  1. I'm on my 7th day of the pre op diet. It's hard at first but as the days go by it gets easier. I actually weighed myself today and I've lost 6 pounds. Some might not think that is much but I can't tell you the last time I've lost any weight. So after my surgery as long as I follow the rules I'm gonna lose the weight and become healthy.
  2. Wow I know you felt terrible. I pray I don't have that problem. We're you allowed to take stool softeners?
  3. Wow glad everything went well. Now for your new beginning.
  4. I didn't have surgery yet. I don't have a problem telling people but in your case it's nobody's business how you lost it. I would just say I'm watching what I eat and exercising. Which is the truth. Good luck.
  5. Congratulations! I'm from Ewing NJ which isn't far from Philadelphia. My date is April 23rd.
  6. My date is April 23rd. I didn't tell my whole family. I told one of my sisters, my mom, my cousin were like sisters and my boy friend. Everyone has a right to their own opinion that's why I didn't tell many people. I don't need the negativity. At first my boyfriend was against it . He said he loves me just the way I am. I told him if I didn't do this I might not be around for him to love. I am doing this for health reasons not beauty. When they start seeing the weight loss I will tell them then. My support system has been great. I understand your dilemma but you have to think about your health. If you've tried and tried and haven't succeeded you have to do what's right for you. I wish you the best and I hope you make the right decision.
  7. Congrats and welcome to this awesome group. You will find the answers you need here. I have learned so much from this forum. I usually check in atleast three times a day to see what everyone is up to and what else I can learn. I have 8 days before my surgery and I'm ok. If I didn't have all of this information I probably would be crazy by now. Lol. Please keep us updated.
  8. I'm on day six of my pre op diet. It gets easier as the days go by. On day two I felt like I was starving. We can do. Good luck.
  9. Krista our surgery is the same day. When I was told I could have vegetables I was so happy. I'm really not a veggie eater which isn't good but I sure do love them now. Lol. I feel for you. How many days do you have to do the pre op diet. I only have to do it for two weeks.
  10. I have a friend who just had surgery and she swears by ginger tea for the gas. I love peppermint tea but I'm going to get some ginger tea too.
  11. Tor I am excited. I can't wait. Do they give you a prescription for pain medicine when you leave the hospital. I had my gallbladder removed 4years ago. That wasn't too bad. I can tolerate pain unless it's excruciating pain. Oh well ilI deal with that when I get to it.
  12. You can do it. You did it before surgery and you can do it now. I'm on my fifth day of the pre op diet. I didn't think I could do it but I've come too far to quit now. I kept having cravings too but they will pass when you look at the bigger picture. I actually stopped watching so much tv because every commercial in nothing but food. I wish you luck. Quit counting the days that might help.
  13. Tor glad your doing well. And yes all the info on this forum is helpful. There's something everyone is gonna go through and to hear it from someone who has witnessed it is very helpful. My day is approaching which is April 23rd.
  14. This iis my third day on my pre op diet. I'm really struggling. I don't ever seem to get full. Today I had two protein shakes, a cup of cooked green beans, a cup of cooked asparagus, a mixed green salad with oil and vinegar, a cup of petite raw carrots and two bottles of water. I haven't cheated yet but it is very tempting. I'm allowed all sugar free beverages, protein shakes, broth and vegetables. I think I'm just used to snacking and it's in my head. Any suggestions.
  15. I just started my pre op diet yesterday. I only have to do it for two weeks. I can't imagine 28 days. My surgery is also April 23rd.
  16. Wishing you luck. You'll do fine.
  17. Have you tried the Atkins shakes. I think they're pretty good. I started my pre op diet today. I'm allowed protein shakes, broth, Jello and vegetables. Good luck.
  18. Hi Melissa I have my surgery on April 23rd. I start my pre op diet tomorrow.
  19. I think it depends on your insurance. I had a six month wait.
