I have been in and out all day resting and groggy. Had about five different meds put in iv two pain kinds, one for nausea ect. the nurses mostly speak spanish and know a few works but jessica and jesus are english one works day/ one nights. the hosptial is dated but sufficent and i am comfortable. The iv was quick, the sleep dr had me comfortable before i left the room and i remember nothing until waking up in my room in a bit of pain since then they have given me somthing every 3-4 hours. I used a bed pain at first then was able to get to the bathroom on my own. Dr alvarez did call my husband after surgery to let him know i was ok, i was to tired to make a call.I have been awake all night but they said they prefer that first night to be like that so we can tell them how we are feeling. tommorrow they will give me sleep meds. I am very please so far, bored. There are some english channels on the tv. I havent walk much yet this will be my focus today I havent had a lot of gas though. I will get ice chios today and have only Water to wash my mouth out with and spit. I think im on iv bag 3 or 4 for fluids and I do not feel really hungry. Im excited about the ice chips though. Dr rosales dr alvarez assistant did come in and check on me as well as alvarez. I guess they came after surgery but I was out of it. The nurses take vitals every few hours. Other then that the free internet was easy to use and the holiday inn express was clean. Rosie is very down to earth and had a nice drive with her and everyone else is very approachable and helpful if you need it. I will be walking today as much a s possible. I just got Fluid bag four...so far I am very good and I will share the rest of the story later when i get home. I hope everyone is doing well...So happy to be on the post side! Take Care

This week I will have my one year surgiversary!! It seems like just a few months rather than a year!
Please don't get put out with me when I tell you that the decision to be sleeved was absolutely the hardest part - everything else has been really easy since. I am fully aware my experience has been a blessed one! I was sleeved on March 14 of 2012, and hit goal around New Years. I am maintaining easily and can eat almost anything I want.
I feel so much better, I get around so much better, I walk quickly, I sleep well. I am just so happy! I truly feel 30 years younger in one year's time. I have regained my interest in girly stuff such as clothes, makeup, hair, whereas before I just put on the next old black thing in my closet and stumped out the door ugly!
I wanted to share my success story so that those in the research stage can know that while some sleevers have problems, other sleevers sail through. I was lucky to be a Sleeve Sailor!
Thanks for all the help and support y'all have been!!
    BTW, that's from a size 3X to a size M/12.

funinthesun00 got a reaction from Success2013 in January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?
I have only lost 22lbs since surgery on 1/18. I had lost quite a bit (26 lbs) in the months prior to surgery. I tend to lose anywhere from 1 to 2.5 pounds per week. I am exercising 3-4 days a week and eating anywhere from 500-900 calories per day. The good news is I am now overweight and not obese. Recovery has been very easy and I am tolerating all foods well. Still, I am in the "slow losers" category. It is frustrating but I am really trying to look at the big picture, and not worry so much about what the scale says day to day- even though it's hard.

I always liked seeing photos pre op...hell I still like to see them now. So here you go!
I just under 9 months out and down 172 lbs (about 20ish pre op). I follow the 600 -800 calories/+60 protein/+64 oz fluid/-40 carbs. I haven't really exercised and maybe walk a couple of miles a week. I am overall more active and I do plan on starting regular exercise soon. I have had off plan days but I can count the number of "cheats" on both hands. I wanted to get to a normal bmi quickly and this is what has worked for me. I am a few pounds away from "normal" and want to lose about another 20. Enjoy!

I was just getting around after my 9 am surgery. The minute I woke up, I thought (and said out loud) what in the heck did I just do to myself? I was in so much pain and so so thirsty. A friend had told me - even if you don't feel like it - get up and walk. That's what I did, almost non stop. I was ready to feel better and go home. Each day got easier and easier, I tracked everything I put in my mouth. Everything. It made me feel like I had some control over what I was going through.
Over time I started getting compliments, you look great or wow you've lost some weight. I look back now and yes, I had lost weight. What I think was so noticeable though was I was smiling - a lot. I didn't ever see my self as unhappy pre-surgery, but I was. I can admit it now. How could I not be? Who is happy with themselves at 368 pounds??
Today I still believe - 1 year later that I made the absolute best decision of my life. Not because I can shop at any store (but I can and its fun!!!) or that I don't have to worry about how the chairs will be wherever I go. It's because I feel great and I'm healthy. I'm happy and I am becoming the person I've always wanted to be. I wouldn't change a thing.
    HW: 368

    Height: 5'6
    Today: 204

You know what you have done? you took a very
Big, and in the beginning scary and painful step to a happier and healthier life!
You are only a few days out from a very major surgery! Yes it's done laparoscopically but it is still MAJOR surgery! Right now you need to give yourself time to heal..
Are you walking? Do so, at least 10 minutes out of every hour.
And try and keep up the Fluid intake, I know it's hard but you need to do it.
And know that having days like this (feeling down) is a very normal thing for all of us. you are going through lots of changes and its hard! But it's what we signed up for. And it will all be worth it in a couple of months when the pain is a distant memory and you are feeling (and looking) great!

I am 4 weeks out today. I feel great! No problems to speak of. I am down 15.2 lbs since surgery and 41.2 from my highest weight. I know 15.2 lbs doesn't seem like much, but if my goal weight is 120lbs, then I have lost 25% of my excess weight, so I think I'm doing pretty good.

A year ago today, I was laying in a hospital bed wondering if I made the right decision. I cried... I cried right before they put me under. I cried when it was over. I was so mad at myself for letting it get that far. I was sad and disappointed. I was also so scared. Scared that it wouldn't work. And here I am. A year later. Little ol' me. Wearing a size small. A SMALL!!! Pinch me!!! I must be dreaming!!!
    Happy one year to me!!!

funinthesun00 reacted to EnigmaInKY in Empowered on Valentine's Day!
I've been talking about potato skins (and all things appetizer) since the week of my surgery. The past two weeks the object of my desire has been a chocolate brownie with chocolate frosting.
Guess what my lovely husband did for Valentine's Day, when I am 8 weeks post-op? I came home from work to a three course meal!
6:30pm Appetizer: One small potato skin containing cheese, bacon and green onion.
8:30pm Dinner: 2.5 oz of filet mignon and one large onion ring
I was absolutely stuffed. No more food, I said! But when, at 10:30pm, he mentioned the dessert options, I suddenly was unstuffed.
10:30pm Dessert: One small chocolate covered strawberry and two bites of a chocolate brownie with chocolate frosting
I went to bed completely sated. I suppose this is what it's like to savor one's food in normal sized portions...? I awoke this morning with no obsessive thoughts about what my food choices would be for the day - or worse, what I wouldn't be having. The What-Food-Am-I-Missing-Out-On Monster was quiet. I got back on plan today without a single negative thought or regret.
Bonus? I weighed this morning and found that I didn't negatively impact my progress. In fact, I lost 2/10 of a pound.
Love my man! He knew what I needed and what I could handle. There will be a life where I can enjoy food again; I can see it now. Very empowering night for me!

I am loving 162. Never in my life have I loved 162. I have been at this weight more then ten times in my life, either from gaining or losing. And never have I appreciated this number. I of course want to be 110, but I feel it coming and I am ready to love myself. Never do I want to be over 200lbs, at 4'10 I was a walking heart attack. I love waking up and feeling smaller, I love looking in the mirror, I love going to the gym, I love myself. I thank God everyday that I had this surgery. I would do it again in a heartbeat. And, I love the lifestyle change. Eating clean, every three hours, 70-100oz of Water, Protein first, feeling full, not being obsessed with food, excersise and the high I get from running....just thought I would share. Thanks to everyone on here that is and continues to be positive forces in my journey.
