, try to focus on something else. Maybe take up a new hobby. Transfer a bad addiction to maybe a more productive or healthy one.

Worried about post op diet
My surgery was last wednesday and I just signed up at myfitnesspal and put in what I had today. I've had 415 calories, 27 g carbs, and 54 g of Protein. I have no idea how it's going to work when I progress my diet. It's rather confusing.

What website?
awesome..thanks both of you..I'm going to go and check it out.

What website?
I know you guys have posted links a million times....I should have bookmarked them or something. But what are the websites that you all use to keep track of what you eat daily and do they have the different Protein powders on there too or do you have to enter the nutritional information? Thanks!

I've been approved by the doc!
Congrats...it will be here before you know it!

Finally posting a message
Welcome...I'm glad you decided to quit lurking and start posting! Congratulations on getting your date. I hope too for you that your diabetes is short lived. I didn't have to have any pre-op scans of any kind. Do you have any other health problems or history that would have prompted this?

Benefiber....UGH!!!
Anything has to be better than Milk of Magnesia...eewwww I was told to take a few sips of that each day post op and I did it for like 3 days but each time it was worse and worse and I nearly puked it up so forget it..not doing it. I need an alternative!
