I want to thank you all for the excellent advice that you have given me. My husband and I went out Friday night and have decided to go to therapy together. We have also scheduled a retroville retreat for couples in crisis next weekend. I have heard that it would be very helpful and there will be no distractions. The weekend starts Friday night and goes until Sunday afternoon. The only problem is I have to start my liquid diet on Sunday for surgery on Monday. Please send prayers! Val

Christinev- You are not alone here. We all have felt the way you do now. I have been approved by the insurance company and will be having the lapband on Aug. 13th. In the packet I too listed the things you did I also included pre-diabetes, high cholestorol and triglycerides. When everything was completed I also wrote a letter to the insurance company a personal letter explaining why I needed the lapband. I included personal and medical information. The insurance company only gets the medical info and does not get to know the person. Although I dont think it was the reason for my approval I think it did have an impact on it. Valerie

KtKt we have faced many problems in the past and things were OK until a few weeks ago and then it has been terrible since. He has been sleeping downstairs on the couch, staying out until 11 3 or4 nights a week ect. Val

You are lucky to have so much support. I have a bad feeling that this may be the straw that breaks our marriage. I don't think he wants me to gain confidence in myself. So now that I am eleven days away from surgery I am very depressed not knowing where our marriage is or where is going to be afterward. Val

I am sorry for what you are going through Texas mom. It just seems that he has been distancing himself from our family since I started this and it makes me so sad. I have stayed with my husband through many things that he has been through and I cant believe he wont be there for me when I need him the most. I have stood by him during his addiction and an affair. I am so glad I have this forum for support. It has been a godsend! Val

My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have two young children together. I started my lapband journey in April when I went to my first informational seminar. He took me but refused to go in and listen to what they had to say. I thought, at the time, it was because he too was overweight and people might judge him and want to know why he wasnt interested in it himself. Since that time until now he has been working out atleast five days a week and watching what he has eaten resulting in a 35 pound weight loss. He said that he will support me through this but he just hasnt. I had to beg him to go take off from work to go to the Bariatic Boot Camp that is required before I have the surgery ( We need to have our support person there with us.) I guess my question is HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS???? Can I do this with the stress that I am under from my marriage? Help:help: Val surgery date Aug 13th

I am also being banded on Aug. 13 and I feel bad for you guys. I do not have to be on liquids until the day before. we will have to keep in touch to see how we are doing. Val

Hi Butterfly they say that it is cause by the gas that they blow the chest cavity with. If it hasnt happend yet it most likely wont. Val

Pauline that is horrible. Have you talked to the surgeon who performed the operation? Can he just reposition it? Valerie

I wonder if most Dr. are using the new one now. I am being banded Aug. 13th but not sure what band he will be using. Val

Oh Princesst that really stinks!! I understand you wanting to switch Dr. now but will that mean you have to do the tests and everything all over again? Call around and check with another Dr.s office. Unfortunately that no matter how good the Dr. is doesnt matter when you have to deal with his staff for scheduling and everything else. My thoughts and prayers are with you I hope everything works out for you. Keep us posted.

Hi BluesByrd- I started the process also in April and I understand that the waiting game is a little frustrating. Did you go through all of the tests and everything?

Hi reconciler- congrats on quitting smoking I imagine that it couldn't have been easy! I thought that it was interesting how you said you felt freedom from not having to worry about it anymore. I imagine it would feel the same with food after a while also a sense of relief that food no longer controls our lives. With the help of the band we are the ones in control!!! Val

MFRANKS the waiting is the hardest part of this whole journey but your right it is closer than I thought. I started cleaning out closets today and really cleaning. You are well on your way so hang in there! Val

Does the band being to tight cause erosion? If not what does?

Hi I have BC/BS NJ (Horizon) I just found out today I was approved! My dr. office sent everything in on Wed. and they said it had been approved since Monday but today is Thursday and I called and asked because no one told me I was approved. Anyway Aug. 13th is my bandday! Val

It is official I am now approved by my insurance company and my date will be on August 13th. Needless to say I am excited beyond words!!! Val
