  1. Thanks! We're not posting NSV's (although I suppose mine was a bit of an NSV, I was emphasizing the more sneaky vindictive purposeful torture of my ex) we're posing Flame Free Friday Confessions So if you've got a juicy confession, we wanna hear it!
  2. Better late than never, right? It's FFFC time! And this week's FFFC will be voted on by your fellow VSG'ers to see who's got the most unique/creative/scandalous (in a good way!) confession! Your confessions can be food/sleeve related or not, so let's hear it! What's your dirty little secret of the week? ETA: We'll be voting Monday so you have the weekend to get your confessions in. Here's mine: When my sons father (I affectionately refer to him as Spermy... Short for Spermy McDonor ) came and dropped our son off on Sunday, I purposely made sure that I had showered, blow dried my hair, put on fresh makeup and a fresh spritz of his favorite perfume so that when he saw me in my slimmer form and form fitted clothes, he'd feel a sharp stab in his gut and realize what a moron he is for 1) being such a prick and 2) calling me a fat effing biatch a few weeks ago. I don't ever want him back, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy torturing him a bit I know my plan was a huge success when he did a double take when he saw me and lingered just a moment too long when he was kissing our son goodbye. It feels good.
  3. ^ I like this. Most people that know me know I've had surgery, but for those that don't know (if they don't know by now, they probably don't need to know) this works!
  4. Tell them the truth... You're not hungry. And you won't be either - just make sure you take your pepcid before hand because at that stage any hunger you experience is actually reflux rearing it's ugly head. Welcome to the losers bench!
  5. Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go. - William Feather
  6. My son was 16mos when I had surgery and I had no help post-op with him. He was at his dads house while I was in the hospital but as soon as I came home so did he. I wasn't able to lift anything over 15lbs for 3 weeks post-op. I'm not sure when you're scheduled for surgery but what really helped me is that my son climbs the stairs on his own, climbs into his high chair by himself, climbs into the car by himself, and sleeps in a toddler bed that he also climbs into. Does she climb yet? If she's still dependent on you for these things you'll definitely need help, but otherwise I'd say you'll be fine. The only struggle for me was the couple times he hurt himself during the first 3 weeks I immediately ran to him to pick him up and had to stop myself mid-lift.
  7. Meet me in Orlando, I'll be happy to take some off your hands
  8. I think it's hard for our SO's because we're losing weight and gaining confidence and self esteem and becoming new people and they may not know how to handle it. Also, some of them may feel threatened by the attention we're getting etc... A lot of times we forget that even though we're the ones who physically undergo the change, they're the ones who have to deal with the fallout. Your husband may be happy about a 2lb loss or a smaller size like you are, but remember that men express themselves differently than women.
  9. What's for lunch? I'm thinking a Pollo Tripical tropi-chop with no rice and tons of veg...
  10. That's right, it's Wine and Whine Wednesday! Got something to gripe about? Sleeve related or not, we wanna hear it! Let it all out! Mine is this: My supposed best friend of 15 years has been MIA since she started dating her now husband 2 years ago. She ditched me during my pregnancy, constantly has some lame-ass excuse as to why she can't do something, and makes no effort to maintain our friendship, but yet when she wants me to make the 45min drive to her I'm just supposed to jump? She has no job and no kids, I work full time and have an 18month old - she can bring herself to me! And when I'm out her way or am going to be out her way and ask her to do something, she breaks out excuses after excuse! This week the excuse is "I can't go to the beach on Sunday because I have jury duty" Uhmmm... It's Sunday, I'm pretty sure the court isn't open on SUNDAY! *vent over*
  11. Most likely it's because you're building muscle. I don't think it's the starvation mode thing so much as it is the muscle thing, simply because our bodies are pretty much in a constant state of starvation right now with our caloric intake so exercising wouldn't really exascerbate that. I'm curious to see what others think.
  12. Let's share the warm fuzzies and see if we can't get everyone feelin' pretty good! I want to know, what's the most positive experience you've had since getting sleeved? It could be a compliment you've received or an NSV you've never expected... What's one positive experience you've had that has really made you cheese from ear to ear? Here's mine: Friday night I went into the gas station where I used to stop every morning for my coffee and cigarettes. I haven't been in there since New Years when I quit smoking. When Bobby, the gas station owner who I've known for about 5 years, saw me his jaw dropped! He knew me pre-pregnancy when I was a size 14, and has watched me balloon to a size 24 since I got pregnant in 2010. The look of appreciation on his face and his kind words made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
  13. Thanks Coops! I was confused for a moment trying to figure out which photos you were talking about (I'm also a photographer) and how you found my site, but then I realized you meant my photos here. LOL
  14. Gooooood Morning fellow banana Babies! It's Monday and it's time for a little motivation! So post your favorite quote, saying, poem, or whatever you use to motivate or inspire yourself and let's get this party started! I'll kick us off... Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true. - Leon J. Suenes
  15. The only person I refuse to tell is my sons father, and mostly because it's none of his GD business. Although I will admit, when he picked an argument with me a couple of weeks ago and was reduced to calling me a fat effing biatch, all I could do was smile and think to myself "Not for long sucker!" - Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person - they get backed into a corner and have to call names to feel good about themselves... Most people at my work know about my surgery, all of my friends and family know, and I openly discuss it on my FB. I'm not ashamed, but if there's someone I didn't tell it's probably someone I don't care about anyway. I surround myself with people who love and support me and show everyone else the door. My feeling is that if there's someone in your life that doesn't support you, they're not worth your time. Nobody needs that kind of negativity in their lives.
  16. TBH I'm not sure if you can - I would try the thermal care patches and then if those don't work ask your Dr about a topical anti-inflammatory.
  17. I as well as most others were told absolutely not to Ibuprofen and other NSAID's (Non-Steroidal Antiinflammatories) because of the propensity to cause ulcers. No NSAID's, No ASA's (Asperine's) but I was told that a patch with a topical NSAID was OK, and so are injectable NSAID's. As long as they don't go through the stomach. They're too harsh on our sleevies.
  18. Haha! I've been meaning to post that every time I see his/her name pop up. Nothing's adding up. They had surgery 6 weeks ago and are already in a size small? The profile pic is of an obviously NOT overweight person. No profile info... Nothing but grammatically incorrect questions that appear to be designed to gain sympathy - most of them anyway. And obviously very uneducated about VSG in general.
  19. Congratulations and Welcome to the Losers Bench! I agree that head hunger does suck, but just keep drinking your fluids and when you feel like head hunger is taking over, try having a SF popsicle. You'll curb that head hunger and get another 2oz of Fluid in
  20. Congratulations! Have a monster smoothie to celebrate
  21. Congratulations! So, it's St Paddys Day - have you hit Onderland?
  22. *sniff sniff* I smell a troll...
  23. The Friday confessions were such a big hit last week and all the way through Monday that I thought I'd open it up for the entire weekend. My flame free confession? I had 4 glasses of wine last night and I smoked (because I was drinking of course) The really bad part is that when I started drinking I had only had about 20oz or so all day, so about half of my Fluid intake yesterday was alcohol. Mmmmmm Reisling
  24. Usually when I eat out, especially now, I get it to go. Today I went to Mimi's Cafe for lunch with a coworker. I was pretty good I think - I got the Soup and sandwich combo with french onion soup and a BLT sandwich. I ate the cheese off the soup and most of the broth, and then I had two slices of the bacon and a slice of tomato off the sandwich. What bothered me most was when the server came over with the check she got this disturbed look on her face when she saw my plate and exclaimed rather loudly "You barely touched your food!" I started to explain why I picked, but instead I just left it at "I had surgery" and left it alone. She looked like she wanted to pry, and she tried, but I shut her down. Part of me thinks that a small part of the reason most of us are/were overweight is because when we try to control our portions it's almost as if it's frowned upon. Anybody else feel like this?
