  1. Thank you thank you thank you!!
  2. I feel your pain...in my office I'm youngest (until recently), one of only a small handfull of women, and don't report directly to the groups I support. I have no choice but hold it together. It can be tough, but you know what...you have to let it out. We all have that fine line and once crossed, you have to let it out. Better to cry than throw a full out tantrum (which I've seen the guys do from time to time around here). You don't have to always be "together". It's okay to let yourself be human. Just think...the world didn't end because you cried at your desk. What I've found is that I need to get sucked into something else when I get stressed. For example, I will walk to another location in the building, or read something quick on my cell phone, or heck, come to this site. Once you find your happy place/activity...keep falling back on that. Just know, that the world won't end if you're human and experience human emotions.
  3. You'll have to just go through this. I went through this at about 7 or 8 weeks. I was so angry, iritated, and then sad. Over and over again. At first I tried to ignore the feelings and finally I just had to embrace that is how I was feeling and let the feelings happen. You seem like the type that is a "giver" and takes care of others. I know from experience that we often give others the type of space and forgiveness we don't give ourselves. Allow yourself to not feel guilty or bothered or rushed by how you're feeling. Until you process all that you're feeling you'll just keep going through the emotions. So many hugs to you!! BTW, I also realized my reactions to situations changed. It used to be when I felt threatened (emotionally not so much physcially), competition, or nervous I would instantly feel my survival mode kick in and then feel somewhat stronger/empowered. Now, when in these situations I shake. Literally, I get tremmors. Not sure why that is, but I literally feel a sense of panic come over me. I make myself power through it but I've had to be really careful with what I watch and around people who give off a certain vibe. I hope that changes soon because I feel really vulnerable right now.

Great job!! Congrats on the size 8's!
  5. Stalls are horrible. Initially (before I saw inches coming off), I thought I MUST be doing something wrong. Had to be, why else would I not lose weight for so long. I think stalls are so bad because you can know (logically) you're doing everything "right" but emotionally you "feel" there has to be something you're doing wrong. Stalls create this epic battle between your emotions and your logic.
  6. Hold tight the scale will move. I've been stalled for 8 of my 10 weeks but like you the inches are coming off. People still notice I'm losing (need to hear that since I've been stalled so long). Hugs to you and congrats on getting out there and starting your softball team!

Excellent...good for you. You made a lot of healthy choices.
  9. I was thinking sugar/carb detox. Also check the ingredients, maybe you have some sort of issue with one of the ingredients. Are these all the same shakes?
  10. Yes, it's amazing how the body works. I had the fuzzy brain too. Got back to work and couldn't remember anything from minute to minute. It was the pits, but it will go away. Hang in there. Hugs to you!
  11. So sorry, I'm praying everything works out for you!
  12. Not sure how much you have to lose, but there is a blog 300poundsdown.com where the writer talks about how much pain she was in prior to surgery. It is a good read and will help you realize, you're not alone in having physial pain. Maybe her story will give you some encouragement on this hard day.
  13. Hopefully you'll be lucky like some of us and the sleeve will change your tastebuds. During my 1 year pre-op I stopped eating all sugar and foods containing refined sugar. Now as a post-op, my tastes have changed and I have ZERO desire to eat any sugar. I even had someone put a slice of cake with double icing (which I used to LOVE) in front of me and I just let it sit there. Truth be told, the smell was even too sweet. No desire at all. I hope it remains this way.

I literally was in a stall for about 4 weeks. I am 7 weeks post-op with almost 200 lbs to lose. I read a post by Cheri where she said how she had stalls of up to 9 weeks more than once. I figured okay I won't complain until I hit a 10 week stall. By staying positive and not getting upset, it kept my very Type A personality in check. I woke up yesterday to a loss of 5 lbs. and today down another 4 lbs. So I figured I'd just embrace my slow losses and stalls.
  15. Hang in there and if you need the meds, don't think twice about taking them. Sending hugs your way!
  16. I hadn't seen this before. Thanks for posting.
  17. My period ended a few days before surgery and then I woke up the day after surgery with it again. Stayed for another 2 weeks. The only upside is that I hurt so bad from my complications that I never noticed any cramps. That was my silver lining.
  18. I mentioned in my last blog post that I was visiting my Nut earlier this week. I'm happy to report I'm down 5 lbs. I've officially met my required (6 month) weight loss goal. Now I have to stay under this weight for another month to be submitted for approval. After I'm submitted for approval, I can then start the long process of waiting for a date. My surgeon is wayyy backed up, so I am not expecting to have surgery until probably this summer. The good news with that is I will have worked up even more leave so I can stay out longer during recovery. I'm shooting for 3 weeks at least with 4 weeks being the most. That's how I'm managing to keep the frustration (of this long process) down. I'm just glad I have made this much progress. Now here's to a loss during December...holidays and all.
  19. Today I have my 5th month apt (out of my 6 month pre-op process). I am more than nervous. I didn't over do it on Thanksgiving but still I worry I have not lost enough weight. I read a blog post that said people really only gain about 5 lbs. over the holidays but most of us tend to think we gained more. That's me. I am so worried that I gained and/or didn't lose enough to qualify. I mean I have 1 more month before I can be submitted for approval and well Christmas is in that month. I'm trying not to stress out (I'm known to do that around highly important events). I also have to submit my food diary, questionnaire (why I want surgery and what my lifestyle is like), 1 day of meals post-op, and 1 day worth of meals during the puree stage. Looking back, this has been a long frustrating journey. Every time I am ready to have a pitty party or get frustrated I think about the blog 300poundsdown.com. Holly is a true inspiration. She is someone who has a story to tell. While sure our stories and challenges are different, I can count on her posts to help me realize that no matter where you start, it is worth it to keep going to goal. One thing about me...I've never been a crier (at least not a sappy one - pain sure okay). I watch movies and when the person dies, falls in love, rides off into the sunset...yup I'm in the wow, s/he can act camp. But cry and feel a sudden sense of loss...nope, it is just not me. Same goes when reading high charged emotional books, stories, etc. That being said, I have to say, I've never met Holly but feel like I know her. Her posts can bring anyone (yes even me) to tears. Her determination and sheer positivity is amazing. Her blog is my go-to when I'm ready to get down on myself for not losing enough, making a bad choice, thinking of giving up, not having progressed in this process enough, etc. I realized a few minutes ago when reading her post over lunch that I have made her my unofficial WLS hero. She will never know this but I say this to encourage anyone else out there that feels frustrated during this pre-op process: Go on over to Holly's site and check out her story. You'll find she will really inspire you to just keep on going.
  20. My comment got all loopy... I think I'll look online and see what tricks I can find for increasing the desire to work out. I did see a nice barre workout on YouTube. @Catherine, good job about the back door trick. I feel the same way about winter and YES it is tough to work out in the cold weather. I walk to work (also take public transit) but it is not enough to really get a good workout.
  21. Congrats on being on the way! Don't stress over what's not done. Just get what you can done and the rest, just has to wait. Good luck to you.

Yes, it sucks to think things are a go and then find out, someone else messed up. Keep going, in the long run, the extra days/weeks won't matter. Right now, you have a lot on your plate so sure it is a tough spot. Don't let up on everyone and make sure they send, document, etc. everything so that you don't find this happening again. Best wishes to you.
  23. Good luck...I so much like to see real people who have had success with this surgery and my Surgeon. Like Catherine said, you are helping others save their lives.
  24. This past week was wonderful. I was able to spend much needed time with my family (worked from home multiple days), enjoy a nice long weekend, and just de-stress. I did pretty good eating over the holiday. I was pretty proud of myself. I decided to view the food as "not going anywhere" rather than my "last hurrah". This made all the difference in the world. It helped me to realize just because I'm getting sleeved doesn't mean I will never eat some of the foods I enjoy again. I'm sure I won't be disappointed at my next weigh-in. I have about a week to get ready. We'll see what the scale holds.
