I weighed 169 lbs when I had surgery. I had a revision to sleeve from my Lapband of 6 years. Today I weigh 161 which puts me 16 lbs from my overall goal and I'm only 2 weeks out. Your body adjusts to where it needs to be and as someone mentioned the less you have to lose the slower it comes off and the harder it is !! You don't have anything to worry about.

Unjury makes a chicken broth with 20 g of Protein in it, it's actually not terrible either. They also have unflavored Protein Powder you can add to anything.

I had the same problem but I threw up when things did not agree with me...11 months out and I still cannot eat beef or pork....Chinese food was the love of my life...Well eating life anyway and now I cannot tolerate it at all.....There are so many other things that I have tried that does so I do not worry...As you test things and they don't agree with you, leave them alone for now..Try again later in a month or so..Don't forget you are still healing and your tiny stomach is healing....K

Band07 got a reaction from rredrruby87 in How long was everyone out of work?
I had surgery Friday at noon and went back on the Tuesday. It wasnt too bad, I was sore and exhausted that night but still managed to finish out the week. I also had my lap band of 6 years removed at the same time, the only place Iv had pain has been where they removed my port.

I had my surgery Friday and so far so good. I even went back to work yesterday. I was banded for 6 years and I was not easy on my band!! I was worried the shape it would be in and it did take a little longer to remove but my doc was very happy overall with how things went. Now 4 weeks Of liquids hope things go great for u as well !

I will only be taking a week off when I get sleeved. I missed a LOT of work earlier this year due to a DVT. The sleeve is to get my weight down so that history hopefully doesn't repeat itself. My employer is being cool about it, understanding why I need to do this. But at the same time I do not want to push it at all. I have a desk job so I should be ok. I pray for no complications and an easy recovery. ( Easy being relative of course) I hope you do ok today. Just get plenty of rest when you get home!

I could honestly probably use one more day but I don't have a choice. So after having by band removal and sleeve in one procedure Friday afternoon I'm heading back to work today. Pain is very mild but still some issues with gas and swelling. Overall recovery for me has been pretty easy, I hope others out there have similar experiences especially if work Is an issue.

I felt hungry, after the test to make sure there were no leaks a few sips of Soup and apple sauce and i was happy. I too didn't need any pain meds (used gasx for 3 days though - THAT was not a joyful feeling *l*).
I am 30 days out now (down about 24 pounds). I "nibble" throughout the day - I only want a few bites or rather NEED only a few bites.I am back to eating normal foods but finding as time goes on I just eat because i have a knawing in my stomach and I walk 1 hr - 2 hrs a day on my treadmill (i break it up into 3-4 sessions). I juice 2x a day and it takes me all day to finish off 2 glasses. I did have "head" hunger the first week while on Clear liquids. I was drinking a cup of broth every hour it seemed. I don't like processed foods so I did without the Jello and Protein shakes. But I am doing well on vegetarian fare. Since I can eat Beans now and I do the green smoothies and juices I feel much better.
    Good Journey!

Band07 reacted to marfar7 in Goodbye band hello sleeve ! So much anxiety ! Surgery tomorrow !
I felt the same way about my band. Was grateful that I lost 104 lbs with it but also ungrateful for all the misery it caused (slip). My revision was worse than my band surgery. Dr told me it would be more painful cuz it took him an extra 30 mins to DIG my band outa my stomach. It had embedded in there. So I think that was the reason for the post op pain. I took my liquid Vicodin for 12 days. My lapband was easy peasy compared.
So glad I did it tho. Haven't vomited but once (my fault) since being sleeved 10 weeks ago. Vomited almost everyday with my band. Good luck!

6 yrs 1 month and 16 days ago you changed my life and I want to thank you for that. I would have never got to where I am without you. We've had a good run of it though as with any relationship we've had our ups and downs. You've been my best friend and my worst enemy but I've never once regretted knowing you. its bittersweet but this love/hate relationship is not working for me anymore. Tomorrow we must part ways though please don't take it personally. Ill never forget all you've done for me but I have to do what's right for me and my health. Goodbye old friend. Hello new friend ...I'm hoping that Iv made the right decision and anxious to start a new chapter.. Surgery tomorrow at 12:30 ????????????

I think the first step to life long change is to realize you have a problem with food. Congrats you have completed that first step. For any WLS to work, you have to have a handle on your food issues. Understanding why you eat to excess, why you sabotaged your band and how you cope with emotions if you can't use food to numb are important things to get clear before taking the next step. Have you tried any counseling or other means to understand your relationship with food? Any WLS is a tool and can be "worked around" once you heal from surgery. If you don't know why you are making bad food choices, then your likelihood of being successful is reduced. There are some good books and online courses to also help you get a handle on your food issues. Good luck to you, I hope you find the success you are looking for and deserve!

I'm not yet sleeved but I did maintain a nearly 100 lb weight loss for the last 6 years with my lap band and never once wrote anything down. In fact I refuse to live my life that way. Focus on health and your relationship with food and look into why you eat and not just what you eat and find what works best for you and you will be fine

It gets better. For me, I had to learn to quit eating after a very small amount of food--before I feel full. If I start to feel full, it's too late and I'll start to feel "more than full" soon after, so I have to estimate and just take a few bites.
For me, this is tricky, because I got to be a big guy by eating a LOT more than "a few" bites per meal. So it's a huge change from eating like it's the end of the world vs. eating a tiny little bit of food each time I eat.
On the other hand, when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw a number I haven't seen in years, the "rough moments" were totally worth it! I'm shrinking!!! You will too!!!

Could be worse, you could have my surgeon - 4 weeks liquids, 4 weeks purees, and 4 MONTHS of soft food!
Seriously though, hang in there, you will get through it and it will be fine. And you will be chewing -- even those soft foods you need to chew a lot!
