  1. It gets better. Your stomach is healing from being cut open. I am 3 weeks out. It hurts now if I take to big of a gulp of liquid or eat a little to much, but it is a different kind of pain. Hang in there it gets much better!
  2. My date was 3/6. Dr Seger in San Antonio. Great doc!
  3. I told people at work. I work in a call center, several have had it and many are overweight. Nobody has been negative yet, very supportive. I don't know what they may say behind my back but I could really care less. I did this for me and it is my life and nobody else's. Apart from work I only told my, son, daughter and one close friend. The ones I really did not tell we're my ex in laws whom I still see a lot. They would be very jealous and negative.
  4. I am curious to know what the difference is in drinking say Crystal Light or Coke Zero? I am talking about the chemicals and sweeteners in them, not the carbonation. Any idea?
  5. Same here, my surgery was 3/6. I am supposed to eat proteins. I don't have to count calories or watch fat and can only have 30 or less carbs a day, basically like Atkins. I went through BMI of Texas and they seem to have a high success rate, so I guess I will just stick to the plan. After I hit goal the nut said she will add more carbs weekly until I show a gain. I am good with it so far.
  6. I am in. Highest WT 242 Surgery date was 3/6 WT:216 CW:200.5 June 21st I would like to be at 165
  7. It seems that everyone gets different instructions on what diet you follow once you can eat. BMI of Texas instructs that you do not count calories, only carbs. No more than 30 grams of carbs a day until you reach goal weight, then they will slowly add in more carbs to see how many your body can tolerate without a gain. Basically you can eat all the protein you want (which of course is not much) and non starch veggies. I am totally okay with this though. Anyone get anything different?
  8. Cool, I will definitely try this, thanks:)
  9. Wow! What a difference! You look great!
  10. Definitely see the difference in your face! Great job!
  11. I am 19 days out and have lost 14 pounds after the surgery, 19 total with the 5 I lost pre-op. I have about 85 total to lose. Of course it would be awesome to have lost like 30 by now, but I will take what I can get LOL. I know I will get there eventually and hopefully won't have as much lose skin. You are doing great! Keep it up!
  12. Health Wise protein drinks are on the clear liquids diet, 40 grams protein. I buy them at the docs office but you can buy them online as well. I am now eating soft moist foods but still add one of those in with my liquids so I can get all my protein.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement!
  14. I was told no more than 30 grams of carbs a day until you meet goal then they will be slowing added in until you have a gain. Everyone loses at a different pace also. But 12 pounds is not bad at all in a little over 2 weeks. I have lost 17 and 5 was pre op. I went to the doc today they said that it was a good amount ( my starting BMI was 38.1) The doctor also said I should lose another 15-20 by my next appt on April 19th. I know it can be discouraging though. I have gained and lost the same pound for the last week but I know it will get better and we will be skinny in no time! Keep up the good work:)
  15. I have been losing ang aging the same pound for the last 5 days! I am not even eating solid food yet and getting like 450-500 call a day. How is this even possible?
  16. Hello all! I turned 49 in Dec.I joined the 40s group also, but I guess 50 is closer to my age LOL! I was sleeved on March 6th, down 17 lbs (5) pre-op. I had a complete hysterectomy at 28 so basically went through forced menopause then, never any problems though thank God! I have 2 great kids 28 and 22. 50 is going to be my year to be fabulous! Returning to work 3/25.
  17. Hello all! I turned 49 in Dec. I have 2 great kids, 28 and 22. I vowed to be a slim and healthy 50! Sleeved on 3/6 and down 17 (5) was pre-op
  18. Gladiator protein powder from Smoothie King. 1 serving = 180 cal,45 grams protein and 2 carbs. Chocolate flavor, I mix it with unsweetened almond milk, Splenda, decaf Nescafé it is really pretty tasty and it is 45 grams protein. I mix it all in the blender with a little ice.
