  1. I was supposed to be on shakes, the only food I was supposed to have was two yogurts a day and a small salad for lunch. I ate the yogurt and salad and substituted chicken or eggs for the shakes.
  2. I didn't go on a full liquid diet, I substituted Protein for shakes when I was on my pre op diet. And I've gone into ketosis plenty of times throughout my life, without shakes.
  3. How far out are you? Any other symptoms? Definitely call your surgeon or go to the ER if you don't get some relief by morning - sounds like a leak to me.
  4. That depends on how many oz the bottles hold. If they're the 12oz bottles, between 6 and 8, if they're bigger than less, smaller than more. You should be consuming about 80oz of fluids a day
  5. It's an implant that goes in your arm.. a little plastic thing. http://www.implanon-usa.com/en/consumer/index.asp
  6. I have only had my cycle twice since I got it - once right after surgery and last week when i had a nasty kidney infection. I've had mine in for a year and a half and haven't experienced any negatives... I love it! When this ones done I'll replace it with another, unless of course I'm ready for another by then
  7. Implanon... Love it!
  8. Most insurance companies do not cover skin removal as it is considered cosmetic and elective. The only circumstances where I've ever heard of an insurance company paying for plastic surgery is where a person developed rashes or infections in the folds of their excess skin. If you want to check, I'd just call and ask if they cover plastic surgery or under conditions would they cover plastic surgery like abdominoplasty.
  9. I just got over a nasty kidney infection and coincidentally had my 6mo post-op appt right in the midst of it. I thought it may have been a stone so I asked. My Dr said any type of stones (kidney, gall) are more common post op. Just make sure you hydrate hydrate hydrate hydrate!
  10. What is the world is a bougie?
  11. Usually about a tablespoon or so but you can check the nutrition facts to be sure
  12. It took about a week for my hunger to fully disappear - though I think it was mostly head hunger
  13. I've never been able to tolerate the shakes, even during my two week liquid pre-op diet, and post op I didn't start getting protein in until I was back on solids and could eat meat gain. Shrimp is super high in protein, 4oz has about 25g and only 110 calories - I eat a lot of shrimp. If you can't find a protein you can tolerate, just find a way to make sure you get it all in
  14. Stepped on the scale this morning... 193! Down 4# this week! 85#s officially gone forever, 4lbs closer to my goal, and every time the amount of weight I have left to lose goes down, I get a little excited... 43# to go!
  15. I generally get about 60-70g of carbs a day also so not into the ketosis level of low carb, but low enough. My typical day looks like this: Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled with ketchup Snack - yoplait light yogurt lunch - tuna or chicken salad with 5-6 crackers I usually don't eat it all Snack - the rest of my lunch dinner - chicken or fish and some type of veggie Snack - SF popsicle My typical day is between 800 and 1000 calories, 60-65g of Protein and about 60-70g of carbs.
  16. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point... Tour body has been processing nothing but liquids for almost a month, its common for your bowel movements to slow. Most of us only go once or twice a week since were not taking in as much.
  17. Are you still on a liquid diet or are you on to purees?
  18. The FAQ pinned up top has some suggestions in there...
  19. You can get a binder - I used the one I had from my c-section and it worked great, but if you don't have one you can use an ace bandage but they bind and roll and aren't very comfortable.
  20. A) how far out are you? And I don't see it as a big deal if you go over 700 calories because of a protein shake, but I would try to stay under 1200 calories a day if you're anywhere near maintenance... Also, what has your Dr said about this?
  21. It's pretty normal... The portion of your stomach that they removed was removed on the right and they had to really pull to stretch the incision so they could get it out. I had the same thing and that's what my PA told me.
  22. The reason so many Bypass patients look gray and saggy is because their procedure is both restrictive and malabsorptive, meaning not only does it restrict their food intake, it also restricts what their body absorbs from what they *do* intake, including nutrients. Our surgery is just restrictive and doesn't restrict our bodies absorption of the nutrients from the food we intake. As for saggy skin, that has a lot to do with genetics but can also be effected by Vitamin and mineral deficiencies which most sleevers don't experience.
  23. You're in LA so probably. I'm not sure what the weather is like there in November, but here we can buy summer clothes all year round. You could also try and guess what size you'll be by then, if nothing else it'll be motivation to get you there, or if they're just a tad too big that's OK too. I bought the dress for my BFF's wedding about 2 months in advance in the size I thought I'd be. Luckily it fit beautifully. Just remember your weight loss will slow down so make sure you're realistic with your sizing if you do decide to guesstimate.
  24. Wait until about a week or two before your trip to buy anything.
  25. I love eggs... Always have, always will. Any way you cook them, I'll eat them, but since being sleeved I've discovered that unless they've got ketchup on top (something I never would have eaten before,) I can't eat them. chicken HAS to have BBQ sauce on top no matter how it's prepared, broccoli has to be steamed plain with no cheese... I realize that food wise our tastes have changed but I'm just curious what other "weird" food preferences others have now that they may not have had before.
